Small mom and pop style donut shop with all the classic offerings. Service was quick and the prices were reasonable. While they may not look special, Sesame Donuts does classic donuts extremely well. The donuts were soft and fluffy. And the icing amount and flavor were both perfect. Nothing was dry or overly soggy. Definitely come check them out if you're looking for a good old classic donut!

Mixed box o donuts here during my visit. My favorite was the maple crueller - the glaze was delicious, though it could have been a bit airier in texture for my preference. The sesame donut was denser and a bit oilier than I prefer. The red velvet donut was not memorable unfortunately, as it tasted bland.

This is a childhood favorite of mine, and I'm so glad I stopped by again. The service was quick, and employees were so kind! My favorites are the apple fritter and bavarian cream - their raised dough is soft and pillowy, and the apple fritter always has that perfect crunch. The sweetest way to start my day!

Good donuts overall, but not quite my favorite. I love a really good old fashioned glazed donut, and this one just didn't quite hit the mark for me. Still worth trying if you're in the area, but I've definitely had better.

The fact that this small mom-and-pop shop stays in business despite being situated in the same plaza as a mega donut chain speaks volumes about its quality and price point. We dropped in after a late-ish dinner, and were impressed that 1) it was still open, and 2) there was still plenty of selection available. Service was fast, as one would expect.

I came in here after a work dinner and drinks at the pub next door. I was wanting some dessert. I ended getting 12 little chocolate glazed donut holes. Let me tell you when I devoured half of the bag on the drive to my hotel and the other half laying in bed I was in heaven. They reminded me of TimBits from Tim Hortons in Canada. They were so yummy and the service was great. I loved that they were open late and actually had variety to choose from.

So fluffy! My favorite is the sugar one because of the fluffiness. The seasonal pumpkin one is a delicious cake donut that is still pretty fluffy and enjoyable. Fast and friendly service, reasonable prices, convenient hours. An easy pass-by before work. Coworkers happy :)

Came here because I saw all the high scores here in Yelp for this donut shop. When I arrived, I was happy that they had a lot of selection even in the afternoon. I decided to order two donuts to try. I got a maple bar which was average and I got a sesame, glazed doughnut , which I could not finish. The glazed donut had heavy glaze on it and wasn't cooked very well as it had oil seeping into the interior part of the donut and then the donut crumb was very dry. I doubt this was a fresh donut. I took a picture of the donut after I had a few bites. I decided to throw away over half of this donut. Cost in cash was $3.78. I paid in cash - ten dollar bill and the exact amount of change was listed on the screen: $6.22 cents. The lady handed me 6 dollars and some change. As I left the store, I looked in my hand and found she inexplicably gave me four pennies and a nickel for change which is 9 cents resulting in a 13 cents overcharge. How strange. If you come here and pay cash make sure you get the correct change.

The original Carmel mountain ranch doughnut spot. Great doughnuts, great service and always a clean place

This is a throwback little donut shop, the interior looks like it's from 50 years ago. There's even a fairly large counter inside to dine in. The donuts are old-fashioned high-quality. I have only gotten apple fritters here and they are really good, nice and crisp outside with lots of juicy apple bits inside. But all the donuts look good and I look forward to trying more of them.

The donut shop surviving being right next to a mega chain donut shop. Any OG resident living in the area would point you to this place if you are looking for some donuts. We picked and chose from their wide variety of donuts and they did not disappoint. We went around 10am on a Saturday and the donuts were still soft and sweet, not dry or oily. They have a wide variety to choose from so there will be something to satisfy you. The staff were friendly and the two worked fast. It is a small shop but big enough for a quick pickup and go.

"Sesame Donut is hands down one of the best donut spots around. The donuts are always fresh, soft, and full of flavor, and the selection is great no matter what time you stop by. The glazed donuts are perfectly light and fluffy, and the specialty donuts are just as good without being overly sweet.

Delicious glazed donut. Quick service. Cozy atmosphere and overall warm energy. AC just cool enough.

I was also debating the size of chocolate milk for my kid and ordered small and got confirmation from Aadan that small would be the ideal choice for kids. Excellent iced Banana Bread Latte. Couldn't detect any banana bread flavor to it but as someone who does not like standard "plain" lattes, it was good coffee! Kid inhaled a Vanilla Bean Glazed and I had the Blueberry Cheesecake doughnut (both yeast doughnuts) for lunch (yes for lunch!) and I usually do not like eating more than a quarter of a doughnut even as dessert. I was hesitant to get the Blueberry Cheesecake because I saw the giant blob of cream on top but it was more like whip cream than actual cheesecake and sweet enough to compliment a doughnut without being heavy and overly sweet like actual cheesecake. I also like the dollop of blueberry preserves on top. The yeast doughnut was plump airy goodness. We didn't need it, but I appreciate that this shop always has free cold water available for guests. This is one of my few Treat Yourself places.

The shop is always spotless, the atmosphere is fun and energetic, and the staff is consistently warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable about their menu. What really sets Sidecar apart is the quality. You can tell they use top-tier ingredients, and every donut tastes fresh, handcrafted, and made with attention to detail. I've tried everything from their classic glazed donuts to their rotating seasonal specialties, and I honestly haven't had a bad one yet. Even the simpler menu items stand out because they're executed so well. Their creative flavors keep things interesting, while favorites like the Butter & Salt and Huckleberry showcase how good a donut can be when quality comes first. That said, my hands-down favorite is the Apple Fritter. It's crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, packed with real apple flavor, and finished with just the right amount of sweetness. Every time I visit, I tell myself I'm going to try something new, and somehow I end up ordering the fritter again. If you're in Del Mar and have even a slight sweet tooth, Sidecar is absolutely worth the stop. Great ingredients, incredible donuts, friendly staff, and a fun atmosphere make this one of those places you'll find yourself coming back to again and again.

This location is inside Bober Tea and Coffee. There is a glass casing with several flavors to choose from and they sell at $3 a piece. The one that stood out to me was the chocolate with sprinkles. Upon receiving it in a paper pocket bag, the icing was rubbing off on the bag. That immediately told me this is super fresh! I could already feel the softness of the donut. The little sectioned off ball looking segments of the donut are also a game changer when it comes to eating - easier to eat without making a mess! The texture was bouncy, soft, lightly chewy and a little stretchy... the texture was fun and I found myself wanting another afterwards. Service was very transactional, so there was nothing standout but also nothing bad to say. The store is in North park, so naturally parking is a nightmare, but since I ordered ahead, I just used one of the 15 min parking spots out front. I was in and out so I didn't stop to really check out the shops decor either. The good: the breakfast sandwich was phenomenal, the crusted spam and garlic chili sauce paired so well with the rest of the flavors. The strawberry shortcake donut, which was filled with a strawberry "cheesecake" filling was very good as well. The donut dough was light and airy, and there was a generous amount of filling. The ehh: I wasn't super impressed with the maple donut, it may just be because most of their classic donuts are vegan, but the texture was strangely chewy to me, and the maple glaze just didn't hit. The donut holes just tasted like sugar coated donuts, I didn't taste any hint of ube/taro, not to mention they are way smaller than the average donut holes (4 for $1).
