This is a contracted vendor w/ our wedding venue, Moana Surfrider. Our ceremony package included a bouquet and boutonniere. I had sent a picture of the bouquet I wanted many months in advance to which it was confirmed that it would be included. However, 3 weeks prior to our wedding, we were told that we would not only be upcharged an extra $150+ but the actual bouquet included in our package was way off from what we had agreed upon. We were also told that not only would we be charged but we wouldn't be guaranteed peonies. I had also previously inquired about a floral arch to which the pricing came back to be $2,800. Followed up asking if we took out 1 foot worth of flowers, how would that change the pricing to which the answer was that it would be the same cost. Like, whaaat? In the end, this was resolved as we brought this up with our event manager. read more

Our wedding venue, The Kahala, has a contract with Florist Grand so they push all their couples to use them. The package we chose included a bouquet and groom's boutonniere so we met with Evan to go over what we wanted. While we met with him he went over all flowers that we would potentially need and he sent us a quote. So thankful I double checked his prices because they are insanely marked up! He quoted us $75 for Italian Ruscus to decorate our cake while Wantable only charged us $15! 5x markup! Because of their insanely marked up prices, we ended up splitting up our flower order with multiple vendors and couldn't be happier with the result. Overall we saved over $1k by not using Florist Grand. During our consultation, I sent him multiple pictures of what I wanted in my bouquet and he completely messed it up - the flowers delivered on my wedding day were wilted and the colors were much more muted from what I wanted. The boutonniere he provided looked so sad and looked cheap in quality compared to the mother's lapel corsage I ordered from Cindy's Lei's for only $15 vs Evan charging $45! We wanted the Arch piece to match the bouquet so decided to use Florist Grand and that is my biggest regret from the entire wedding. The Arch piece ($450) from Evan - once again, the colors were messed up, flowers were wilted and the arch piece was much smaller in size to what I envisioned. Word of advice: Shop around and compare prices. Florist Grand charges a high markup for cheap quality flowers read more

They are extremely overpriced; $350 + tax for a bridal bouquet, and $150 for 3 flowers as the cake topper. Although the flowers were fresh and beautiful, I didn't get exactly what I wanted. They used the wrong color ribbon on the bouquets; I asked for "Tiffany blue", but they gave me baby blue. I only used them bc they are contracted with the kahala. I shoulda shopped around. read more

After sending out a RFP, we chose Evan and team for our wedding. My budget was limited and Evan worked with us to get what we needed. Thinking about it now, I am impressed how drama free the whole thing turned out. I am on East Coast and worked with Evan entirely through email. Once everything was decided, the plan was executed without my any involvement. Everything was setup beautifully on time, just like the pictures. The bouquet arrived at the exact time that was promised. They must have worked with the venue extremely well because I did not do anything. Now, the flowers themselves were incredible. My mom talks about them to this day, the most beautiful she's seen. She tried to bring everything back to the hotel after the wedding :) Sure, wedding stuff is never cheap, but I feel like I got a great experience and there's no doubt these folks are on top of their game. This review is long overdue. It took us a long time to settle on a florist for our wedding but after seeing what Evan created in the past, we knew that he was the right one for us. We explained the look we wanted and gave him free reign to execute. And execute he did. Our guests (along with us) were amazed at the beautiful displays he created for the ceremony. Florist Grand is Evan Morita. Came to Honolulu from SF. He is partnered with all of the top hotels on the island, does many of their hotel displays and special events. Rumor has it that he orders his flowers direct, so actually goes to the airport to receive them. (Others go through distributors). Implies he has the freshest, longest lasting arrangements. Event flowers can run ~$250 per centerpiece, which is the high side of top standard. His trademark is cosmopolitan, avant garde designs and several event coordinators describe his work as less traditional and "edgy". Very prompt responses, very professional conduct. We were captivated by Evan Morita's work even before we consulted him for our wedding flowers. In person, he was such a pleasure to work with - extremely gifted, patient, and knowledegable. He was able to take the overall color scheme of our wedding, a basic direction in terms of style and size, and create arrangements that became focal points at our wedding. His bouquets, bouttonieres, and centerpieces really "made" the reception decor, and made for beautiful photographs. I was really excited to receive a quote from Florist Grand, unfortunately they are way overpriced. Living on the island, I know how much a kukui nut lei costs, so I was shocked to see on the proposal $25.00 per lei. You can find them under $10.00 anywhere. I booked Florist Grand for my wedding on Sunday May 28th at The Modern Honolulu. I went to ore than 10 florists for quotes on what I needed, and the most expensive quote i received was 9000USD! Florist Grand was much more reasonable, coming in around 2800 - 3000 (still waiting on my final invoice) For this they did my archway florals, cocktail hour florals (x 4), my bouquet, groom's boutineer and 9 x table centrepieces for my reception (4 really large ones and 5 smaller ones). I will post more photos once they are received, but every arrangement was spectacular and right on brief. Really stylish. It was perfect. 5 stars. Would book again. read more

We used this vendor for the bride bouquet, groom boutonnière, and ceremony arch piece because that's what came with out wedding package from the Kahala. I'm so glad we didn't use them for anything else as a family friend did the rest of the florals for the wedding. My bouquet was missing the two-tone flowers which I stressed I wanted, about 30% of the flowers were VERY wilted, and the bouquet was a super awkward shape. I asked for the draping bouquet but instead got one with straight stems but the "draping" look in the front. So instead of being able to hold it in front of me I had to hold it at my side. And that thing was HEAVY. It was so awkward I finally gave up holding it after the ceremony and so it's not in half the portraits. I also wanted to dry the bouquet and boutonnière for keepsakes but the hubby threw away the boutonnière immediately after the wedding because, "it was wilted and ugly," according fo him. For a guy to say that it's got to look pretty bad. read more

We just had our wedding at the Kahala Hotel this past weekend and LOVED everything that Evan and Florist Grand did for us. I got my bridal bouquet, my bridesmaids bouquets, the grooms orchid maile lei, my hair flowers, my flower girls' petals, cake decorations, and a gazebo arrangement - loved the gazebo piece!! I planned the wedding from California and did all my corresponding with Evan via email...his responses were prompt and everything turned out exactly as I had imagined it. When I first started planning, his prices scared me, and I almost downgraded my gazebo piece to a smaller size one, but I am SOOO happy that I didn't, I went with the standard size gazebo piece and LOVED it. Florist Grand was recommended to us by the Kahala where we held our wedding. From the first we were so impressed by his artistry in the various books that we viewed of his work. We met with Evan and talked over our color themes and by going through the books of his previous work he gleaned what we really liked and didn't like. From there he put together amazingly beautiful floral arrangements for our wedding. He is definitely on the expensive side but everything was just so gorgeous and exactly what I had envisioned. He was very friendly, professional and I just couldn't and wouldn't have asked for anything different in what he did both for the wedding aisle arrangements, the reception centerpieces and the cake decorations. The flowers have also been lasting magnificently. We were able to re-use the centerpieces for a brunch the following morning and two days later one of the centerpieces is in our living room and my bouquet is in a vase looking as gorgeous as ever.
