That person wasn't home, it was a warm day and FG delivery guy didn't want flowers to wilt, chocolate to melt, so FG let me know what happened and then went back a second time, when the person was there--who was pretty thrilled with the delivery. I was shocked as we have ordered weekly from Floral Garders for over 20 years! This week we got our weekly delivery and some of the flowers were rotten. We called and the man who answered the phone was rude and told us that they obviously couldn't satisfy our needs. Reallly after 20 years! give me a break. Totally rude to a very long term customer. My wife was having one of those 'every 10 years' birthdays, and I wanted to surprise her with something big and splashy and colorful, as opposed to a couple of dozen long stemmed roses. I spoke with Michael, explained what I wanted, and asked for a price range. I went for the top of what he quoted me, and the result didn't disappoint. There were orchids, Bells of Ireland, peonies, allium, Calla lilies and several others I'd never seen before and couldn't identify if I tried. It was an altogether glorious result. read more

I'm a nurse so it's hard to make phone calls during my shift but I had to order flowers for my friend. This flower shop was recommended by a co-worker. I found them online and placed an order through their online service. I had a phone call during the day without voicemail but a page to call a number. I couldn't call until the end of the day after work. I saw that it was a Highland Park number and that it could be the flower shop so I called the number back. A person answered and I said I was returning a page. The person answered stating that it is a flower shop. I told the guy I had ordered flowers earlier for a recipient in Northbrook. He started to speak to me in an exasperated tone, he says he was the owner and that my order had to be cancelled. I was bewildered that they just go ahead and cancel my order without notice but before I could say a word, he asked me if I ordered online after 1pm, to which I confirmed. He continues in his exasperated voice that "not to minimize your event but I can't fulfill your order" because it was placed after 1pm and through online that I should have called, which he repeated several times. I said there were no voicemail and that I couldn't call during work and then he says, I should have called because if they tried to contact me through the online service, it would just cost them. I would have understood and would have arranged for another day but he was basically talking to me like it was my fault and made me feel that I have inconvenienced him, continuously in his exasperated voice. I apologized to him for taking up his time and that he can cancel the order, i even told him to have a nice day. I had to end the call as he kept yelling. Then I come home to this email from him with the emphasis on the time I ordered and that again I should have called.... "Dear J***, We received your order at 1:08 going to Northbrook. We are located in Highland Park. I tried to call you to let you know we had already gone to Northbrook and would not be able to deliver flowers that were ordered at 1:08, but would deliver them after hours as we had 20 deliveries still to make. Your phone service would not allow me to leave a message, only a return phone number, which I did. Had you called earlier, we would have been happy to deliver in Northbrook, but your order came in too late in the day. We are a small shop and only the 2 owners remain. We let our staff go in order to keep our customers safe, so we have a thin line for delivery. As a matter of fact, we do not advertise that we deliver to Northbrook as it is out of our delivery area. I'm sorry you were upset, but a simple phone call would have taken care of the issue. I will cancel the order immediately. Thank you, Floral Gardens" Wow! The online service allowed me to order for Northbrook delivery and allowed me to choose the same day. I was no longer upset with the cancelled order but of how I was treated and spoken to. The owner should cancel his online service as he can no longer meet the demand with respect. read more

I ordered a beautiful premium bouquet on line paying very high $$$. I also selected the box that said no substitutions. This florist shop delivered a completely different bouquet and then refused to fix it. The one delivered was not half as nice and so I simply asked for a credit of a small amount to offset the roses it was suppose to have. They refused and said they were going to go and take the flowers back from my friend! Don't use them. read more

Both of them possess numerous skills in making this a premier flower shop on the North Shore. Michael is a master designer in floral arrangements and Melinda takes care of the business end. I LOVE this flower shop! Rose and Renee and their crew are courteous and knowledgeable and willing to spend time with you making sure you get what you want. I ordered an arrangement for same day delivery and asked that it be a little "funky" for my artsy friend at a price range of about $50. She received the coolest arrangement of cabbages, succulents, berry branches, and moss--it was exquisite! I wish I had taken a picture. Too bad really-- business associate arranged for a tropical arrangement to be sent to my home. Delivery was made while I was traveling overseas. Arrived to find a beautiful arrangement of orchids and birds of paradise damaged from three days of rain-- Called to inquire why the delivery was made while I was traveling and put in a location where arrangement was damaged --blame was laid at the feet of their Wednesday delivery person--/they agreed to " make me happy" and sent out another arrangement. The next day a replacement arrangement was delivered --very small and very sad looking. Not sure who they will blame this time. Too bad really. read more

I called this morning at 9AM in a panic because I had forgotten my grandma's birthday, and the flowers were delivered by 11:30! I gave Floral Gardens free rein to design the arrangement while asking that the price (including delivery) be kept around $50. I was only charged $50.20, and I really love that they listened to my request (even though I wouldn't have complained if it was pricier). I called looking for an arrangement to be delivered the same day (it was already almost three) and they happily accommodated me (another flower shop I tried to call was already closed.) I had a general idea of what I wanted, but struggled to put it into words.
