We hired Peggy for our wedding in June 2022. I initially found her through my own wedding vendor research, but she was also recommended by our original wedding planner (we ended up switching since she had too many personal commitments to follow through, but that's another story). Peggy was EASILY one of our top 2 vendors for the entire wedding. Her cakes and desserts are beautiful, delicious, and well-made. Relatives and other people had recommended for me to go for a "display" cake with cheap grocery store or bargain sheet cakes for the guests, as "no one cared about dessert" - but I cared! I have a huge sweet tooth and I love desserts! Peggy's cakes were perfectly moist, flavorful, and a perfect balance of sweetness. I had a tasting with one other dessert vendor, and their cake was much drier in comparison. Not only that, but Peggy's cakes are gorgeous! We immediately booked with Peggy and ended up ordering two cakes (one two-tiered and one one-tiered), since we liked both flavors so much. We also added a variety of desserts, which we did not have the opportunity to try during the tasting (I don't blame her, there were a lot of options!). After we had booked her, we went to a wedding expo to scope out some other vendors we hadn't yet booked, and Peggy happened to be there too! We tried one of her newer desserts that hadn't been available on her original ordering menu, and it was so amazing that we emailed her right after the event to add it to our order. At our wedding, the caterer put out the desserts towards the end of cocktail hour instead of at the end of the night, and one of the desserts actually ran out before the catering or our planner could put some aside for us! We told Peggy, and she was kind enough to whip up a batch for us when we dropped by to return her rentals. Even though we ordered more cake and desserts than was recommended for a wedding party of our size, and even with dozens of guests cancelling their RSVPs, we had no dessert left at the end of the wedding! I was actually looking forward to leftover wedding cake, haha. Not only was it a highlight of my wedding day, Peggy was so overwhelmingly easy to work with. She had everything together, and unlike other vendors, she did not forget any of our requests. She delivered exactly what we asked for, and did so flawlessly which took a lot of stress out of one part of wedding planning. I would not hesitate to order a cake or desserts again from her if I could. 10/10, would not hesitate to hire Peggy again.

10/10 for Peggy and her beautiful cakes!!! We used Peggy for our wedding in March 2024 and she created the MOST GORGEOUS and DELICIOUS CAKE OF OUR DREAMS. Peggy is so sweet, creative, kind, and professional. She takes the time to really understand your vision and pull all your input in to make the most perfect cake for your day and style. From the cake tasting, which she thoughtfully prepared with labels/cute packaging/adorable napkins, to the planning calls, to the wedding day itself, she was amazing throughout the whole process! All her cakes are also DELICIOUS and perfectly moist. We honestly had a hard time deciding which flavors to choose but ended up going with Lemon cake ( sponge cake with lemon curd and lemon butter cream) and Vanilla cake with passionfruit curd, mascarpone, blueberries sauce, and cream cheese frosting! I also want to note prior to Peggy, we tasted several different cakes and desserts from various local shops and none were as good or fresh as Peggy's! Come our wedding day, it was so much fun to see what Peggy had created and we truly were in LOVE with this tasty and gorgeous work of art! PEGGY IS THE BEST AND SO ARE HER CAKES - book her for your wedding or any occasion, you won't regret it!! Thank you so much Peggy for making such a special cake. We are so very grateful!!

Peggy is the absolute best and I'm so happy that she was available to create all the desserts for my wedding! She is so sweet, incredibly talented, and has a great eye for designing the perfect cake for her couples! She has a wide range of flavors to choose from and makes the cake designing process really fun and easy. She is truly an artist and amazing baker/pastry maker. My husband and I had a great tasting experience and left excited with a box of our leftover treats to enjoy on the car ride home. It was a hard decision because they were all amazing, but we ended up picking the vanilla cake with passionfruit curd, mascarpone cream, blueberry sauce and cream cheese frosting as well as the cream puffs w/ ube and passionfruit cream, tiramisu verrines, brownie bites and mini fruit tarts. My side of the family prefers lighter, not-so-sweet desserts and my husband's side prefers rich, decadent desserts. Peggy made sure that we had something to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth! On our wedding day, it was no surprise that all our guests LOVED our wedding cake and mini desserts. We had about 75 people and the entire three tier cake was gone by the end of the night! Luckily, my husband and I were able to have a couple of mini desserts to eat after our reception ended. We even had one of our engaged couple friends ask us who made our cake because they loved it so much! Thank you for making our wedding day much sweeter and so special!

