The location is within a plaza and the store itself is on the smaller scale with a cozy, intimate setting. Nice find in the city of Santa Ana. Wanted a brunch spot after leaving Newport and landed here. The dishes were unique which caught our eye. Tluyuda which is like a really large, lighter version of a tostada with 3 types of meat. Cesina steak, pork and chorizo. Really good and really unique. Too large for one person, so beware. I tried the goat barbacoa which was tasty, but didn't have a lot of meat. Thankfully the consommé was delish and my GF wasn't going to finish her tluyuda, so we had plenty of food. Also tried the quesadilla dorados which were tasty as well. Only issue was we were starving and hoped the appetizer would come out first, but it didn't. All the food came out at the same time, which took a while. Thank goodness for the free chips with mole and salsa or we wouldn't have made it. Speaking of mole, it was fabulous on the chips. Maybe should have orders the pollo en mole. Next time. The horchatas were good too. Different than I am used to. Not as sweet and as you can see had an interesting topping. Hibiscus maybe? Was in Santa Ana for work and knew I would find authentic Mexican regional food. This is a charming little restaurant in a strip mall. The decor is vibrant. The service is friendly. They serve a small plate of tortilla chips with mole and queso, hot salsa on the side. The portion was perfect so as not to overeat! I ordered enchiladas con queso with red mole, which came with rice. My friend ordered enchiladas con pollo with verde mole, which came with rice and black beans. Both were delicious and the portions were just right. The red mole is on the sweet side, so could have been a bit more balanced. The verde was deemed delicious as were the black beans, which are not refried and have a nice gravy. Glad we found this tradition restaurant. read more

