I randomly walked in here one day while waiting for my food next door.. I remember sitting through a sales presentation and winning a tour for the family.  The Road to Hana tour took us on a trip to see Hana along the back side of Maui.  It was awesome seeing the secluded parts of the island and we stopped at Aunty Sandy's banana bread.  It was the best banana bread I have ever had.  Moist.  Banana aroma filled the air around it.  Fluffy.  Bursting with sweet banana flavor.  Ever since then I have been looking for a place with banana bread as good. I stopped by Jessie's Bake Shop and noticed she had walnut banana bread.  I didn't detect any fresh baked smell you get from the best bakeries.  End piece was dry and the edge was hard.  I was hoping to be awash in banana flavor but mostly it was walnuts.  I couldn't eat more than the once piece and gave the rest away. Staff was nice.  Jessie should setup a day old area.  Selling day old bread at full price is not gonna bring me back here. read more

Love their desserts! I've always gotten delicious cakes, cookies, eclairs, and more! They're my first choice!

I was looking for cupcakes in the area, and this place sounded promising because the cupcakes are special order only, so I assumed they would be fresh. I had the choice between chocolate and vanilla cupcake and either of those flavors in buttercream for the top. The minimum amount was a dozen and all had to be the same flavor, but rainbow sprinkles could be added to just a subset. When I picked them up, they said I could keep them at room temperature for a few hours but refrigeration was preferred due to the buttercream. When I tried one later that night, I found the cupcake a bit dry and the frosting tasted overly sweet. I would not have known it was buttercream if I hadn't been told They tasted similar to a chain supermarket cupcake, which I'm sure is satisfactory for many people. The price point was good at $3 each, though. I would consider trying other baked goods there, as they have a large selection. But, the cupcake are not my style. read more

I will preface; I am a home baker. The treats from Jessie's Bake Shop look so yummy and appetizing! Especially because they are small (I much prefer small desserts). Given their small size, I was so surprised to see them for around $1.00 each! Small desserts are a pain to make and usually carry a higher price than $1! I bought 2 cherry tarts, 1 lemon bar , blueberry tart, pecan tart and tiny eclairs. The lemon bar: I love lemon desserts and I put so much love in my lemon bars because I love the tang! I'm used to being disappointed by store bought lemon bars because they mute the tang of the lemon... this lemon bar was basically a crumb bottom with lemon crème/ pie filling on top. The lemon crème was gelatinous, artificial and low maintenance. I swear that lemon crème came straight from a can! The mini eclair: I didn't eat the eclair, but it's filled with whipped cream and the kids liked it! Cherry tarts: same deal; filled with cherry filling from a can Pecan: I didn't eat that one and didn't hear the verdict After having tried it, I can conclude, this place isn't shooting for the stars, probably not even trying to impress; but if you need to fill a table with pretty snacks and your budget can't afford grocery store prices, then THIS is the place! read more

Extremely rude folks. I called in to order a birthday cake for 1 week later and the guy on the phone said that I could do it as long as you don't ask for "crazy stupid decorations". He mentioned that he could write "Happy Birthday" and put flowers. I said I don't want flowers but can we discuss some simple decorations(I just wanted to add chocolate-covered strawberries which I see they do make). And he says "See that's what I am talking about, If you want decorations you order them on Amazon and I'll put it but it's hard to discuss decorations on the phone". I honestly didn't want any "crazy stupid decorations", I was being super polite and accommodating with him. I feel they were not in the mood to even listen. My curiosity was piqued after I walked by this bakery a few times without going in. After checking out the reviews online, I decided to pick up a birthday cake this weekend. The interior of the bakery is small and clean, but dimly lit. I felt like it needed better lighting or some sort of change to make it feel a bit more welcoming. The staff that assisted me was polite and reserved, nonchalant even. I ordered a fruit basket cake since I had read so many good reviews about it, and asked if they could custom-write a message on it. The writing came out beautifully, and while the cake looked simple, it brought back nostalgia from my childhood. I also picked up a few mini-eclairs as a small treat, and these were disappointing; they were dry and stale, filled with whipped cream. I know whipped cream can be a filling for eclairs, but I think creme patisserie would have been a good alternative since the pastry itself was dry. The mini-eclairs was essentially foreshadowed how the cake would be. The sweetness was just right and the fruit was fresh, but the cake itself was dry. I was disappointed with the texture - even though the cake was light in a way, it felt as though it could have been overbaked or a sugar substitute was used. I wouldn't recommend this bakery based on this experience, especially since there are other bakeries that offer the same sort of treats around the same price point. 9/2/2025: Dropping two stars from my previous rating. After 2 days, we found some fruit inside of the cake was rotting. I thought the fruit was fresh the day-of, but the strawberries definitely started to go bad so quickly. read more

