Only felt compelled to write this now because my worst nightmare happened -- I lost my retainer just a few days ago (wrapped it in a napkin and husband threw it away! Don't do this!) Within a week of me contacting Tracy at the front desk they had mailed me a new set! I was pleasantly surprised that they still had scans of my retainer years after I finished my treatment and didn't have to go in to get new scans done! Tracy was on top of it !!! She kept me updated throughout the week and called me immediately after my retainer was delivered to make sure I received them and they still fit! Took my wife here in 2017 to get an implant crown replaced. That was fine, but somehow along the way, they convinced my wife to get veneers for her front 6 teeth. The veneers are not straight, and the teeth under the veneers hurt. Therefore, the veneers have to be replaced, despite Dr Allea Torres telling us that the veneers will hold up for at least 10 years. The procedure itself was very painful, but that might just be the poor quality of American healthcare (we are from Europe, and we prefer to travel there to take care of our medical needs). Also the prices were astronomical. By 2017 standards, $10,000 for 6 veneers was very expensive, which we found out when it was unfortunately too late. In short, we would not recommend getting your veneers done here. read more

Hands down - THE BEST Dentists in the Bay Area! Can't say enough good things about Dr. Torres (Dr. Alea and Dr. Ken). They have been our family dentist since my kids were both in elementary school (the eldest is graduating college next year, and the youngest is heading to college). This review is for Invisalign only. Now that I finished my Invisalign treatment, I'd like to share my experience to others who are considering getting Invisalign at Floresta Plaza Dental. Overall, I'm happy with the results but the ending process is was a little bit frustrating. I consulted for Invisalign in February this year and started wearing my first tray in March. I was given 10 sets to start with and easy instructions to change them out every 2 weeks. I loved the feeling of a new tray because after wearing it for at least 22 hours a day for 2 weeks, it gets rough on the surfaces and it stains (even if you didn't eat or drink with it on). I simply brush them with a toothbrush and toothpaste to keep them clean as much as possible. I had an appointment scheduled to come back for a check up after the first 10 sets were completed and was given the last 5 sets as promised. Then another appointment was scheduled 3 weeks after the very last set of Invisalign trays (15th set) in the beginning of October. I was excited that this appointment was going to be where they remove the attachments and set me up for retainers but no, it was simply just a "check up." The next available appointment they have after that wasn't until the end of November. So basically, I was wearing the last tray from September all the way thru December. That's 3 months using the same tray (that's only meant to be worn for 2 weeks). It had so many rough edges and was so stained. I called and asked them if it's possible to get another #15 tray but they basically didn't want to. I was to wait for my very last appointment and wait another 2 weeks after that to finally get a hold of one set of lifetime retainers. The staff here are really nice; all of the receptionists, the assistants and Dr. Ken is super friendly. The dentist is really clean and carefully follows safety COVID protocols. I just didn't like how the ending process was stretched out longer than it should be and how there wasn't any earlier appointments available. I feel that they should give at least 2 or 3 sets of the last aligners if they like to drag it out for too long. read more

I recently finished a 3yr Invisalign treatment. The staff is always friendly. Very clean facility as well. Looking at where my teeth started to where they are now it's hard to believe it's the same set of teeth! Considering where I started, my teeth look amazing and I wish I'd started treatment sooner. I removed one star because at my second to last appointment I was told the final appointment would be removal of attachments, smoothing of some ridges on my teeth, and whitening (which I was told at consultation would be included in the package I paid for), but only the attachments were removed. My teeth are still jagged, and they weren't whitened. When I said that one tooth was still rotated in a bit more than I like, Dr. Torres did offer to do another round of trays to correct it, but he was clearly irritated by it, and I felt rushed to finish treatment so I said I'd live with it. read more

