I figured it was time for an updated review after my mani-pedi this morning! My friend and her husband are throwing a staycation bash for her 40th at the new TWA hotel and after screwing up my swim reservation (that's for another review...) I figured I'd have time for a pedicure and maybe even a manicure too. Knowing how busy Dolphin can get, I booked it there* in the rain around 10AM and they were able to squeeze me in. My feet were in bad shape (I walk 10-15k steps/day, wear heels to the office 4 days a week and hadn't gotten a pedicure since I was in Greece... in early June) and my hands were even worse. Neither were a challenge for Abby! She did an incredible job and was maybe the most gentle nail technician I've ever encountered. I'm truly amazed that she was able to take care of my mangled cuticles and nails without any pain. And they look great. What a gem this place is! I'm going to try and make manicures a regular thing now (mayhe in tandem with my return to Yelp reviews!) No Amex accepted and cash for tips only. *don't be like me and book an appointment instead (they get VERY busy) so you can stay dry. read more

Awesome, affordable spot to get nails done. Came here after scouring the internet for a place that does dip well. I've never tried dip before, so I don't have anything else to compare it to. However, I will say that the entire process was smooth and my nails look great (and I'm pretty picky about shaping)! I called a little bit after they opened on a Sunday and was able to make a same-day appointment. However, if you want to guarantee a time, you should book in advanced-- when I was there I heard at least one person get told there was no more availability. I arrived about 8 minutes before my appointment, expecting to wait. However, I was able to be instantly seen! The entire process took about 45 minutes (I had no polish on), which I really appreciated from an efficiency standpoint. The salon was busy the entire time and you can tell a lot of folks are repeat customers. While they accept card, I'd recommend bringing cash as you get a slight discount. All in all, I'm happy with my choice, nails look great, and I will definitely be back! read more

This place has been a God send for me. After 15 years in NYC, I've finally found a nail salon I will never let go. This has become my regular spot for NexGen manicures and pedicures. My nails don't chip and they always last THREE WEEKS. Mike and Jojo care about the health of your nails. (Not to mention they are funny, kind, and always have good conversation with me.) The color selection here is great. They pay attention to detail and I leave in love with my nails every time! The shop is very clean and cute. Staff is lovely. Make an appointment though, as it's always busy. A lot of the negative reviews here are people just mad because they couldn't get a walk in. Also, get a pedicure here. Today was my 2nd appointment at Dolphin Spa and I honestly don't think I'll go anywhere else. I moved recently from CA and finding a new salon was a challenge from all the options around, but I'm so glad I found this place. While it's not updated like places that are closer to me, it's very clean and the tools come right out of the autoclave. Every client gets their own packaged tools, and cleanliness in a nail salon is really important to me. They take their time and do a really thorough job. This was my 2nd time doing powder gel, and Mike did a great job as usual. The first time lasted so long without any chips and I don't think I could ever go back to regular gel. Soaking off took longer but it's better than scraping it off like regular gel. He also mentioned trying not to hit your nails anywhere to preserve your nail health. My boyfriend and I also love their green tea spa pedicures. They really take their time cleaning your nails and scrubbing your feet. They even show you the 10 min timer for the massage (complete with hot stones). They're also very clean with painting! I usually do regular polish and idk what top coat they use but it never chips. They get really busy and it's hard to do a walk-in so I suggest booking an appointment either the day before or even the morning of if you want an afternoon slot. This may seem inconvenient but they really make sure they don't rush and don't overbook--so also be on time! I usually pay in cash but you can also pay for your service by card and tip in cash only. read more

I have gotten my nails done here 2x, so far so good. My first visit was several weeks ago to get Dip Powder done on my finger nails and a regular pedicure. The spa is not close to where I live but I read the reviews and decided it's worth the sojourn here. COVID- They do temp checks, offer hand sanitizer when you enter. Quite frankly, everyone should just go to bathroom and also wash their hands. Each station has those plastic drapes over it. Oh and be sure to call to make an appointment, vs just showing up. The spa is quite smaller to what I am used to however. The staff of 3 seem consistent because they were the same 3 there on my 2nd visit and the 3 certificates on the wall reflected these same 3 people. Basically, it's a small shop and this is why making an appt is also important. They seem to have frequent locals judging my the interaction of those who came and left whilst I was there. So that's good. My Dip powder experience was as expected. Initially I didn't like my color choice but it grew on me days later. My pedicure was also well done. They did charge $5 to remove prior powder application. If they did your powder and will be reapplying it, no fee. If you remove powder and get a non-powder service you will still get the $5 charge. Two fingers that I did the powder dip on did crack/chip. These two were on the same dominant hand. My other hand was perfect, so I give benefit of doubt and say some activity of mine set off the cascade of cracks. The thumb nail cracked but only on wk 4 did it actually chip off. I am not sure what instigated the crack. The middle finger, I basically chomped on accidentally while eating and that was an immediate chip that got worse. It seems that once a crack/chip has been made the whole foundation of the dip powder begins to unravel. So do take care not to cause a crack/chip in your dip powder nails. My 2nd visit to the spa, I took a break from the powder (as I have been getting them x 3.5months straight) and just got a regular manicure. read more