I have had "our" bakery for years, but I was trying out a few others because I was planning a wedding and had a different set of criteria. I tried Jessie's and to my astonishment, their white cake was just as light (probably 50% air) as our usual bakery. Their menu was just about identical to what we were used to, and their turnaround time and pricing were all competitive if not slightly less. In the end we ended up going with a different bakery for the wedding, but we have been treating ourselves to Jessie's to a cake for the family to share almost once a week, and it barely lasts a week. As far as I know Jessie's Bake shop remains a family owned and operated business located in a heavily trafficked shopping plaza in Carmel Mountain anchored by a Home Depot and surrounded by several restaurants. They essentially focus on French-styled pastries and cakes here. There are always a few cakes ready to go along with a wide selection of small pastries displayed inside. I recommend coming in early to pick up the freshest items or placing an order ahead of your visit to ensure you get exactly what you want and have the best experience. I have spoken to the owner on several occasions over the years when ordering custom-made cakes for various family occasions. My family's favorite cake from this shop is a fruit filled 2-layer cake that I usually pair with their spongy vanilla or chocolate cake between what I recall is Bavarian cream and usually topped with cute chocolate embellishments. The cakes I have picked up are always moist and the frosting is subtle, not the crazy sweet flavors you'll find is most chains or grocery store bakeries. the lack of overpowering sugariness may be an issue for some, but I personally appreciate this style. I'm a fan of the cute tarts and other small confections offered here as well. My personal favorites are the fruit tarts and mini pecans pies. Again, come in earlier in the day for the best experience, based on my not-so-great late afternoon visits. Remember this is a small business. read more

My favorite local bakery around. Such great deals, love everything they have and the prices are the cheapest in the area. Every time I go I buy the napoleons and eclairs and the giant choco croissant and some other goodies and the total is always around $20 and I get to satisfy my sweet tooth for some days. Looking for a sweet treat so stopped by for the first time. Nice variety of options and because it was our first time here we tried a few different items. Had quite a few different shortbread cookie options, including a lemon shortbread. We found them all to be very good and would get them again. There was another cookie, I think it was called a finger cookie, I know the word finger was in it, that my daughter said was really, really good. Next was the brownie. It was more of a fudgy type of brownie. It was also pretty good and might get it again. Now to the two big fails. The cream puffs were horrible. The pastry was very dried out and bland. The cream filling had a strange sour/tart taste to it. We both had taken a bite of two separate puffs and disliked them immediately. Wrapped them all up (there were 6) and threw them in the trash can before we even left our parking space. The next item that was very disappointing was the lemon bar. It looked so good but the lemon flavor was off and the bottom crust was bland and very tough to cut through. Would not get either again. We'll definitely go back for the shortbread and finger cookies. We'll most likely give some other items a try too. read more