Their aqua de tamarindo tasted home made and authentic and not something poured out of a carton like other places. We came here for my boyfriend's birthday. We really wanted to try the grasshoppers and he loves mole, so this restaurant was perfect. It's a sign of good quality when the customers were all Mexican and the dining room was full. The serves was very good and they spoke enough English to converse with us. We ordered that grasshoppers (chapulinas), molotes, chicken mole and tamal de Oaxaqueno, when we're all very delicious. The grasshoppers were flavorful and crispy. Ok , if you're looking for AUTHENTIC Mexican cuisine your search should bring you here in the heart of Santa Ana. It's a small place, clean with a beautiful mural. As we came in there were several tables that not cleared up (I personally don't like that in a restaurant, specially if they're small) perhaps because there was only ONE server who was very pleasant but it was difficult for her get orders and keep the place tidy by herself. The food was great. We ordered the quesadilla app and they were crunchy and delicious as they should be. We shared the Molcajete and it came with chicken, tasajo, cecina , shrimp, nopales and cheese. I gotta say it was good although the cecina was a little more dry than it usually is. It came with white rice that was a bit too garlicky for my taste and beans. Served with two large tortillas. For dessert we ordered the plátanos fritos and those were dry, and I mean dry with a very little sprinkle of lechera (could have used more to compensate for the dryness). We asked for refills in coffee but our server was busy and sometimes distracted so we never got it. Overall it's a great place to try for authentic Oaxacan cuisine with room from improvement in service, and in plátanos fritos for sure. During the Covid era I've only made one international trip: to Oaxaca last year. In Oaxaca you can get amazing moles. Since I've been back I've been looking to get an amazing mole, just like the ones I tasted in Oaxaca. Yesterday, I found the place to get them in Southern California! At Flor De Oaxaca. As you can see by the photo I've attached I got the combination of mole negro and mole coloradito with chicken. It was wonderful! The chicken, mole and the side of rice made a perfect and filling lunch. The chicken was fresh and perfectly cooked, the rice fluffy and the mole transported me back to my great trip to Oaxaca. For a drink I got the Horchata Oaxaquena with cinnamon and rice. It was refreshing and delicious. The service was super friendly and the vibe of the restaurant was warm, friendly and homestyle. Came for the Fideo, stayed for the Quesadillas Doradas. The weather is getting cooler so I thought I'd track down a restaurant that serves Fideo and this place came up. Flor De Oaxaca seems to be one of many new Oaxacan restaurants opening up in recent years catering to peoples' newfound knowledge and appreciation of the cuisine of Oaxaca. You get the Oaxacan vibes immediately when they serve you chips and mole to start. Not feeling like a full tlayuda, I went in for a bowl of Fideo and was searching for something to complement my meal. I'm a huge fan of fried tacos to pair with Mexican soups, so my eyes immediately spotted the Quesadillas Doradas. Never heard of Quesadillas Doradas? Neither have I, but I'm glad I discovered it! They're basically fried corn tortilla dumplings filled with quesillo and epazote leaves, with queso fresco and a green, avocado-tasting salsa on top. The quesillo cheese is soft and practically mozzarella-like and the epazote had a mild herby flavor... but my god, combine the flavors in a soft but crunchy fried tortilla wrapping and it's heavenly! For me, something so delicious, mixing flavors and textures in such a craveable manner is the beginning of an addiction. The Sopa de Fideo here, to be honest, is pretty forgettable... too few ingredients to really be more than just a savory tomato soup with noodles. But the Quesadillas Doradas? ¡Dios mío! This place is a hidden gem in Santa Ana! I tried the enmoladas and the molotes (almost like a chorizo and papa empanada, but crispier and better) and everything was delicious ! The enmoladas had great flavor and the rice was also very very good. The molotes were amazing! Crispy, hot and packed with filling. Even the salsa at the table was something to rave about. I was craving chicken enchiladas mole, so I came to this spot for the very first time, and I have to say, they make one of the most amazing mole sauces. My server was great--she checked off everything on the list: she greeted me right away when I arrived, insisted on taking my drink order while I looked at the menu, asked for my order in a timely manner, kept my table clean, and refilled my water. This place is nice, clean, and in a decent area. The ladies are nice, friendly and efficient plus they look well put together; hair neatly put up and they wear cute traditional type blouses. They gave us complementary chips drizzled with mole sauce and the sauce was just too sweet so we did not order mole. We ordered a sampler platter and everything on there was good but It didn't satisfy my craving, maybe I did need mole and rice. It came with a green mild sauce and a spicy spicy hot sauce, spicy! I did notice everyone getting these delicious looking horchata drinks with fruit. We didn't get them because we just had a boba. Oaxacan Horchata- $3 This is not your typical horchata. This is layered with nuts, chopped fruit, a strawberry layer and horchata underneath. While we looked over the menu, the sweet waitress brought us a small complimentary plate of chips covered in their delicious mole sauces & cheese. We tried the mole Colorado & negro, both were so delicious! Colorado is red & more savory; negro is darker & sweeter. They sell these delicious mole sauces in plastic packages to take home, which I thought was such a great idea because I don't live in this area & can't come back as often as I would like. What we ordered: - Tlayuda de Choriqueso - This one blew my mind! The crispy tortilla, stringy salty cheese, crispy chunks of chorizo, & black beans combined to create the perfect crunchy, salty, pork flavored bite. - Delicias de Oaxaca - The green sauce is tangy, such a perfect compliment to each of the fried foods. My favorite were the long football-shaped ones filled with potatoes & also the taquitos! - Fideo - This soup looks like a simple noodle soup but was so flavorful! Been to this place several times already and just got around to writing this review. Food is really good, my favorite is the big platter with variations of food and it costs $25, good for two people. Today, we ordered different plate. One was with enchilada, cecina and tasajo served with rice and beans. Pretty good portion and tasty! The Plato de al Casa cost about $17 and add $8 more and get the delicias de Oaxaca for more food. Really good! I'll always come back here whenever I crave some Oaxacan food. read more

It's a shame that the owners are so rude and racist. I've noticed that when Asian or American people go, they serve them VERY WELL and give them very nice, full plates, but they give their own people terrible service and poorly served food.You order something simple to come out quickly and it takes forever to give you your food. They should do what other restaurants do, serving what is quickest first and I think they serve you as you arrive, even if your order is quickest, they serve what takes the longest. read more

Ive been wanting to try this place for a while so we finally made the drive up there from mission viejo. It's very small but gets very packed. I recommend getting there early before 11am on a Sunday. The food was so so but the reason why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's overpriced.... I was not expecting this type of restaurant to be so expensive!
