Professional and Friendly Staff. Very thorough and helpful. We have been coming here for 3 years…read more We have always received great service. We have never had a problem with getting a copy of our full prescriptions. We usually order glasses here, as the cost is partially covered by our insurance. We can use the prescription(s) (for reading glasses or sunglasses) elsewhere as well.

I LOVE this eye doctor. I really do. I got to see an actual eye doctor, in person, not this new…read morevirtual nonsense so many other places have defaulted to (ahem EyeCare center). I watched Dr. Taylor put in the prescription right then and there which was also fantastic, don't remember the last time I saw a doctor put everything in instead of an assistant. Dr. Taylor was extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions and was very patient with us. Turns out my daughter has the unusual and rare anisometropia that will need correction but ultimately he left it up to us for when why. Anywhere else would have immediately put her in glasses and charged an arm and a leg for the insane prescription she needs. Can begin to say how much I appreciate being in charge of our care and wallet. They were fantastic enough to do both me and my daughter's appointment at exactly the same time. And I don't mean I did mine and she followed behind me. We were together for the entire appointment, PERFECT for a kid's first appointment or in our case someone who struggles speaking to strangers. Which actually wasn't a problem, partially because I was there and she was able to watch me and partially because of how great the staff was. They really were so great with her that I know that she won't need me with her but has the option of she wants me. They helped up maximize our insurance benefits which is one of the most important things. They didn't just max everything out they helped us get what we need and use all of our benefit, our out of pocket costs were negligible. I prefer contacts but I need prescription sunglasses for those days I don't wear contacts. Previous providers have just put in orders for contacts not even asking what I want and I walk out $600 lighter and ALWAYS have many contacts left over that what am I supposed to do with?? I was never allowed to just order a box or two, or more accurately I probably was the office just never let me because why would they? Jacksonville Visions Center however let me, I felt like I could actually ask questions and had control over what was happening. Dr. Taylor wrote the prescription for whatever I needed for a year but they are allowing me to order a few boxes at a time so I don't end up with a stock pile of contacts I don't need and don't know what to do with. I cannot rave enough at how patient, knowledgeable and helpful they were with helping my indecisive daughter pick her first pair of glasses. It is a very big decision and they were so AMAZING. I cannot remember her name ((I'll update when I do)) was so great. She put so much attention into making sure the glasses fit her face and complimented her. She was more than happy to collect all 59 pairs and let her keep trying them on. She had a great system for narrowing them down, let her walk around the store and hang out with them while I was searching so she could get a feel for them. It took a bit of time and effort but she found the perfect glasses and she is so happy with them. I believe she's had them 4 months now and she's not complained once, except of course she needs them tightened again and we know we just gotta head in to the office (today hopefully) and they'll get her situated. We REALLY love Jacksonville Vision Center. The only complaint I have is not knowing they existed before! We wasted so much time and energy with EyeCare center just to talk to a tv screen. My whole family has switched and we couldn't be happier. I am certain you will not regret seeing Dr. Taylor.

I requested that my eyes not…read morebe dilated due to the fact that I could not drive home (an hour away) safely if my eyes were dilated. I only have vision in one eye and have limited peripheral vision and depth perception. Therefore, driving is already difficult enough without dilation. Upon requesting that my eyes not be dilated, I was told that Chad was a "stickler" about dilation and I would need to be rescheduled. Mind you, I was never told that there was a "dilation requirement" when I scheduled the appointment. After speaking with a supervisor, I was told the same thing. I asked to speak with Chad. From there, things went from bad to worse. Chad walked into the exam room and asked in a rude tone; "What's the problem?" He never said "Hello" nor did he introduce himself. I explained my concerns about driving home safely and he said that I could reschedule and come back when I had someone to drive me. I explained that I had an eye doctor for over 20 years who respected my request to not be dilated due to my safety when driving. Chad replied: "Maybe he is a better doctor than me." Needless to say, the office could have requested my records from my previous eye doctor in CT, but clearly the practice doesn't care about my well being, my vision or my safety. Chad said that he had a solution. He asked me to reschedule and to come back when I had someone to drive me home. While that may have seemed like a viable option to Chad, I am a single woman, new to the area and I don't have anyone to drive me. This doesn't take away the fact that once my eyes are dilated, I won't be able to see clearly for several hours. However, my physical safety was obviously not a concern for Chad. He insisted that he had a "liability" to ensure my eye health. This is untrue. He could have documented that I refused dilation and therefore he is not liable. It's really as simple as that but his ego held sway. To say that Chad was rude and arrogant would be an understatement. His downward communication style spoke of his lack of confidence and his inability to listen to a patient's concerns. His rigidity and abhorrent bed side manner leaves a lot to be desired in a provider who is allegedly a "professional." While I knew that his education and licensure were less than an opthalmologist, I never expected his professional conduct to be so haughty. I definitely would NOT recommend Chad Tisdale or Wilmington Eye for your vision needs. You might get blindsided by an optometrist who refuses to make accommodations for individuals with a visual disability. You would be better off having your dog examine your eyes.