Peggy is absolutely amazing. I found her via Instagram and was blown away by her work visually. We met her in person for our consultation/cake tasting...and it was mind blowing. All of her cakes are so incredibly delicious that it made it so hard to choose just one. Not to mention that she is an absolute sweetheart, and she made it her mission to create the perfect cake for our day. I had total trust in her, and let her create pretty much whatever she liked based on our overall vision of the wedding. She did not disappoint! The cake fit so well with our overall vision, it was so gorgeous. The taste was also phenomenal, and we are still getting so many compliments on how delicious it was. She is a true artist and expert in her craft.

All I can say is BOOK PEGGY for all of your dessert needs. Have her do your wedding cake and add on all the other dessert options she has. Not only do they look amazing but they all taste amazing as well. You will not regret booking her. She is extremely detailed and during your design meeting she really tries to get a complete understanding of what your vision is for. For our wedding we had a blueberry and passionfruit vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting. It was so good, our whole family was eating it for days. I loved her mini dessert options as well. We had one of her newer item the ube passion fruit cream puffs, and I'm so sad that during the whole wedding I only had one because all the other guest beat me to them. I can't wait to order more desserts from her in the future.

We found Peggy through Instagram (@peggyliaocake) and instantly fell in love with her work. We knew we wanted sugar flowers and that is the main reason we reached out to her. Our wedding cake was absolutely beautiful! Her eye for design is incredible and she is so good at what she does. We did an initial cake tasting and then spoke over the phone regarding our vision/inspiration. All her cake flavors were delicious and we ended up choosing a citrus olive oil cake with mixed berries. Our guests are still raving about it! You will not regret booking her for your wedding/event. We can't wait to order from her again!

    So gorgeous!

My husband and I adore Peggy, as a person and dessert artist. We were told by our wedding planner that Peggy is the best in the business and that is absolutely right. During our cake tasting, we fell in love with every single cake. It was difficult to choose which cake was going to be served as our wedding cake, because everything was incredible. Peggy has a talent for putting together unique flavors and elevating classics. We gave her quite a unique cake idea and our final cake was better than we imagined. Peggy gave us as many proofs and sketches as we wanted. She created a cake that reflected our love story. She really cares to give every single couple or customer exactly what they ask for. We felt so fortunate to have Peggy make our wedding cake and would recommend her to anyone in need of desserts.

Peggy was so amazing! It was so easy to get a hold of her and schedule a tasting appointment, and we fell in love with her baking at first taste. All her desserts were amazing and not overly sweet, which was a major win in our book. She has a variety of desserts that she bakes, and gave us different options that we can go with depending on the size of your wedding. We ended up going with a three tier cake and ordered additional sheet cakes to accommodate our guest size. I wanted flowers to add on as decor for the cake, which Peggy offered to purchase herself so I would not have to worry about that. Between the time of us booking Peggy and our wedding, she had learned new techniques and asked if we wanted gold accents on our cake. I follow her on Instagram and had seen how beautiful those cakes turned out, so I agreed! She came to the venue to set up all the desserts the day of, and when I walked into our venue to see everything set up, it was better than I could ever imagine! The cake was so beautiful and was everything I could dream of! I would say, the dessert was the highlight of our wedding. All my guests loved the desserts and the cake! It was so moist and they loved the flavor choice (we picked passion fruit). We even were asked by multiple guests after the wedding for her information so they could order cakes for the our friends' next parties, weddings, and events! At the end of the night, Peggy came back to the venue to pick up all the cake and dessert stands that we had borrowed. She was even so kind to take back the two tiers of our cake that we did not cut into and, unfortunately, did not have room to store at the hotel we were staying at. When we went to pick it back up on Monday, Peggy had redecorated each tier of the untouched cake and both the presentations were beautiful! I wish I had photos, but because I had 2 tiers left, there was room to share more slices of cake with my family and friends. Overall, I was very happy with my choice on going with Peggy and would highly recommend her desserts to anyone and everyone.

