My experience with Floriole is that it is inconsistent and overpriced. Let's start off with the good, the interior of Floriole is beyond cute and cozy. They have ample seating even on a busy weekend morning. The food has been inconsistent. I have had the chocolate croissant where it was beyond exceptional - one of the best I ever had. And then the following week it was so subpar, a step above Starbucks. When you are charging over $6 for 1 pastry it should be consistent with the taste and quality. All of their other pastries are $6+ as well and none of them have wowed me for what I have tried. For coffee, the only non dairy milk option is oat milk. They also charge $1.25 to add it to any latte. Service has also been inconsistent. I have been here where the staff is very nice, helpful and hospitable and then the opposite. I ordered a croissant and wasn't asked if it was for takeaway or dine in - they just threw it in a bag. They seemed to be asking every other customer if their orders were for dine in or takeaway. I was planning on dining in but I wasn't even asked. Overall, this isn't somewhere I will be going out of the way for. if I am in the neighborhood then sure but other than that I am out. read more

I will admit ids really difficult to write a lengthy review when I just purchased one chocolate croissant online, since that's the only way to purchase anything from Floriole. A lot of these bakeries are doing this and it it might be because everyone is struggling to employ workers, but I sure miss the good ol days when you can walk into a bakery, look at what they have and buy a few things. I truly hate online food shopping. Despite all that, the girl that have us our online order was very kind and I was able to get my croissant in minutes. The croissant itself tasted fresh. Great pastries - we loved the poached cherry elderflower tart. The chocolate croissant was one of the flakiest croissants we've ever had. We showed up at 9:30am on a Saturday and the line was short so no need to order ahead of you want to see the pastries and make a game time decision. Most seating outdoors was taken but there's lots of seating inside. Nice staff. Good selection of beverages including bottled juices and sparkling stuff. The aesthetic appeal inside is a reason why you should come here. A gem in Lincoln park! They close at 2pm and I wouldn't reccomend coming here near closing time. I came here near closing time and the food I wanted ran out and they kept up messing up my coworkers drink. The lovely staff made it up to me and gifted me a croissant, which they didn't have to but they could tell how much I wanted that Parisian sandwich. We knew we were coming in late but weren't prepared for them to take so long to get our food/drinks ready. Also late in the day the cutlery and napkins we needed were out. The items are pricy so if you are price sensitive I wouldn't order a lot. Lincoln park has a certain clientele if you know what I mean... I would reccomend ordering TO GO close to them closing and suggest management to close off the upstairs seating area before people go upstairs to avoid this in the future. I would get if they told me they closed it to clean up so they could go home early! This spot is good fo 1-1s and meeting up friends. There's a park nearby so I would reccomend getting anything to go and having a picnic at the park! read more

I knew I was playing a dangerous game when I moved down the street from Floriole. Every chance I get, I am here buying more pastries. Friends in town? Need to get them some quiche. Had a late night? No better way to recover than a chocolate croissant. Feeling sad for no reason? Nothing a sticky bun cannot fix. Coming here and trying all the pastries has been one of my favorite parts of living in Lincoln Park. (Pro tip: there is nothing better for a picnic at the lake than the Parisian sandwich. It is simple but absolutely perfect.) So why only four stars? First is the cost. I spent $20 on two pastries and an espresso this morning. Second is the coffee. It's just not very good. Luckily the pastries more than make up for these things, but you should keep these in mind when you visit. read more

This place is still really solid and food is still so very good. I know the menu has been pared down a bit. Im a fan of the quiche, but they used to do a nice little side salad with the quiche. They have since eliminated that and you get no sides with your meal. So you get a plate with just the quiche....its kind of anticlimatic. Very friendly staff--greetings when you walk in and leave. Quiche slice was surprisingly buttery soft for being reheated--really delicious. Didn't come with anything. The space with lofted seating above is really cool. Although they have signs over every table saying it closes at 2p "sharp,"--signs like this make me imagine librarian-like managers that see their customers as annoying. Unusually, no WiFi provided despite the larger seating area. Water cups provided at water stations- the first two cups I picked up from the "clean" pile were cloudy and greasy. Yikes. Third was clean. Drip coffee is $4.5 which is much higher than most similar places, and quality was fine but not what you'd go for. read more

