I tried this service to send flowers to someone in McLean. Fairly good selection -- designs were typical "Tele-flora" type selections. Price was reasonable, and ordering online was a breeze. Service was ok, a little confusing as I got one notice saying they were delivered, but they actually weren't. Then a second notice saying it was hand delivered, what the email didn't say was that it was hand delivered to a neighbor. They left a voice mail message with the recipient phone, but I would have also liked a notification of the change, as the sender, instead of chasing it down 3 times. At least have an option in the email notification whether they were left elsewhere. If you are looking for a more unique design or upscale aesthetic, I would go elsewhere, but if you're looking for a place to get a nice arrangement, this is a good place to go, and as always it's nice to support a local business. read more

Absolutely love this shop in the heart of McLean. What I love most is you can pick & buy by the stem. I love bringing my tutoring students here to create their own bouquets! The staff are great and will pick extra greens to fluff up your arrangement. They have lots of unique flowers that you can't often find in grocery stores. Once finished, they wrap your flowers in brown paper and let you pick out your own ribbon from a wide range of colors and textures. A small shop but cute and not overly pricey. I was in a pinch. Mother's Day this weekend. Coinciding with my wife's birthday a few days later. Supermarket flowers are great but don't have the same wow factor as a professionally done arrangement. I called around to several florists to see if they have loose flowers to make into your own arrangement. Nope! Apparently that isn't how it works anymore, you just have to call in or pick out something pre-made from pictures on a website. Not here. Although it was very busy and some flowers were already set aside (sold) I had a great experience working with a staff member to create my own arrangement. While it wasn't cheap, I think the fresh flowers were of good quality, and that's worth the cost in my book. Well received at home! read more

I specifically asked for a picture of the finished product and was told that was no problem and I would also be notified when it was delivered. Fast forward and the day of delivery came and went. No picture, no text. I called in and apparently they "never send pictures" and it's been their policy for 40yrs and I was helped by a trainee. If that is important to you, be warned. I do think a $200 purchase deserves a bit more care and attention but I'm told the arrangement was beautiful. read more

I made the order over the phone and gave them my budget and flower preferences, and they were wonderful when discussing my budget and when I could pick them up. I prepaid and was happy to see a contactless pickup inside, but they are happy to come outside to drop off the flowers. After 9 days, the hydrangeas still look fresh. I am a caregiver and I accompanied my 87 year old client to shop here on Monday, August 9th. There were 3 employees who helped her choose a plant. It took her a while to decide but she eventually bought a 6" ZZ plant. She was also told that an 8" aloe will be available on Thursday. I was impressed with the patience of the 3 employees that I asked if they are open on Saturday bec I want to buy something for my anniversary. However, when we came back on Thursday to buy the aloe plant , another employee told us they don't have any available and she called the owner to come out. I witnessed the old man/owner berate an old lady because she asked for the 6" plant that she wanted to be repotted to an 8" pot. He refused to do it bec he said he was busy but after over 5 minutes of back and forth, he said the he will drop everything he was doing and that it will cost $15 extra. He was almost yelling at her. His tone was abusive. I will never shop here. There's a new place that opened on Broad street. read more

Absolutely over the moon! About a year ago I purchased several small succulents and cacti from Flowers and Plants and fell so much in love with them. They were a bit pricy compared to other shops so I decided to expand my succulent garden and purchased two dozen from Home Depot to try to save money. Almost 10 months later and every single one of my plants from Home Depot is either dead, dying, or has lost its pigment. EVERY PLANT purchased from Flowers and Plants is growing steady, healthily and full of vibrant colors. It just goes to show- they don't cut corners, their quality of plants is astounding, and it is hands down worth it to shop with them. They have a customer for life. Ordered a dozen "classic" Red Roses for my wife on our anniversary; $76 plus $15 delivery & tax totaled $96. Red Roses were large size, and bouquet was "spread out" quite nicely. Delivery was 10am when I requested after Noon delivery, but no points taken off for this. Wife wasn't home to receive it, so surprise effect" was lost, but I was home to take delivery. The "personal message" for my wife was buried in the multi-page print out for the delivery person. My other option was floral through Costco, which for about $50 (tax included), I would probably have received a similar bouquet, but it would in a box with a glass vase which required assembly by the recipient. The Costco service doesn't generally do Weekend delivery. So, you have to decide "fully assembled" for more cost (local business) or "partially assembled" bouquet for less cost. read more