Today I left the office crying due to frustration,felt being abandoned.I had 1 veneer tooth made by my dentist back home 4yrs ago,but it broke into half recently,both parts were intact and can glue it in my opinion but I'm not a dentist.Me and my hubby have been seeing the office since 2010 and honestly,if you read those reviews regarding pushing treatment,not knowing the cost before treatment,felt being rush,Dr.Allea is rude,not gentle,rushing and many more is TRUE because me & my hubby had all those experience.Back to my case, when my veneer broke into half last Nov 2023,Dr. Ken offered to crown it,no other option mention,no risk explain,I agreed to it expecting like my veneer will last that long,process is way too long have to come back and forth like 2-3appts and 1 appt was cancelled without informing me.My crown finally applied February 2024 by Dr. Allea,color doesn't match on my teetb but did not say anything coz I just want it done after long wait. After a month or March, crown broke into half,went to office and Dr.Allea glued them explaining it's because of my bite,it will be the problem, she made me a treatment plan for my whole teeth costing me 9k,told her I'll think about it,my tooth was glued and asked her if she can fix the glue since it is everywhere,very rough and it is not presentable, Dr.Allea commented she will fix it when I come back to do my treatment plan and I left the office just like that. After 2weeks today, I am back coz the crown that was glued split up again, due to my frustration, I am unable to eat well, speak and even smile, I have told her that if I should have known that crown will be like this and can be glued, I should have let me veneers just glued and did not agree to a crown that lasted a month, she is insisting that because of my biting which she wants to fix it. She has other treatment plan before for me like putting screw and tooth at the back of my upper gum and treatment plan for 1tooth with screw cost 14k which I did not agree at all.Now here's another plan of biting that cost 9k.My veneer lasted for 4years if my biting is the problem why it lasted that long and the crown that was made lasted for a month, I felt something is not right but she insisted because of my biting. Today she forced me to sign an agreement that she will refund for the cost of the crown to the insurance and agreed not to further treat it because I don't want to agree on her treatment plan because of financial reasons, I felt so abandoned that after touching my tooth, it is easy for her to just say, I will refund and will not treat. In the first place, if this was discuss before proceeding to crowning, then Dr. Ken should have said, will glue your veneer and refer you to specialist to fix it, you're biting is not good and cannot fix it, but this is not the case, instead it was filed to insurance and when things did not work, you're just going to say, will refund and find another dentist to fix it, can come back if you agreed with the treatment plan I have for you. The treatment was started by Dr.Ken but was pass on the Dr.Allea to finish it, I don't know why it was not finished by Dr. Ken but did not hear anything from him even he is there in the office. Now I am thinking, if all along this is their plan? To get money from insurance knowing it will be a failed plan then have a treatment plan that will have to offer and you need to do it because they will not treat you anymore. For the refund issue from the insurance, before coming today, I have already contacted my insurance informing them that the crown lasted for a month and asking their guidance, my insurance have already filed a grievance to them just in case they will not treat it, per my insurance if I go to other dentist to fix it, insurance can cover same tooth as long as grievance have been filed, maybe they got the memo already and just to clean up their hands on the wrong plan that was placed, easy to say, will refund treatment cost to insurance. I left the office today crying, with that letter stating that they will refund the cost and will not treat that tooth anymore after manipulating it and they give me a referral to prosthodontics which could have been done before doing treatments. I hate giving reviews because it requires some time but if this review of mind validate those previous reviews then be it, just wanted to help others and advice that you can always call your insurance for guidance which I have learned yesterday, they will be your advocate and even give you information how to file a complaint.My advice, always ask for pre-authorization for your treatment plan before agreeing and booking those appointments, they can get pre-auth from insurance in 5-10min so you know the cost before showing up to that appointment and get billed.One more thing, cleaning is only covered for twice a year, not every 3mos. read more

WARNING! DO NOT GO TO FLORESTA FOR INVISALIGN!! I have been wearing the same aligners since early May. My teeth were done and good to go on my visit on 5/28. I was then given a whitening stick and told to use that and come back July 2nd. Im thinking because the dentist was on vacation or something. By then I was wearing the same aligners for almost 2 months and my teeth moved. (The same aligners should not be worn for longer than 3 weeks.) They ordered me a new set and told me just a few more weeks. I am still waiting almost 4 months later. My teeth are moving back to the way they were before and the aligners are 5 1/2 months old. So, I've spent 3 grand to damage my teeth with not much straightening. They never once called me to keep me updated on anything. They were rude and dismissive every time I called. My teeth weren't so bad. I had braces as a teen. Just wanted them back. This has been the worst mistake I have made in years. Luckily my mom is an attorney and knows people to help me out. read more

Everyone there is great and I still don't know what chapstick they give you but it's the BEST (I heard it's Apple Burt's bees but nothing is as good as this one they give me) the office is so nice and clean. This is a spotlessly clean, beautiful facility with a lot of bells and whistles! They have TVs for you to watch in the chair which also doubles as a screen for you to watch them take pictures of your teeth, which is cool because they can show you what they're talking about as they describe the condition of your teeth. The dental staff & primary dentist were friendly & personable. My experience with Olga at the front desk however was quite opposite. She made me sign a form indicating that I have received/reviewed policy for which I had not, and told me I had to sign regardless in order to be seen at my appointment. She was also the person who at the end of my appointment, did my consultation to talk about pricing and dental work recommendations. They were really trying to push a deep clean recommendation, even though I have never needed one before in my life. When going over the total cost for services, it exceeded $3,000.00 & considering we were already in the month of August, I told Olga, that I would like to space out the services between now and next year, so that my insurance plan can cover the expenses and I wouldn't have to come out of pocket. Olga did not like this comment, she immediately tried to convince me why I shouldn't do that, and that I needed to schedule all the work done this year. She then said deep cleanings are not covered under my insurance and that I needed to provide them with a $300 deposit before leaving, along with a $50 deposit for the visit. I paid both charges and immediately went to work to follow up with my insurance broker to receive clarification on my insurance coverage. My broker informed me that this office was in-network so I should not have been charged $50 fee, and also deep cleanings are covered, so I shouldn't have paid for this either. I called the office back and spoke with Olga, who clearly was taking advantage of me, and I am sure I am not the only one, I just happen to be the only one who takes the time to ask the right questions from my insurance, rather than be played & taken advantage of by the dental office. I explained everything over the phone to Olga and asked that I be refunded my money because I had no plans on returning to this office. Olga never once did she apologize, and even on the phone she was being deceitful and saying now that the $50 was not for the deductible, but it was for a fluoride charge, I said that is NOT what you said, so now you are changing the story. The only reason why I came to this office was because it was recommended by a colleague, they didn't know that at the time of my visit, but perhaps if I would have said so, they wouldn't have tried to take advantage a new customer. read more

