Gel Manicure by Lisa
Yasmin R.

It has to be said, so please excuse me, if my follow up review is a bit long wended. On my last 3 visits, it's been obvious that Discrimination is the culture of this salon, the owners holding the reigns. Always asking where you're from, do you live in the neighborhood, etc etc. The prices seem to change depending on skin tone, zip code and so on. As I have done once before I usually receive SpaFinder Gift Cards and use them at Flora, whom participate. However, when it comes time to pay, there always seems to be an issue, such as, not receiving any of the spa discounts. When using the SpaFinder Card you are not entitled to the 10% discount, is that just applied to me, I don't know. So opposed to arguing, I have let it go, twice. They took the whole $100, which my service added up to $58 or so bucks, so now I have to come back here because they will only issue me a store credit. I gave my mom the credit and here is where, once again, my mom was treated with the utmost disrespect. In the past they have made her wait, or taken a tech in the mist of service and given that person to a white person, or have taken a walk-in with NO appt and put them ahead of her. Why she came back, probably my fault, but I had this credit and I said go get a mani pedi. Today they did it again. She called ahead, made an appt, the person on the phone quoted $42 plus 10% discount. My mom told them about the store credit, all seemed well enough, until she arrived. The prices changed. My mom tells the owner about the credit, she said no we don't give credit on spa club, meanwhile the OWNER wrote the credit on the store receipt. The service again POOR, the tech was removed and replaced with someone else, she was given the quickest foot scrub (count 1,2,3 - done) and sadly, my mom was was rushed to the mani table while the white women who came before at the pedi bowls were still getting their scrubs. FACT: Racism is alive and well in this shop. Take your business elsewhere.

I was told I can leave my toe and nail were dry.i got home and took off my sneakers I was so upset

Walked in a little before close when I was turned away by a spot nearby an hour before closing. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. The massages are great and reasonably priced and they do it at the same time as your mani. My nail tech was detail oriented and took her time and my gel manicure looks great. Wish the color options were a bit broader but the colors they do have are nice. It's not the most up to date or pretty inside but they do a good job for what you're paying for. I'm very happy with the outcome of my gel mani.

Horror show after letting them remove my tips. Ow!

Hands down the best massage I've ever had. "Why?" you ask…read more Buckle up. I ran in FLUSTERED. I was running late from work. Lukkana greeted me and told me to catch my breath. She set me up with some calming tea and brought me to a private changing area with a locker for my belongings. Everyone in the vicinity checked in to make sure I was doing ok. I was worried that because I had arrived late, I would eat up some of my massage time. No siree! They moved my massage to start when I was ready to begin. I booked the 90 minute Nuansa classic massage. You know how some places start the clock before you've sat down and finish the massage early (aka you pay for an hour and it's only about 45 minutes)? Well! That's not the case here! I got all 90 minutes of my massage. The massage itself: not to be believed. Lukkana started by saying "time to relax". And boy did I. Let me tell you one thing about me - I have the most ticklish legs of anyone I've ever met. Usually, when I have my legs massaged, I kick a hole in the wall and the masseuse files for a lawsuit (this is an exaggeration). Well! Somehow, Lukkana was able to work the muscles in my leg without triggering my dainty ticklish reflexes. I was astonished! Then, you know how sometimes you ask for a firm touch and you get jelly hands? Or the other way around and you're walking out with bruises? WELL - Lukkana made me feel immensely relaxed WHILE ALSO really working the tissue. What a novelty. She finished up with a scalp massage, which is truly the way to my heart. 11 out of 10. Would recommend. Thank you so much for making my day.

