    Walnut banana bread
    Soo H.

I remember sitting through a sales presentation and winning a tour for the family.  The Road to Hana tour took us on a trip to see Hana along the back side of Maui.  It was awesome seeing the secluded parts of the island and we stopped at Aunty Sandy's banana bread.  It was the best banana bread I have ever had.  Moist.  Banana aroma filled the air around it.  Fluffy.  Bursting with sweet banana flavor.  Ever since then I have been looking for a place with banana bread as good. I stopped by Jessie's Bake Shop and noticed she had walnut banana bread.  I didn't detect any fresh baked smell you get from the best bakeries.  End piece was dry and the edge was hard.  I was hoping to be awash in banana flavor but mostly it was walnuts.  I couldn't eat more than the once piece and gave the rest away. Staff was nice.  Jessie should setup a day old area.  Selling day old bread at full price is not gonna bring me back here.

Our 1 year wedding anniversary cake since we couldn't save the topper from our wedding cake. We love the cake Kuya Jessie makes!

Love this place! Everything tastes amazing, not too sweet for my taste buds. Their fruit basket cake is our fave and fresh baked banana bread.

A small bake shop in Carmel Mountain area. I grabbed a few pastries from Jessie's to take to a friend's gathering. The pastries were tasty and flavorful. Not dry or hard to chew.

Located in Carmel mountain, next to Yesenia's, across from Mostra coffee. They are open on Monday when many bakeries were not. I bought a bunch of assorted pastries for clients and they thought it was very good. I actually drove to 2 bakeries that were in people's homes and had inconsistent hours before coming to Jessie's. Very reliable and fresh. Price is a good value. Will come again. Serving poway, Rancho Bernardo, Carmel valley, scripps and nearby areas.

I was looking for cupcakes in the area, and this place sounded promising because the cupcakes are special order only, so I assumed they would be fresh. I had the choice between chocolate and vanilla cupcake and either of those flavors in buttercream for the top. The minimum amount was a dozen and all had to be the same flavor, but rainbow sprinkles could be added to just a subset. When I picked them up, they said I could keep them at room temperature for a few hours but refrigeration was preferred due to the buttercream. When I tried one later that night, I found the cupcake a bit dry and the frosting tasted overly sweet. I would not have known it was buttercream if I hadn't been told They tasted similar to a chain supermarket cupcake, which I'm sure is satisfactory for many people. The price point was good at $3 each, though. I would consider trying other baked goods there, as they have a large selection. But, the cupcake are not my style.

Mini eclairs, cherry tart, blueberry tart, pecan tart, lemon bar, cheesecake

I will preface; I am a home baker. The treats from Jessie's Bake Shop look so yummy and appetizing! Especially because they are small (I much prefer small desserts). Given their small size, I was so surprised to see them for around $1.00 each! Small desserts are a pain to make and usually carry a higher price than $1! I bought 2 cherry tarts, 1 lemon bar , blueberry tart, pecan tart and tiny eclairs. The lemon bar: I love lemon desserts and I put so much love in my lemon bars because I love the tang! I'm used to being disappointed by store bought lemon bars because they mute the tang of the lemon... this lemon bar was basically a crumb bottom with lemon crème/ pie filling on top. The lemon crème was gelatinous, artificial and low maintenance. I swear that lemon crème came straight from a can! The mini eclair: I didn't eat the eclair, but it's filled with whipped cream and the kids liked it! Cherry tarts: same deal; filled with cherry filling from a can Pecan: I didn't eat that one and didn't hear the verdict After having tried it, I can conclude, this place isn't shooting for the stars, probably not even trying to impress; but if you need to fill a table with pretty snacks and your budget can't afford grocery store prices, then THIS is the place!

This tiny bake shop is wonderful! Located in a shopping center, there's plenty of parking. The baked goods are reasonably priced and delicious. The lemon shortbread was my favorite. Service was friendly and fast.

Excellent assortment, fair prices, fresh desserts, and one of the best chocolate cookies we have ever had.

Lemon, shortbread, raspberry, scone, blueberry shortbread!

Lots of chocolate and I think they added toffee in it too. The middle section had pistachio frangipane (or it looked like it) with coarsely chopped pistachios that brought another layer of crunch! Then to top it all off, it had pistachio cream on top of the cookie! I only wish I got another one. CAPPUCCINO It was okay. But love the foam! It was frothy and foamy! PAVLOVA The meringue was a bit too hard and too sweet and the pastry cream was overwhipped. Loved the fresh fig and blueberries though. I was looking forward to eating pavlova and this was very disappointing! KOUIGN AMANN Very buttery and sticky! Crispy on the outside. Every bite was not dry, but chewy. There was this sticky and chewy texture that wasn't unpleasant, yet it wasn't fully flaky like a croissant. But glad it was not dry! The kouign amann was not as tall like others I've tried, but I preferred it this way because it was not dry. The last kouign amann I had from Bread Lounge was dryyyy. But bought mine at a coffee shop too. PAIN AU CHOCOLAT Crispy on the outside, but I must have toasted a bit more, so the outside was a bit more toasted than desired. Inside was good. Good dark chocolate. BUTTER CROISSANT Really buttery, flaky, crispy! Ate it next day, so reheated it in the toaster oven to bring a more crispness all around. Really enjoyed this! Adding butter and jam is so good! LEMON MERINGUE Meringue had a strong eggy smell and flavor, the lemon was tangy, but not enough to rid of the eggy smell and flavor. The tart was hard and almost stale. I took a few bites and threw the rest out. PAIN SUISSE Chocolate flavor. Crispy on the outside, fluffy like a light spongy cake inside. Enjoyed this! CUSTOMER SERVICE Got there early afternoon. There was only one person in front of me. Good service overall. Quick service. Hits and misses of the various pastries I've tried. It will not deter me from trying their pastries though, as the really good ones were really good! Would love to return! Especially for that Choco Chip Pistachio Cookie! This is such a cute shop with inside and outside seating. There is a small amount of seating near the windows but more outside around the back. The orange blossom latte is good but very sweet. Their drinks run on the sweet side. Be sure to ask for half sweet if needed. I saw so many people ask for their drinks to be remade because it was too sweet and it really impacted the workers. I have tried some other desserts but just wasn't a fan. Before driving over, I even called the store to make sure they had it. To my surprise, someone actually answered, confirmed they had one slice left, and even offered to hold it for me. My mood instantly changed. After the day I'd had, I was genuinely excited and headed there immediately. I arrived less than 10 minutes later, only to be told they didn't have it after all. To make matters worse, they claimed they don't even hold desserts for customers. It wasn't just disappointing--it was incredibly frustrating. If they couldn't hold it, I would have understood. But giving me false hope and having me rush over for nothing completely ruined the experience. What was supposed to be a small bright spot in my day turned into an even bigger disappointment.