We found Peggy through our wedding planner's recommended vendor list and we're so happy we did! We didn't know what to expect with the cake selection process, but Peggy was super easy to work with and made us feel really comfortable. After we submitted our initial inquiry, Peggy was prompt in replying and provided us with details about the menu and pricing. Everything was straightforward and there were no surprises. We were able to schedule a time to visit Peggy's home studio for a tasting. She was able to work with our schedule which was helpful since we're from Northern California and only had a few weekends in San Diego before the wedding. During the tasting, we got to try a lot of different flavor and filling combinations. One of the things we liked most was that Peggy had more traditional combinations, as well as some really unique options that we would have never considered (we ended up selecting a white cake with passion fruit and blueberry filling which was amazing). Peggy walked us through each of the beautifully presented options, sharing more details about why certain things were paired with others. It was definitely a hard choice but talking through our options with her made us feel confident in our decision. Peggy also used this time to talk to us about design. She worked with us to understand our style, showed us a couple ideas she had in mind, and after our tasting, followed up with a handful of designs for us to choose from. Being unsure of what we wanted the cake to look like when we started the process, we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It matched the design of the rest of our wedding perfectly! We also got rave reviews from our guests who mentioned how the cake was both stunning and delicious. Peggy even delivered our cake and provided a cake stand and serving utensils - we couldn't have asked for more. If you're considering Peggy for a wedding or upcoming event, we'd highly recommend her. She puts a lot of love into her work and you can definitely tell. Thank you so much, Peggy!

I cannot speak more highly about Peggy! She possesses such a talent and I am so grateful we booked her for our wedding. From our cake tasting to the day of, Peggy wowed me with her flavors and design. Clearly she is passionate about her work and I felt like eating her desserts was like eating a piece of art. She is thoughtful, creative and dedicated to each project and client. I was literally SHOCKED once I saw her dessert spread at our wedding. She took her time getting to know our vision and exceeded our expectations. Her cake is A+ and her mini desserts are to die for. Aside from amazing flavors, she is extremely conscientious of your budget and I was shocked by her pricing. We loved working with her every step of the way. Thank you Peggy!

You know, if you don't want to read my review; at least just let her instagram do the talking: @peggyliaocake https://instagram.com/peggyliaocake She's incredibly talented and an artist. A true artist. The way her cake and desserts were setup at our wedding might as well have been an art piece. The cake exceeded my expectations. It wowed everyone. Everyone had to take pictures of it. Seriously just check out her instagram and be wowed by her creations. Not only do they look phenomenal, they taste AMAZING!! Our guests could not stop talking about the how good it was! Her desserts were sooo good too! I usually don't like bananas in cake, but her infusion into her cake changed my life. Bananas in cakes are in!! Everyone just devoured her desserts. She puts so much care and dedication to her craft, it really shows. I'm so so happy that San Diego has been graced with a person with this next level talent. THANK YOU for making our day so memorable!!! PS: She also has lots of experience with many venues in and around San Diego; so she can recommend color themes too. She's really good at that. The entire process from meeting Peggy for the first time to do taste tests at her beautiful home, to her delivery and setting up the cake was all so so easy, and DELICIOUS!

Cancel your other cake tasting appointments and call Peggy now. Her cakes are so unique, this is not your typical white buttercream and berry wedding cake. She made our 3-tier wedding cake, and it was both delicious and beautiful. It's hard to nail both, but she did it. Our guests loved our cake! The design was this beautiful soft blush watercolor with gold foil. Stunning, elegant and unique. We tasted a few different flavors and chose the vanilla cake with passionfruit curd, blueberry sauce, mascarpone, and cream cheese frosting. A close runner up was the banana cake with banana cream, cream cheese frosting, salted caramel and fresh banana. You may think, ok, wow, but how much is this going to cost me? Trust me, I called all the other top wedding bakeries in San Diego and she charges much less than them for a more superior product. Even her cake tasting is almost half the price of the city's leading wedding bakery. Working with her was super easy - we scheduled a cake tasting (super cute set up, very IG worthy!) and she accepts Venmo. She also rented us a super cute cake platter and delivered on time. Highly, highly recommend Peggy!

