The scheduler was SO nice and accommodating, and she was able to get me into the Scott's Hill location the next morning. When I arrived, I was greeted by the receptionist who was very helpful. When taken back (barely had to wait 5 minutes), the staff was very friendly (and I'm a sensitive eye girlie). I saw Dr. Chad Tisdale, and he was very patient and settled my anxiety. I definitely plan to establish with this group for my annual appointments.

No mounds of paperwork needed to be filled out. My appointment began on time and the assistant was thorough with their exam. Asking questions as things were progressing and listening to my responses and any questions that I had. The Dr. then saw me and went over everything and I was fitted for contacts and took the time to make sure the ones I received fit properly. At check out again a truly professional experience and the new contacts that were ordered included free shipping to my home so I do not have to return. They are an hour away from my home but I will be back as I know have a new place.

This was my experience with Atlantic Eye Associates. It's been four years since my last eye exam…read moreand I noticed my glasses were no longer doing their job. Atlantic eye care was close to my home and accepted my insurance. I called for an appointment in early December and was scheduled for early February. Two months seemed like a long time but it's been four years so I took the appointment. After waiting the two months the day of the appointment I was called and told the doctor was sick and they would call and reschedule me. I got a call in a few days and was scheduled for the following week. The day of that appointment I received another call stating the doctor was still sick and that they would call to reschedule my appointment. That call never came. After ten days or so I stopped by the office to reschedule and was told the best they could do would be the first week of May. That's another two months. I consider that to be terrible customer service and decided to write this review. In an area where there are so many people one persons' business doesn't matter. Treating people this way has become the norm just about everywhere. The only thing we have as consumers and citizens are our wallets, our votes, and reviews. Do as you will but once I see this side of a business I would never hand them my hard earned money.

Recently, I went to The Eye Center, 3500 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC, for a standard eye…read moreexam/contact fitting. The message on my voice mail confirming the appointment stated that my portion would be $39. Upon arrival, my out of pocket was increased to $59. When the exam was finished, I was required to pay $185. I was advised that Dr. Wallent decided that I needed a medical exam which was not covered by my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. I have never had a medical problem with my eyes nor was I advised that the fee would increase dramatically. Back in Ohio where I am from looking at the health of the eyes was a standard part of the eye exam which was covered in full by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Ohio. During my time as Director of Investigations for the Summit County Prosecutors Office in Ohio, we worked on insurance fraud cases regularly, so I am familiar with the form and structure of how they work. This particular type of overcharge is a classic example of "Bait and Switch". A truly insidious example of ripping off the consumer. My plans are to file complaints with Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC, and the The North Carolina State Board of Examiners in Optometry. I look forward to these various agencies looking closely at the billing practices of The Eye Center where they may find thousands of cases of over billing, insurance fraud and Criminal Theft by Deception. I would not recommend The Eye Center under any circumstances. This review will also be posted on Google and Yelp.

I got a great deal on some stellar frames, progressive and transitions lenses. Super happy!