We tested quiche from multiple places on the north side, and all were unimpressive or just plain awful. I was talking with a co-worker, who swears by Floriole. The quiche from Floriole is thick, custardy and pure silky deliciousness. I ordered 3 whole quiches for a bridal shower and our guests raved about it. Y'all need to do a better job in advertising because I only found you through word of mouth and I tried lots of different Google searches, Door Dash searches and ezCater searches and your name never came up as a quiche provider. The only thing that would make this perfect if you could deliver them hot at the event time. Having to heat them up definitely gave us some logistical challenges because the venue didn't have an oven. Highly recommend them! read more

I'm on a quest to find the best almond croissant in Chicago! I found out about Floriole through an article on the best almond croissants in Chicago in none only than the Chicago Tribune and had to give Floriole a try. Because I'm not the only one with an affinity for French pastries in Chicago, I ordered 1 almond croissant online, ahead of my arrival. And I recommend anyone do the same. When I arrived, pick up was super easy and quick. I just walked in and up to the register, gave my name, and the infamous almond croissant went away with me. I gave it a little heating at home because I love a warm almond croissant and the first thing I'll note is how well the almond croissant held its form. There was your standard croissant flakiness, but nothing so severe that hinted at staleness or overworking the dough. The croissant's layers stayed intact and took minimal pulling to enjoy each fold. I couldn't tell the croissant was twice-baked just by looking at it but the additional heating and toasting are most evident when eating the crust. The ratio of almonds to croissant was well balanced; and the croissant's center was just decadent. It's frangipane, soaked with rum syrup according to their website, was absolutely perfect. It melted in my mouth and is honestly what I imagine pastries in heaven taste like. I'm only rating this 4 stars because the outer layer of the croissant had a brawny or slightly burnt taste that I just didn't like. I felt myself rushing through the outer shell of the croissant and only slowing down for the center. I'm super curious what these would taste like baked once or if the taste is from a combination of additional heating and the dough. Otherwise, I see why they are ranked highly by others in the city! read more

Recommend you order ahead - went last weekend and they sold out of their croissants by 11:30am. Tried preordering this morning - was a breeze. Website is intuitive, and you wait outside and tell them your name once you arrive. They are on the pricier side ($5 - $6 for a croissant), but it was a worth it. The almond croissant was decadent, crispy, gooey, and what you would imagine in a sweet pastry. Soaked in rum syrup... need I say more? Made the mistake of having the almond before the butter, because the butter tasted a bit saltier than anticipated (not mad about it). In my bag, I got a Honey Pecan Sticky Bun (croissant dough rolled with brown sugar and cinnamon and baked in a honey caramel with pecans), a Buckwheat Scone (made without wheat flour. A hearty earthy and crumbly scone with a raspberry belly button. Contains dairy), and pistachio pastry. All were so good but the overall winner, I think was the pistachio. Very busy. The baked goods are average. I was in line to order, and one of the people from the shop brought some samples for the people in line. Plenty of sweet and savory options, and we haven't gone wrong with any of them yet. What a gem of a bakery! My friend and I split the butter croissant and quiche and all I can say is chef's kiss...it's no wonder they sell out so quickly. The service was phenomenal, especially considering how many questions we asked. They close at 2 but by that point they're pretty much almost out of everything anyways. The iced chai is also amazing, I could've sworn I was drinking ice cream :) there are two floors, but there's no Wi-Fi! So no opportunity to co-work here. I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt - it's COVID and so I'm sure they're running with some limitations . By the time I got there a lot of the items were already sold out (not their fault but slightly disappointing!) I grabbed the ham and Swiss sandwich , the bread was fairly hard and seemed like maybe it was slightly older , which was disappointing , would have loved if the sandwich was warmed up a bit - it was also pretty pricey for what it was . Pretty sweet spot in Lincoln Park. There are plenty of pastries and natural light - I can easily picture myself spending a day there with a book in one hand and cup of coffee in the other. Some of the items that we have tried: 1) The chocolate croissant needs a little more fluff but the dark chocolate is a plus. 2) The chai latte was very creamy. It could use a little less milk and a little more spice. 3) The quiche with ham was a pleasant surprise and my favorite item. new favorite cafe!! love everything about this place, from the staff to the pastries and coffee. the girl that took my order was so sweet and when i was leaving another worker even gave me a free canele! i got the iced lavender latte with oat milk, my first time trying a lavender latte and it was so good! if you like the flavor of tea, you will love it. i also got an artichoke and cheese pastry (unfortunately forgot the name...), a nice portion of tasty artichoke and warm flakiness that made me want more. theres a small nice seating area on the main floor and i spent an hour getting some work done, there isnt much noice or chaos so its a good place to relax or bring some friends. as i was leaving, i took two passionfruit tarts for my family to try. i will say though the pastries are a bit pricey but the pretty presentations and ingredients make it worth it i think, especially if youre just treating yourself to something good. also consider parking because most of the spots around the area are full! read more

