They…read moreuse coconut water instead of dairy, so I went in expecting Melo Melo or Hui Lau Shan but it was completely different. For those that had fresh fresh coconut water, there's a bit of a bite unlike store bought ones and so the jelly had an aftertaste that was not creamy. It wasn't my cup of tea but if you're looking for vegan coconut jelly, KOKONUT can give that to you!

On the way back to our hotel, the Marriott Courtyard, Rancho Bernardo. We had just had dinner with 25 of the many other out of town guests, at The Cork and the Craft. Though we had just finished dinner, and had a 5 minute drive back to the hotel, our passenger, (my brother-in-law) expressed that he was still hungry and would like to stop for ice cream somewhere on our way back to the hotel. Not knowing anything about the area, with a very small window of opportunity, I checked Yelp, on my phone, for a good, appropriate place to stop. KOKONUT-Golden Spoon popped up, as being right along our short route back, and with 4.5 stars, a definite YES! We learned that they have an option of frozen desserts made with coconut water, instead of milk. We did not try it. All 4 of us had frozen yoghurt. We were all happy with our selections.

First of all, I want to say this has been one of my favorite coffee spots in san diego for years…read more The campfire mocha is amazing and worth every penny. Ive brought friends here in the past and have always gotten positive feedback afterwards. Recently though, it feels like it's lost a little of its charm. The menu needs updating because with all the crossed out items on the board, it looks a little low end and like they're out of things. But they also always seem to be out of multiple items when I come these days. There's no food options any more most of the time, but the display cases remain. And seating... it feels like they got rid of 1-2 tables and the tables that were outside. There never seems to be enough seating so it's both cramped while also empty looking now. They have these side benches to sit on, but no one ever uses them because they're not super comfortable or good to chat with anyone with. Also, the bathroom. It's usually open, but twice now Ive been in there where there's zero toilet paper or the paper towel dispenser is out, but someone has just put a roll on top to tear at your own will. I loved this place so I hate saying more negative than good. The drinks remain amazing, but for a spot that is so popular, it's losing some of its own charm.

This is a small but cute donut shop in the big lot by Target in Poway…read more These doughnuts are really fun if you're looking for something different (but don't expect super airy and bread-like doughnuts) they are chewy, but that's what makes them fun! I thought they tasted pretty good the next day too (as opposed to typical donuts that really need to be eaten as soon as possible.) I really enjoyed the mango icing on mine and would definitely get more of these again. I look forward to trying the ube and some of the more unique flavors they offer. This place is definitely a potentially fun dessert stop to try with friends. Something good to grab and go (not much seating inside if you're wanting to sit).

My donut has a mochi like quality. Nice chew. "Toothsome" some might say... I'll save "mouthfeel" for other things. I decided to go passion fruit flavor because after the lemon it's my favorite fruit. I'm also missing my usual travels to SE Asia (soon I'll be going) and so thought it would nice to sneak a taste. Unfortunately, the flavor was more perfume like, and not actually tangy like a nice passionate fruit. I knew it was a risk but when you're hankering for some mochinut in your mouth, you apt to get a little wild choosing flavors. It's a bit more expensive than I thought at over $4 for one. Luckily my hot date paid, though I'm thinking he thought I was talking about something else when I explained my craving! I'd give it another try.
