I've eaten here twice now, and both times were pretty good. This place is located a little off the beaten path in a shopping area of a mostly residential area. We opted to sit in the outside patio area. They have a few tables inside, but if you have a larger party, you'll probably need to go outside. The patio is covered and has a few big fans overhead. They did some renovation over this past winter; I know bc I tried stopping by and they were closed due to it. When I went this past time, the inside looked pretty much the same ( based on my bad/faulty memory). The patio was different bc one side is completely covered, and I noticed a pulldown screen and projector overhead. The menu seemed a bit different this time. No more meatball appetizer unfortunately. Our server was nice and attentive (this time and last). The food: - Spicy Caesar (Romaine, home-made spicy Caesar dressing, home-made croutons, parmesan shavings, cracked black pepper and salami crisps): good stuff. Not really a healthy salad but a tasty one. The croutons are nice and light (not unpleasantly crunchy). The dressing has a nice little kick to it. I'd recommend. - Helena pizza (House-made Italian sausage, salami, pepperoni, San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, pepperoncini, and Parmesan): the pizza crust here is the best in the greater Sacramento area. Hands down. It's so wonderfully light and chewy. I wish they'd use a bit more sauce on their pizzas as they eat a bit dry. And, I think some extra sauce would balance the saltiness of the toppings as well (and, the pizza does eat a bit too salty for my tastes). - Classic Pepperoni pizza (Pepperoni, San Marzano tomato sauce, shredded mozzarella, parmesan cheese): similar experience as the Helena: stellar crust, not enough sauce, and a bit too salty. - Beer: they have a half dozen or so local brews on tap as well as a larger selection of cans/bottles, which include both local and macro brews. I was happy to find a quality pizzeria while visiting Roseville. I'm pretty picky when it comes to pizza and it's even harder with a gluten intolerance but they do a great job! I'm no expert, but I think I can say this is the best Neapolitan pizza in the area. It's up there with my favorite Fuoco in Fullerton, but I think the toppings are better here! They're doing a great job. Service was really friendly. Carrot hummus was unique and really good, especially with the fried dough balls to dip in it. My wife enjoyed the seasonal veggies and the dip in comes with. Pizza was incredible! The toppings on the Ali special work so well. It's salty, sweet, and just super good. I added prosciutto which was a good move. My wife was able to customize a pizza to make it vegan, and they had vegan cheese for her. They were very, very accommodating. Heard many great things about this place and decided to try it on a Friday night. Walked into a packed house and was seated almost instantaneously. There's always bar seating too if you're into that. We ordered the Ali's special which consisted of ricotta, goat cheese, mozzarella, pistachios, red onions, spicy honey, and Parmesan. If you aren't interested in a typical red sauce slice, this is definitely the way to go. The server recommended adding prosciutto and having it cooked along with the pizza. The result was spectacular. The ricotta and goat cheese paired so well with each other, and the prosciutto became crispy just like bacon. The only thing I could say is that the pistachio flavor was quite muted, but it was by far one of my favorite pizzas in a while. We also tried the Chicken Milanese Sandwich which the server recommended since it would be leaving the menu soon. It was delicious, but may have had too many Calabrian chilis in it. But man oh man, the sandwich came with a side of these crispy smashed potatoes, and I have to say these were the star of the show. They were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside that we asked the server for a side of potatoes to take home. If you do decide to come, the smashed potatoes are a must have. My two favorite items which will have me coming back for a second visit are the Arancini's. This appetizer is a fried Italian ball stuffed with mozzarella and topped with pecorino cheese. The textures and flavors from each bite were explosively delicious. My favorite pizza flavor was the Truffling Around which consists of mushroom pepper jack cheese, spicy feta sauce, and black truffle sauce. Service was friendly but a bit slow and inconsistent. There were several different servers helping us throughout the night, and nothing was set on the table when we arrived, so we had to ask multiple times for straws, napkins, and silverware. Two of our friends arrived about 30 minutes late, so we were placing orders in stages, which they handled decently. I appreciated the gluten-free options and started with the olive ricotta dip, which was delicious! The ricotta was creamy and mild, and the olives were briny and flavorful. The gluten-free bread was very crunchy--so good. For dinner, I ordered the Ortiz pizza and added Italian sausage. The pizza was tasty, but the sausage was minimal--more like scattered crumbles than a full topping. I also ordered an iced tea, but it didn't taste fresh at all, so I barely drank it. One friend had the rigatoni and said it was flavorful. For dessert, two friends ordered the rhubarb crème brûlée--one didn't care for the rhubarb, said it was too bitter. Two others shared the s'mores calzone, which was massive. Definitely a dessert meant for 2-3 people to share--might be helpful if the menu noted that! Overall, it was an okay experience. I've been dying to try this place and their gluten free pizza. I shouldn't have come....because now I'm addicted. Easily the best G F pizza I have ever had, ever. No one would know it is gluten free. Not only that but their pizzas are seriously gourmet. We got four different ones and they were all beautiful and delicious.
