Wow. As a New Yorker, I feel all the stores by me are so picked over. This was like a vintage fever dream sent by angels. Beautifully curated and decorated, there is no junk here. Just lots of gasps and squeaks as my vintage heart went all aflutter. My wallet is empty but my home and closets are happy. Anyone who knows me I love art and I love the art district( short north!) But I love it one for its awesome stores. I love to shop I wont lie^^ and this is one of my fave shops. They have everything retro and vintage...books, clothes, furniture, even kitchen wears. And yup everything in between. I've brought several clothing items, vintage Camera, and this and that. Great place to but cool and interesting gifts. Its a little cramped ! even with the two levels... But well worth the squeezing to score some awesome pieces. The prices are pretty darn good. Far and away, this is THE best vintage and resale shop in central Ohio. It's jam-packed with things that bring me back to my childhood (and beyond) in a fun, inviting atmosphere. The vintage jewelry selection is superb and the themed rooms are a total hit - it makes shopping for what you want SO much easier than in a mish-mash shops such as those found along High St. in Clintonville. I simply salivate over the beauty and creativity of their window displays and were I a wealthier woman, my pad would be decked out in the finest retro furnishings money can buy. My only complaint - there is little to no plus-sized vintage clothing to be found in the sizeable treasure-trove of a basement. However, if you're a size 8 or thinner, the basement is vintage clothing Nirvana. read more

After spending way too much time and money at the original Flower Child location in Lakewood (a bummed-out junkie-chic burgh on Cleveland's west side), I nearly wet myself when I found out they finally decided to expand to Columbus. Just like the Cleveland store, the intuitive layout of Flower Child is what sets it apart from the millions of other vintage stores that have popped up around the midwest in the wake of the gentrification boom that gave birth to areas like the Short North. The idea you have to bear with when you first walk in is that you're on a self-guided tour through a house that's been in a complete state of stasis for the past fifty years. The living room ensembles are pieced together to look exactly like embarrassing family photos that have remained locked away in a grandparent's attic for years, and they have the egg-shaped chairs and shag carpeting to match. The basement is a laugh riot as well, complete with a section devoted to vintage porno mags that are just like the ones you used to steal from under your dad's mattress when you were a youngster. With the help of a pilfered can of Blatz and a plastic wicker lawn chair (which Flower Child certainly has plenty of) you'll be reminiscing about the good 'ol days in no time. read more

Five Star customer service at Flower Child? NOPE! I suggested to a friend that we visit this store while we were in Columbus on Black Friday, visiting friends. We've had great experiences with the FLOWER CHILD store in Cleveland Ohio. Upon finding two interesting, but pricey shirts, he approached the clerks or owners to inquire about the possibility for negotiating the price. After she finished counting the change in the drawer, he was told they could reduce by 10%, when asked if there was room for further discounts, the response was a coarse and loud "NOPE!". This has left a very poor impression for this store. Maybe Santa will give this person manners for Christmas. read more

Great selection of hard-to-find vintage relics. However, the tone of the place turns me off. There are signs all over the place telling me not to steal, that I'm on video, and that if I break something, I have to buy it. No kidding--I've been in a store before. I could easily spend HOURS at a time wandering around this store. You can find basically everything here. The basement is filled from floor to ceiling with vintage clothing, most pieces at pretty moderate prices. The "dressing room" in the basement is kinda scary though. It's cold, drafty, creepy, complete with these dicey looking spiderwebs. However: still better than a thrift store dressing room, yikes. The upstairs portion of the shop has lots of little rooms, each with a *sortof* theme. Directly to the left upon entering the store is furniture/knickknack rooms set up as retro living rooms and dens. Everything is in tip top preserved condition and beautiful. The kitchen room is awesome, this is where I'm coming if I ever need a retro red/silver chrome breakfast table set or a chrome coffee percolator. They have lots of those here. Essentially, this place has EVERYTHING vintage or retro that you could think of. I have seen the following items here: frilly 50s aprons, smiley face pots for plants, hideous tiki-barroom memorabilia, pink babydoll pajamas, a yellow and black plaid suit, the most Hideous and Amazing sofas I've ever seen in my LIFE, and drawers full of any kind of scarf you could imagine. They have awesome jewelry up front too. If you come in here, good luck to the rest of your day, because you are likely to spend way more time in here than you thought you were going to(be careful to put enough jingle in the parking meter too). read more

