We were instantly welcomed and seated in the most lovely dining area appointed with mood lighting and comfortable seating. The attention to detail shines here. Tables adorned with a cute little ceramic sugar dish, lovely tableware and fresh flowers. This place was designed with love and intention and it shows. From the lighting fixtures to the decor Flourish is both stylish and comfortable. The food is just as well thought out. Inspired by Eastern European flavors Flourish takes basic breakfast to an elevated experience. A bit pricy for daily breakfast but the flavors were a treat to experience. No pork products but the turkey sausage was just as satisfying and 4 long links in a side serving. I chose the garden skillet and swapped the over easy eggs for scrambled. He went for the Shakshuka. Both were not just served but presented beautifully on wooden boards. We had to try the Syrniki and were delighted. You aren't going to find over the top portions here, but the meals are satisfying and prepared with fresh quality ingredients. The berries on the Syrniki were huge, juicy and tasty. Flourish is not your daily breakfast spot but definitely one we recommend and will revisit on occasion. read more

I waited a bit before compiling this review as my experience was so very different from others posted. A three star review is just ok and I might return, but honestly I would not come back here for many reasons so here is my two star review. If one was to come back, it would be for the syrniki. These were wonderfully crisp with a farmer's cheese filling served with a little fruit (several berries) a fruit sauce and a tart cream. There were three small ones, not enough for a hungry adult but nice quality if you are having a yen for this Eastern European treat. Why not come back then? I was impressed with the pictures of the dining area photos posted by the owner. I brought an upscale change of clothes in the car as I was coming from a more casual event. But after watching people leave, it was evident I was not overdressed. The chairs are plastic and not the fabric, plush ones the photograph. Natural flowers adore the space and these were well kept. Ambiance is fine, just not what was projected. We ordered two of the coffees - a mocha and the Dubai chocolate. After placing our orders, the waitress returned sometime later and said they did not have the ingredients for the Dubai coffee but could make something similar. Ok. The coffees came, very large and generous, probably 16 oz, but were cold, barely above room temperature. They came a good ten minutes before a meal showed at the table Next arrival was an eggs Benedict from my dining partner made with spinach and beef bacon, two eggs and very little hollandaise on a "brioche bun." The bun was a hamburger roll. The eggs were way overdone as cutting through them produced no runny yolk. The hollandaise was barely there. This dish was a complete fail. My syrniki came 5 minutes after the eggs Benedict. The waitress never checked on us The bill came. 4% charge for using a credit card. Did not see that posted anywhere except with the bill The restroom is a single stall and is supposed to be ADA compliant. There is so much stuff in there a wheelchair would not be to negotiate the bathroom. The door was racked and would not close and had to be "shouldered" to close. All in all, it was not a good visit. read more

Nice little cafe spot and it was our first time here that was recommended from a friend that we work with. Cafe is nice and clean decorated with nice decors giving it that nice cozy feeling. Ordered a cappuccino to start off with and then with food ordered the breakfast croissant, strawberry banana pancakes and the almond syrn and they were all so delicious. I absolutely loved the dishes that we ordered. Service - we were self seated, I think they were short on people but that was okay, no problem. Server came over with menus and we ordered when we were ready and everything came out fairly quick. Server was really nice and helped us with the menu options. Second time here and it really has great food but service and the plate situation is very odd. Crepes, and breakfast are filling and tasty. If you order the burger, it comes with gloves! Brunch was a disaster. No one's meal came out at the same time, some from our group had finished their meals before even everyone was served. While a few people were satisfied with their meal, most were not. I ordered the lentil soup which was more skin to pureed pea soup and was incredible. Had an amazing experience, went there for a brunch. The decor is very nice. The menu had many appealing choices, was hard to pick something. We ordered potato waffle with salmon and poached eggs, which was a unique variation of this dish, a pumpkin soup, and sirniki. Everything was delicious, and the presentation is very unique. The service is outstanding, the girls working there are very pleasant and I was surprised how efficiently the 2 of them managed the service for the entire place. This place well exceeded my expectations! In terms of aesthetic the restaurant is very nicely decorated, and the food is plated nicely. Instagram worthy :) The service is great, also the staff is very accommodating and patient. They have more than just coffee and pastries. There is proper breakfast item like eggs, waffles, and Shakshuka. And some lunch items like burgers. Everything is excellent quality, and it's even great place to sit down and do work. I ordered a Turkish coffee and to my surprise it came with a cookies and cream macaroon. We also tried the Shakshuka, and the blueberry cheese delight. If you're looking for a new hole in the wall kind of spot then definitely give Flourish a shot :) read more