Staff rarely answers the phone and are not very helpful when they do. They talked me into getting Invisalign when I wanted traditional braces They stated it would be faster and cheaper I had Invisalign for about 4 years and was very unhappy with the result and I am now going to get traditional braces as an adult. My parents are also patients here they pulled my fathers tooth and then never sent his pain meds to the pharmacy and then closed so we weren't able to get ahold of anyone till the weekend was over. They also made him pay in advance for procedures he never got done and when he suddenly passed away we asked for a refund and they gave us 30 dollars when he paid hundreds. Where do I start, this will be long so I apologize now. When I first found Floresta Plaza Dental many years ago, they were slow and looking for patients and they really appreciated having a new patient. I would tell people it was like going to a spa. Everyone was really nice and they all greeted you and they took their time and discussed options with me. I use to see Dr. Ken Torres from the beginning. I have some sensitive areas due to previous surgery so he was always very gentle and kind. He was wonderful to my child as well. After the pandemic and we started returning to "normal" and resuming appointments, they were clearly playing catch up and trying to accommodate everyone that needed a cleaning and care. When we returned Dr. Allea Torres started seeing us. She is not nice, she is always short, rushed and rude. She always does the final check and walks off and doesn't allow questions. She's not gentle and even pretty rough even with my child. She got upset because she recommended veneers and I've opted not to get them for now. I have great teeth and have a minor chip. She said I looked like a "snaggle tooth" and laughed. She said, we've been suggesting this for years and you won't do it. I told her that my issue isn't that visible and getting veneers for aesthetics isn't my number 1 priority. Sadly, we were never treated by Dr. Ken again and it seemed like the service went down hill from there. They were making errors, decisions without my consent and just rude every time. They bill me for random items that were never disclosed up front and the customer service when I inquire about anything is horrible. They get really upset and have an attitude like how dare I question a doctor. I referred my husband, several coworkers and elderly friends who I think they take advantage of. They say, we're going to schedule you for certain procedures (which are all aesthetic related) and are really pushy about it. They don't ask if you want it or tell you to think it over, they say the front desk will schedule your appointment for that and they'll see you back in a few months. It's become very pushy salesman like, all about making that dollar. I'm very sad about the change in their care, this used to be a really great place. I didn't want to write a review at first but after the last year of care for my family and friends I know now it's not just a one time occurrence. read more

Alright folks. Now I've been an anti-dentite all my live and have been searching for a dentist who's touch is so gentle, it can make a grown man cry. Yep, I found it right here in sunny San Leandro. Now my eyes have teared up at other dental offices before, but it was usually from the dentist hitting nerves they really shouldn't. I have recommended this place to my mom's club for months because of how wonderful they are with children. If you bring your kids along with you, the little ones can play in a special children's room equipped with toys, tv, and video games. And the staff even chased my one year old around while I was getting drilled! If you're bringing the kids in for a dental appointment, they can watch TV while having their teeth checked and the staff just does a fabulous job with them. So, huge bonus points for this place if you have children. And, if you don't have kids, then you should absolutely still go here! The dentists are so gentle and kind and they have all of the latest equipment. They are honest with you and charge a fair price and give excellent advice. They do things like make notes about teeth to watch rather than encourage you to have work done on teeth that don't really need it yet. I was referred to Floresta Plaza Dental by a friend in 2011. I have seen a lot of dentists in my lifetime and found that I wasn't getting the personal attention until I had my first appointment at Floresta. What I found was missing from my other dentist visits was the sense of concern and compassion which I received at Floresta. The dentists were informative and happy to explain everything that was being done. I appreciate that they explained what process was taking place, not very many other dentist will take the time to explain to you what caused them to do the necessary treatment and why. The technology that they use is a definite plus; digital x-rays and monitors that show you live images of your mouth. It is nice to have dentists that are up to date on new technology. I currently live 2.5 hours away. So, when I came into town to visit family, my crown had fallen out and I was in pain. I called them to book an appointment and they fit me in right away. Dr. Torres was able to salvage my crown and gave me options based on what I could afford to proceed with fixing my crown situation. The office staff is always accommodating and work with my schedule. I am not one to write reviews, but a good dentist is hard to find and now that I am getting older it is nice to have found one. read more

I don't recall waiting longer than 5 or 10 minutes to be seen-even if I am a bit early. I just met with Dr. Allea to talk about implants-which are pricey.