    Equal parts beautiful and delicious!

Peggy is an exceptional baker, designer and woman, who is genuinely passionate about her work. I've worked with her on and off over the past two years because our wedding was rescheduled 3x due to COVID, and I am grateful to have had various events over the time period to try out (and indulge in) many of her lovely cakes and single serving desserts. Over that time I also began following her on instagram and learned that she is constantly experimenting with improved design and adding to her creative skill set. Our wedding cake and the accompanying treats on our eventual wedding day were as beautiful as they were delicious and I 100% recommend her. On top of that, she provided some day of wedding decorative and functional pieces to our dessert table that we had overlooked, ultimately allowing us to enjoy our day stress free and perfect. Thank you Peggy!

Had very low expectations for the gelato to begin with seeing as the colors were extremely unnatural and the way it was heaped was a clear indication to me that it is not legitimate gelato and unfortunately, I was proven very right. I got the strawberry so that my toddler could have a few few bites and it was so unnatural and weird tasting that she didn't even want any... And if that doesn't say something! My husband got the coffee flavor and he literally took three bites and threw it away as well. I will say, though, on the food front, the prices are reasonable here all things considered, but maybe stick with pasta... based on everything As a whole though, you can likely get a much more legitimate Italian meal somewhere else in the area, but it will probably cost you more.

They have a great variety to choose from, whether you're into milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or even non dairy options. I also love that they offer chocolate drinks and coffee, so it's easy to turn a quick stop into a little treat moment. I tried the peanut butter dates and they were so good. Smooth, rich, and just the right size when you want something sweet without going overboard. I also had a dark chocolate truffle and that one was just as good. You can really taste the quality. Customer service was a highlight. The guy helping me was super personable, gave great suggestions for drinks, and was genuinely kind, which always makes the experience better. Honestly, I'm just happy I found a chocolate spot within walking distance. Definitely worth stopping by if you're craving something sweet but still want it to feel a little elevated.

I sampled chocolate from Peru, Madagascar, and Kenya, and they all had unique fruity characteristics. Because they're vegan, so they use oat milk for their chocolate instead of dairy. My wife and I also wanted some drinks while we were here. I had a hot chocolate. My wife had hers with espresso shots. Good espresso in pure chocolate will never not be good. They are family owned and they only add chocolate, sugar, and oat milk to make their bars. Overall, this was a fun place to check out at Little Italy, and they also had a stall at the Farmer's Market.

There was hardly anyone in line when we walked in, but by the time we got our gelato and turned around, the line was out the door! I travel to Italy regularly for work, so I've had my fair share of authentic gelato. I have to say, the quality and flavors here were outstanding. Rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. What made the experience even better was the staff. One of the employees was incredibly friendly, energetic, and genuinely passionate about the gelato. He encouraged us to sample flavors, asked what kinds of flavors we enjoyed, and made thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. It felt like talking with a wine sommelier--someone who truly understood flavor and wanted us to find the perfect match. You could tell he genuinely loved his job, and that enthusiasm made the whole experience even more memorable. We took our gelato outside, sat at one of the sidewalk tables, and spent the evening people-watching. It was the perfect way to end a beautiful San Diego night. The shop itself is casual, with just a few seats inside and several tables outside. It's a great stop whether you're on a date, out with friends, or enjoying a family night in Little Italy. Definitely a five-star experience. I'll be back the next time I'm in San Diego.

I sampled Rose Almond (Lebanese Rose Water with Organic Almond Butter), Pure Watermelon and Stracciatella. The Rose Almond was fragrant, Pure Watermelon refreshing and Stracciatella was a classic. I chose Rose Almond and Stracciatella in a Piccolo cup which was perfect for me. The gelato was dense and delicious - I really enjoyed every bite of it. It was nice to be able to sit near the windows and people watch.