This place has a really cute decor, and the service was excellent! They offer a wide variety of food options. I played it safe and ordered the chicken sandwich with fries, which was solid. They do have a $10 minimum for card use, so keep that in mind. There's plenty of parking available, and they also have Wi-Fi, which is a nice bonus. They have so many beautiful details - plants on the walls, comfortable seats, a gorgeous teapot when serving tea, a free macaron with coffee, bread with the sunnyside egg ups... it's so intentional in here and feels so nice. The people running it are very nice, wifi is speedy, and I love that they have high protein options available for purchase. Other cafes have just all carb options which doesn't work for me. And as I was writing this I asked for my check and see that it's $5 for a latte with macaron, that's a great deal! My total bill for a high quality latte w almond milk, sunny side egg up eggs, and salmon (along with the bread and macaron) was $17.12. The passage of time since my last visit to this small commercial zone has been kind to the businesses here. Obviously, attention has been paid to detail and it seems everything has been upgraded significantly. Not the least of which is the FLOURish Cafe located behind El Barrio Mexican Restaurant. I was just there for breakfast this day, and it felt like I was entering a classy coffee house/bakery somewhere in Central Europe (Ukraine by the language and accents). The room was well appointed with furniture and attractive accents, with pretty artificial plants on the walls and hanging from the ceiling. I approached the cashier in the rear next to a large glass display of colorful tempting pastries and cakes, was handed the menu and directed to the breakfast selections. All were culturally appropriate, and reminded of my grandparents who came from Ukraine and Poland and were skilled cooks and bakers in their own rights. I decided on their breakfast crepes (3), which were filled with mildly sweet cream cheese and drizzled with caramel. A handful of red raspberries, blueberries, and mint leaves were arranged on the plate before being finished off with a dusting of powdered sugar. They were spectacular! Taste, texture, shape - visually beautiful to behold, but even better to eat. While more costly than a standard morning meal, this was well worth the splurge. read more

We visited Flourish cafe this morning. I had the caramelized crepes, which had a sweet filling and and was served with blueberries and raspberries, all dusted with powdered sugar. The crepes were delicious! The caramel was nicely caramelized and made the dish just sweet enough. Hot tea was served piping hot-my green tea was good. The service was excellent and the shop was welcoming. The only downside to the whole experience, if you can call it a downside, was the location-it was tricky to find. But it was worth the effort!!! Incredible menu of fresh and delicious European inspired food. My favorite place to get breakfast and brunch. Yummy and innovative drinks too. The ambiance here is very nice as you're surrounded by mostly Russian speaking people so it makes it extra fun as if you've been transported to another country. Excellent food and delightful atmosphere. Knew my Hubby wouldn't appreciate the menu therefore I took 4 girlfriends for lunch. We were comfortably seated at a table for 5. Had the kinda chairs that you could sit in for a while. Loved that it wasn't noisy at all. We had a great time gossiping and catching up. The food was freshly prepared and eye catching. The winner was my Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken was so very tender and seasoned perfectly. The portion was huge and served in an edible cracker type bowl. Three of the girls mentioned they wish they got it. However, their choices looked amazing as well. Two crêpes ordered, breakfast sandwich and a soup with shrimp. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and even talked about the next time we come back. (We are locals and our first time here). If I'm keeping it real, we had two minor things that raised an eyebrow...not worth deducting a star for because everything else was perfect. The first thing...we were told we could ONLY get bottled water which cost $1.50 each. However, they only had one bottle of water left. Waitress stood there not offering an alternative therefore I had to request a glass of tapwater with ice. Secondly, a 4% service charge automatically added to the bill if you use a credit card. Tips are "cash" only. I understand more places are doing this nowadays but between the $1.50 bottle of water and the service charge I was feeling a "bit nickled and dimed." But that was all a minor thing and quickly forgotten. Our server Anya was efficent and sweet. She was the only server and had a few tables. Anya handled it all very well. I was tempted to purchase some pastries from their bakery cabinet...it all looked mouthwatering delicious! Overall it is a gem of a place! Surprised it is open for dinner too...we will have to check that out. read more

We stopped into Flourish Café after an appointment in Newtown hoping to get a great cup of coffee. So many terrific reviews insured us that this cafe was going to live up to the standards we expect in Newtown. We walked into the attractive dining room, empty except for a table of two, and asked if we could get coffee to take out. "Of course," was the enthusiastic reply. We were helped by three people at the counter. We ordered a cappuccino and hot chocolate which were handed to us full to the brim. Amazingly, they didn't have covers for the cups, making it impossible to take the drinks out. As we stood at the counter trying to decide what to do, they eventually handed us clear plastic cups with covers and watched us pour the drinks ourselves from the paper cups into the plastic ones. We were told the plastic was thick so it would not melt. We drove away and soon discovered that both the coffee and the "hot" chocolate were barely lukewarm and certainly not to be enjoyed as delicious, hot beverages. We were just disgusted. We had thrown away 11 dollars--plus a 2 dollar tip--on barely warm drinks that were clearly prepared by an untrained barista in a café that has no standard of quality. The taste of both drinks was horrible resulting in everything being tossed in the trash upon reaching home. Based on the large number of highly negative reviews, it's our guess that the 5-star reviews were written by the owners. read more
