Amazing store on Ventura filled with beautiful tropical plants, mostly indoor but also outdoor. I walked into this store looking for one plant for my daughter's room and left with nearly 10. The place is like Sindbad's cave for houseplants. There are unusual philodendrons, diffenbachias, alocasias, Hoya, rare ferns, dracaena, bromeliads, and many others. The plants look healthy and vigorous. There's also a selection of charming pots and planters. The plants and planters can be bought separately. The horticulturist Mr. Leon Massoth is not only highly knowledgeable and passionate aboit all the plants but also super patient, kind and helpful. He knows the history of every single plant in his store, and tells their stories like Scheherazade! I spent an enjoyable hour in the store just looking around and learning about his bea. These are the plants I left with : 1. Vallaris- bread vine 2. Dracaena goldieana- African queen 3. Medinilla scorechini : lovely leaves and coral orange flowers 4. Kohleria sp. unidentified- velvety leaves and promise of spotted orchid like flowers , kind of like an African violet on steroids 5. Neoregelia: cute pink striped bromeliad for my daughter 6. Drosera capensis: tiny sundew in a cute elephant pot 7. Syngonium starlight: with amazing variegated leaves, each one like a watercolor painting 8. Magnolia figo- with banana scented flowers 9. Terrarium with Macodes- jewel orchid Leon kindly wrote up the care and watering instructions for each of my plants. I hope other people will discover the wonders of Florahound. Parking is difficult as with any place on Ventura in studio city. You can bring the car to the back if needed to load your plants once purchased.

A whole lot more. They also sell food, seeds, roots, soil, small, medium, large pots, different styles and colors of everything. Very durable and a tad expensive for my budget. Pots for your plants are so gorgeous. They do landscaping for people who own gardens (does not apply to me) and all the work the employees put in to those plants to make their customers happy and satisfied is a huge recognition. Employees are very knowledgeable, nice, and helpful. Also caring and understanding. A friend of mine had given me an indoor plant for my birthday last year and lasted me for a whole entire year and 3 months. It took the last breath and I went to them asking for help. It was a bit late. I am more of a flower girl than owning plants. I have had plants in my younger years. I ended up buying 2 new outdoor plants to put outside of my window/door. It looks very pretty. I have also purchased a Christmas tree from their lot twice. Established in 1889. That should say a lot about this lovely, beautiful garden/nursery. Big parking lot right in front of the nursery/shop, and 2 clean bathrooms. Thank you all.

While she was finishing it up, I wandered around their back garden area - and again was just reminded at how extraordinary it is that this oasis exists right in the middle of the city - it's literally like a small national park with all the fountains and waterfalls and stunning Landscaping - And just needed to again remind anybody anywhere between Burbank and Santa Monica - if you love stunning landscaping, gorgeous stonework water fountains, waterfalls, and breathtaking architecture... You absolutely have to stop by this extraordinary haven. On a sidenote - the owners love to stock up on handcrafted hand poured artisanal candles, soaps, and lotions, from the same shops that are stocked in five star resorts... But at half the price!!! So it's a great place to pick up gifts while you're there.