Their almond croissant and peach coconut taste were among one of top level of those Chicago area sweets for me, so far. There was a short waiting line when we arrived at the shop on the Sunday morning. But they take online? Order if you don't want to wait , actually a lot of pre-ordered customers came whilst waiting. We tried a peach coconut tarte and an almond croissant, both was top-notch level in Chicago. Of course we have much more greater shops in Tokyo, but at least here in Chicago, as we didn't expect that we could find such a high quality bakery-cafe, it was a good surprise. I stopped in Floriole Cafe & Bakery last week to have some coffee & get some work done. It's a fairly big shop with a good number of seats on the main floor but even more upstairs! They have a huge selection of baked goods to choose from and choose I did! I ended up trying their Chocolate Hazelenut Cookies ($2.75) and loved it, the Peanut Butter Jelly Cookie ($1.75) which was a bit dry but the flavor was spot on and the Gingerbread Snowflake Cookie ($2.50) which again was a little dry but had some nice spice to it. On the coffee front, I ordered the 12 ounce Latte for $4.64. I was a bit sad the foam was a muddled mess and they didn't attempt any cute coffee art, but I powered through the pain. They are a part of the A La Card Cheap Eats Deck so you can use the $5 off $10 card! Woohoo. Wouldn't hesitate to come here again to get some work done. read more

Floriole was the second stop on my canele tour. After having come from another location and still not having my canele itch scratched came here because it was the location 2 that came up on the search. Frankly, I should have come here first. The space is, honestly, gorgeous. It's a remodeled home with tons of light and even though I was full and just wanted a pastry and a lemonade I ended up ordering their quiche because not only was it there, it looked tasty...also because the breakfast burger was unavailable because they were out of brioche. The quiche though was great, I got the meat option and I usually it's pretty sparse. The slice was pretty packed with lardons and the crust, was light and buttery. Cute cafe in Lincoln Park that's great for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon latte. The space is cute with plenty of seating, and there a few tables outside as well. I got the quiche of the day which was a tomato arugula gruyere quiche. It was a pretty small $10 slice, and I couldn't really taste the gruyere, but it was good. I wish the side "salad" had a few more ingredients besides vinegar-dressed greens. I also got a chai latte which again was pretty tiny and pricey and not as sweet as I would have liked. Not sure if I'll be back in the future, but maybe the pastries in the glass display have more potential. read more

Oh this place is darling. Be prepared to spend $16 on a latte and a pastry, but in my experience on this beautiful Sunday, it was absolutely worth it. I got the spiced Rooibis latte and was a huge fan. Was nervous it would taste too strong/ have too much of a bite, but I drank it so fast, it was so enjoyable. I also treated myself to an almond croissant (not warmed). It was amazing. Not overly sugary/syrupy - the perfect amount of flakey and sweet. I was worried it would be dry like most almond croissants are but it was not. Truly a fabulous pastry. Cute indoor space and great little outdoor patio as well. Another classic example of "I've walked by a million times and never stopped in!" Floriole is in CLOSE proximity to my favorite bakery, so I've never made it a point to stop here until my friend and I needed a chic place for a coffee date. Enter Floriole. Plenty of caffeine-free tea options, hot or iced, and beautiful seating made this a dream place! The desserts are too die for, and if you happen to be there until closing like we were, you may score yourself a free loaf of SUPERB bread. I may or may not have devoured half the loaf for dinner.