Amazing service! The people here are genuinely nice and you can tell they care about your experience. This was my first time here (and 2nd time getting nails done since the pandemic). I came here around 6:20 today (thursday) without an appointment and they gave me an accurate wait time of 20 mins since they were at capacity. I didn't want to wait inside since I didn't want anyone to feel rushed so I decided to take a walk over to 7th Ave and circle back. When I came back roughly 20 mins later they were expecting me and thanked me for coming back!! They provided me hand sanitizer before choosing a color and then I was seated for my pedicure. They lined the tub and ran the water and checked the temp with me to make sure I was good with it. The pedicure experience was great. Not rushed at all and he took the time to do my cuticles with 0 cuts!! Halfway through my pedicure (because I came near closing and they wanted to make sure we had enough time for drying) another person asked if they could do my manicure from the chair, but even then my manicure didn't feel rushed at all. Overall really great experience and next time I'll try to get here earlier on a weeknight or make an appt in advance! This is probably my new go-to spot in the neighborhood when I want a nice mani/pedi at a reasonable price point! read more

10/10 each time. Let's take a moment to discuss the cleanliness, efficiency and high regards to enforcing COVID-19 protocols. Upon entering, we were instructed to sanitize our hands and proceeded to pick our polishes for our nails. Mask were instructed to be worn while booking the appointment over the phone. Staff wore mask throughout the entire session. Each booth is separated by vinyl curtains to separate patronnes. A vinyl curtain also separates the customer and nail techinican at each station. Jojo (owner) sanitized each curtain between customers. I felt extremely safe and comfortable returning to Dolphin Spa post-pandemic lockdown. On to the nails, I did an SNS manicure with JoJo and she did an amazing job as per usual. She's so meticulous, making sure each step is done correctly. As thorough as she is, the entire manicure took approx. 20 minutes. Mike did my pedicure and he did an amazing job as well. Thanks a million! Highly recommend Dolphin Spa! I walked in on a Saturday and at first was gonna have to come back to have my nails done until I asked if I could get a pedicure. The reviews say walk in welcome but they are a small salon and work heavily off their schedule so I suggest calling in advance. It's not a flashy salon but everything is clean. My pedicure was probably the best I've had since being in NYC. I got the spa pedicure that included callous remover. They broke out the hot stones and everything. I did think the wrapping my legs in Saran Wrap then a towel covered with Saran Wrap was wasteful and environmentally cringey, but I guess so is the use of clean water. My gel powder set was the best. They soaked it completely off. I think this was the first person who's actually commented on the health of my nails. There was no high speed drill that burned my nail beds. It was perfect and they meticulously trimmed my cuticles after applying the powder. Oh yea bring cash. They accept card for service but charge a fee and you can only tip in cash. read more

I've been going to a different spot in park slope for over a year and more recently my dip powder kept cracking 2-3 days after I got them done! I was so frustrated so I took to yelp and searched for the best place in park slope for dip powder and I stumbled upon dolphin spa! Let's just say I was NOT disappointed! I saw Mike and he promised me my nails wouldn't chip and would just grow out! He was right on the nose! I had the powder on for an entire month(and I use my hands a lot for work) without a single chip or crack! They truly take their time to do what's best for your nails which I so appreciate! Also they are taking Covid precautions very seriously. Ensuring all guests sanitize the second they get in, cleaning down chairs in between customers, and partitions up. I called and made an appt a few hours before I arrived (it's not a big place so it's best if you make an appt). I opted for the green spa pedicure with gel. Total cost was $75. IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. First off the place is clean and doesn't stink like chemicals. The nail tech who did my pedicure was Summer and she was awesome. The pedicure lasted 1 hour and 22 minutes. Needed to get my nails done while visiting Brooklyn and found Dolphin Spa on Yelp. I didn't know what to expect because I'm a CA girl. It's a small shop (only 3 or 4 spa chairs) so they can't handle a large crowd, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I appreciated that they used clean tools and the attention to detail was excellent. I did the green tea spa pedicure and the product was terrific. Smelled great and made my skin super smooth. Small nail salon with only a few stations, so be sure to make an appointment! You can tell with one visit how loved this place is because of the number of regulars that come in. Give yourself about an hour for each service because the attention to detail they provide is unheard of. I've been a few times now for pedicures (complete with paraffin wax and hot stone massage) and NexGen powder gel. Before coming to Dolphin, I thought powder manicures looked too thick and stuck to gel. Initially, I was unsure about a man doing my manicures but I'm so happy with my nails - Mike is a complete pro and is very meticulous. $43 well spent because they last 3-4 weeks. I love coming here to get my nails done. Jojo and Mike are a lovely couple and run the spa with care and attention to detail. I come here to get NEXTGEN dipping powder manicure with Mike and have also had a pedicure. They use new tools and line the pedicure bowl with plastic - very sanitary. Most importantly- they honor appointments so get your scheduling on and self care my peepo!! This salon is not near my house but i make the trip to come get my nails done here for a reason.