Almost none of the items are over $3.00 which makes things seem like a great deal before you taste them... I am not quite sure how they are still open, but I would definitely avoid if possible. Cannoli: 0/5 This tasted rancid. The nuts inside had that very old flavor of expired nuts and the filling was literally curdled. The shell was very oily in taste and was not crunchy. I have no words. Inedible. Chocolate Chip Shortbread: 0.5/5 There was no crisp in this cookie and it tasted like its been sitting in the refrigerator for too long. Macadamia Nut Tart: 3/5 This one was okay. The base was crunchy and the macadamia nuts were fresh. The cream had flavor and was not too light or too dense. Napoleon: 2.5/5 The napoleon was okay too. The layers were not overly soggy and had a strong vanilla flavor. The topping is literally like toaster strudel icing. Anytime we have had a special event, we have stopped at Jessie's for their mini bites of bakery deliciousness. Jessie's was a part of my parents 50th Anniversary, my Mom's funeral, my aunt's 80th, 85th, and 90th birthdays, my niece's 16th and 21st birthday as well as her college graduation, and my retirement celebration. Of course, I have stopped by for quite a few extra treats along the way. I love that they have a huge variety of choices and all are absolutely awesome! Tried this bakery for the first time yesterday even though I drove by several times over the years when shopping at Home Depot. I asked if everything was baked that morning, since I did not smell any fresh baked smells that you usually encounter in a bakery. The lady was very honest and told me that the cookies are pre-made and the other items in the left refrigerated case (i.e., tarts, eclairs, cheesecakes, etc.) were made yesterday or the day prior to that. So, with that great info out there in the ether, I decided to just order four items to give it a try. I got an apple strudel, blueberry tart, napoleon and a macadamia nut tart. The price was great, only about $10.50 for four items in a nice box, though they are on the small side. The apple strudel was awesome, really yummy with lots of fresh apples and raisins inside. Love the thick sugar frosting on top. The macadamia nut tart was also amazing with lots of chocolate on top and great eclair like cream inside, as well as some nuts in there, too. Both these items are great! The blueberry tart tasted quite fresh but lacked enough sweetness for me. The crust was also a bit hard and "pre-made" tasting to me, like it was bought in bulk from an outside supplier. Might be great for more "Asian" taste buds that don't like things too sweet. The napoleon was a bit disappointing as the cream was more like cheap frosting instead of a rich vanilla custard like it should be. Everything tasted fairly fresh even though not made that morning. I think this place is great if you are on a budget and just want some good small pastries/tarts or if you need lots of small desserts for an event like a party. read more

This is a small storefront with a huge selection of delicious goods. The owner is amazing! Trained in Switzerland, then to Hawaii at the top hotels! Perfection and a passion for offering the best to his customers. Cream brûlée puffs are great. Tuxedo strawberries are so beautiful! You can order cakes here as well. Prices were a little high for a whole cake but what isn't expensive in Southern California? Some bistro tables and umbrellas out front if you would like to stay a while. I've always wanted to love this little mom and pop cookie shop, but I am not having the same 5 star experience as everyone else. I think it might be a mater of taste buds and preferences. I usually stop by here when i'm getting a burrito next door. The staff is nice and the bakery looks like it's been the same since 1995. They don't take credit cards. The cookies -- if you like places like CRUMBL, Diddy Reese or Levain, this is not going to be your place. They sell varieties of small cookies and some larger sugar cookies or chocolate chip cookies. These cookies taste like those dutch cookies in the tin can that everyone ends up saving. It's a lighter cookie, less butter, more brittle, not as soft and chewy. read more

I have been wanting to try this bakery for a few weeks now. I went on a Saturday evening and had to wait a little while for someone to come out and help me. He didn't seem very happy to have to come to the front which felt a little uncomfortable for a second, I just tried to smile and stay excited to try things. It was well before they closed so I am not sure why it would be annoying to have customers walk in. I ordered several things... the Fruit Tart, Napoleon, Brownie, and Heart Cookie dipped in chocolate. The prices were very reasonable. I enjoyed every single thing!! The Napoleon was not as crispy as I would have liked and am used to, but it was still delicious. Their cream is fantastic and there was plenty in both the Napoleon and the Fruit Tart. The Brownie was very moist and rich, and tasted more like fudge. The cookie was very fresh but had that dry texture...so I would recommend having a drink nearby lol. I ate every last bite of all of these in one sitting and really enjoyed them. The cost was under $9 for everything too. I was really hoping to get a cupcake when I walked in, but they only had full cakes which I hope to try sometime! They are located in a large shopping center that has plenty of parking. I don't recall seeing any seating or a restroom in case that is something that would be important to you. I would love to come back to try some of the other options in the near future for sure. The desserts won't blow your mind, but considering the quality/freshness and how inexpensive everything was, I was very pleased. With the exception of the poor greeting/attitude/service - everything else was great so I don't want to knock a star off the review for someone that may have just been having a bad day so I am giving 5 stars.