They have disposable slippers for when using the bathroom. Unlimited towels u can use. They got stacks of towels everywhere u can just grab and go, and not have to reuse the same sweaty towel the whole day. Tips- bring socks to wear while using the saunas if youre one of those germophobic people. Slippers arent allowed in those areas. Its been years since Ive last come and I just came over Memorial day weekend. I didnt have a reservation because I had expired gift cards from 2021 that I wanted to use (as face value) and I couldnt use them on the website. Tip: you can call them to make reservations. I didnt call because it was forecasted to rain and I didnt know if I really wanted to go there while it was raining. But i drove to them on a saturday morning anyway and decided to walk in. They initially wouldnt let me do a walk in as they were busy for memorial day weekend but after i told them about my expired gift cards, the manager agreed to let me and my husband come in. Anyway, place is huge. Pools were nice. Saunas were nice. The only room i didnt like was the Ganbanyoku (bed rock bathing). Maybe because it is located right next to the pools and everyone just walks in wet, but that room stinks like wet towels. Place also got pretty busy towards the afternoon so I recommend going early! It was mostly light rain throughout the day so we had no issues being outside in the pool. Food is not cheap and i wish they had more korean choices other than bulgogi rice. I was craving for korean soup noodle! Overall, i had a nice relaxing time here with my husband. Towards the end, we went back to our own gender bathhouses and gave ourselves 45 minutes to enjoy the pools in there and shower and then leave. We stayed at sojo for about 5 hours. I probably wouldve stayed longer if i had more free time to waste, but i had 2 kids waiting at home -_-

All the pool areas were crowded at 10am, so we couldn't even get in. The saunas were unusable because so many people were looking for a place to go that the doors kept opening every 15 seconds, preventing them from heating up properly. The quiet area with chairs was so crowded that people were using them like lounge chairs on a cruise ship, with one person holding a chair for six people's belongings. It just felt like a complete waste of money to pay for spa access. They are not trying to create a luxury spa experience, just 100% a cash grab. I booked a couples massage for my wife and me, and considering the $500+ price, I expected a luxury experience. We showed up 15 min early, as typically spas at this price point will offer tea, a relaxing environment, and go over where you'd like to focus your treatment before you begin. When we arrived, they told us to come back in 10 minutes, because we were too early. Then, when we arrived 5 minutes before our service, they still said they weren't ready for us to come back; it was a terrible start. I've had over a hundred massages over the past 10+ years, and at the 200$+ price point, this one was in the bottom 5 I've experienced. Just mediocre at best. To top it off, at the end, the masseuse hard-sold the oils/lotions they use, which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I get a better massage at Bergen Spa in Brooklyn for $55, and given there was no high-end experience here, it's the same. I wouldn't come back even if they charged half of what they do. Horrible all around.

Fifteen minutes into our 90-minute couples deep tissue massage, I saw my husband's therapist, Lydia, typing on a lit smartphone while leaning over him. When she realized I saw her, she hid the phone under the sheets. There is no version of this that is acceptable. Texting during a paid massage is blatant misconduct. It didn't stop there. My husband repeatedly asked her to focus on his neck and shoulders and avoid his feet. His requests were ignored. The technique was lazy and mechanical - repetitive forearm circling with little to no pressure, despite requesting deep tissue. He left feeling like he didn't receive a massage at all. When we raised the issue, the owner acknowledged the behavior was "unacceptable" yet offered only a 25% discount - as if actively texting during a massage, ignoring repeated client requests, and delivering a substandard service were minor inconveniences. This wasn't just a bad massage. It was a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. We will not be returning.

The front door explain the entrance fee but when I asked questions about the other services the woman was a little abrupt and rude. I mean whatever I asked she mentioned the fee. I told her I know and I guess she wanted that fee before I realize the massage is really bodywork. I told her it is my first time here. I wanted to leave but stayed because i traveled so far and I wasn't in the mood to find somewhere else. It was my birthday. Anyhow I pay get my uniform go to lockers. I noticed the sign and picture of two thieves and others about lost towel and key fees. Anyway the locker room plays Korean drama and attendants are the ones who sell the other services. I lounged around in the coed area and then tried every steam and sauna for 20 minutes. I walked around in my socks. It was pretty quiet and peaceful . It wasn't full of people either. I go to the front desk to ask if there are slides or slippers. My feet got really hot in the sauna I was wearing socks . One must either be in socks or barefoot. I asked him about the additional services and he said the women in the locker rooms do those. The woman in the locker room are the "masseuse " or "esthetician" in a sense. Before entering the wet room (one removes their spa uniform showers ) before using the jacuzzi steam room and cold plunge. Ok so I decided to get the Korean body scrub and massage. The body scrub was better than the massage. I braced myself each time I was rinsed with water. A basin of water gets thrown on you. The massage included a facial and I appreciate her massaging my stomach where I tend to get fibroids. The facial left my skin glowing . Overall i probably won't go back but i feel encouraged to check out higher end spas and treat myself more. I think these spas are good for sauna unless your gym has one. It was an ok value.