Love this place. I stayed away for a long time because I was creeped out by this hippie thing they used to put out front. (Can't help it, can't explain it.) Hubby and I visited one day during gallery hop and just went in to snoop around. I ended up buying a sweet pair of pointy leather boots at 20% off and he got a authentic Greek fisherman's cap. I mean, you can actually *touch* and *buy* the stuff on display, and some of the dresses can conjure up romanticized thoughts of a classic mid-twentieth-century prom night. As much as I like exploring, I never wind up liking anything I see enough to buy it. If there is something I'm genuinely intrigued in, it's always way expensive. Flower Child is so much fun. I like this location a little better than the Cleveland location because it's roomier and you feel less like you're going to smash into something every time you turn a corner. The employees were very nice and helpful. I tend to geek out over vintage fabulousness, so I spent a good hour and a half in here. For me, it's part shopping, part looking at things as you would in a museum. Even the items that are way out of my price range are still fun to look at! I wouldn't say their prices are cheap, but go to a store like this in New York or San Francisco and you will know that vintage items can always be much more expensive! read more

There was so much stuff here! I work at a vintage shop and it was hard for me to imagine one bigger than the one I work at, but, man. Huge. The basement is also filled. There is just about any type of thing you'd want here. There is a lot of 1970s and I was specifically looking for 30s, 40s and 50s. I did leave with three 40s items, a 50s, and a 70s item. They had a good amount of what I was looking for in a wide range of sizes, but I will say there is nothing older than the 40s that I could see and some items labeled as 30s were actually 40s. The pricing is pretty fair, although one of the items I purchased was over priced but I realllly wanted it. The confusing part of the store is that it is separated by vendor, so there aren't designated areas for types of items or era. The employees are really nice, too. I will definitely return. read more

2.5. This used to be one of my all time favorite vintage stores but we knew the second we walked in by the smell of stinky old shoe that a shift had occurred. They still have a couple of rooms with housewares, furniture and kitchen items but their bread and butter is now definitely vintage clothes. Where they used to have just one pretty massive selection of vintage clothes in the basement, both sides are now dominated by them as well as several spots upstairs. The place literally smells and not in that good musty, old leather or book smell like most vintage places. We literally had to hold our breath through the lobby and into one of the side rooms because it stunk so bad from the 100 or so pairs of shoes that lined the entryway. Obviously if vintage clothes are what you're looking for then score for you, my friends. But we left feeling seriously disappointed and will save our next FC outing for the one in Cleveland and hope they haven't made the same switch. Sigh. read more

It's impossible to navigate their labyrinthine rooms without constantly bumping into other people. Vintage is not really my expertise, but I have been in a number of shops and this one has considerably more stuff without having considerably more crap. There are probably over ten rooms in this place. It seems to specialize in 1970s era pieces. You can find clothing, homewares, furniture, and some art here. I'm going to give an A+ to the women's shoes and coats collections in particular. Good service, they really do know how to undress a mannequin there. read more

Upon entering I was amazed by the selection. They have TWO BASEMENTS filled with vintage clothes and several other rooms of clothes and furniture. The staff is friendly and the variety of items can be overwhelming (in a good way). Though, what agitated me about this place was the pricing. I saw items that had stains, missing buttons, or loosening of stitches but were priced at $40, $50, and $60! Don't get me wrong they have a lot of mint condition high quality vintage items. Though, on average I felt that most of the items were a bit ridiculous. I'm a thrifter so I was able to find an eccentric yet fashionable blazer for $20. Paying $20 for a piece of clothing in that place is a deal. read more

For a trip down into the past this is definately the place. The rooms are set up in period style, 60's and 70's living rooms, a cool bright overstocked 50's and 60's kitchen, wonderful clothing and acessories from the 30's 40's 50's 60's upstairs in the delightful violet room.. lots of stuff for him, and then you go downstairs and your head will explode with the selection! The owner Mary Beth is a sweetie pie and so are the gals who work for her... loved this placed and their wonderful merchandise, can't wait to stop in again next time I am back this way. read more