Very impressed! I live out of town and was able to place an order online and have my sister pick-up to deliver to my Mom. Wanted to save on delivery charges, but theirs was much more reasonable that others I have used in the past (I think only about $10). I will mention I placed the order the night before I needed and it was ready in plenty of time. Not only was the arrangement beautiful, but I was sent an email confirmation that the order had been picked-up AND a photo of the ACTUAL arrangement! Stumbled in here, dazed and confused. I even almost parked at a handicap parking spot naer their store until i saw the faint blue paint under my feet. That's how dazed and confused i was. I wanted to pick something up for me and my wife's anniversary. We've been so busy with everything that we both had no energy to really do much. Which is why I almost forgot. After a quick yelp search for a florist, I headed their way, didnt read any of their reviews, just trusted that 5 stars! The place is not hard to find and there are plenty of parking spaces. Before you walk in, they have a little inconspicuous note on their door. It says that all of their flowers are local or locally grown. My favorite word: Local Entering the store, it feels amazing. Yes, "feels" I said. It has a nice energy in there. It's probably due to the many plants everywhere, and the fact that its clean. Everything is alive and not a single thing is wilting. They did not have much in the refrigerator since they usually do deliveries, but what they had was enough. I was able to pick up a thing of flowers with fall colors. beautiful and fresh flowers! It was very unique looking. Most places just put a bunch of flowers together and its just flowers that looks like you could have gotten it from Safeway/Giant but not them! Price is also reasonable too. I ended up also buying a little tiny hanging terrarium that had 1 single succulent growing inside, you can hang it on your cabinet door knob, Its super cute! On top of that, since I couldn't carry everything myself, the gentleman that rung me up didnt even hesitate to help me bring my stuff to my car, he even put it in my car! Customer service is outstanding. He's one of the kindest gentleman I've ever met! They made a customer for life! I find it hard to believe how little you get for how much you pay at this place. Now, to be fair they did a nice job of delivering the flowers before 1pm which is what I requested, but that is all the good that I can say. The flowers delivered were not fragrant (which I asked for), not beautiful (which I asked for), and the quantity of flowers was if I had ordered a $45 dollar bouquet. I ordered an $80 bouquet. It was small, non fragrant, a 4 out of 10 on beautiful and the number of flowers was minuscule. I will NEVER use them again!!! read more

I thought the prices were very fair, given that the flowers were sooo much better than the usual "rush into the grocery store" bouquet. (Believe me, you can tell the difference too) Being a small local business and not a 1 800 number also appeals to me. Knowing that Chip, his family, and staff personally take care of me is far superior to some phone operator based in who knows where. I had a phenomenal experience working with Sonya and Sherri to create my dream wedding flowers. Sherri and Sonya are very professional, fun and creative people. They incorporated vases made by my mom with my vague idea of centerpieces based on my love for daisies and Pinterest photographs. The end result was soooo beautiful. Each centerpiece was slightly different and incorporated all of the flowers we talked about and even more than I expected. They were able to fully understand my vision for the wedding flowers and create something even better than I imagined. The flowers looked beautiful in my mom's homemade vases. My bridal bouquet was gorgeous and perfect for my casual beach wedding in the dunes surrounded by yellow wild flowers (very similar to the ones in my wedding flowers!). The flowers for our daughter's wedding were not only reasonably priced for the amazing quality we received but they were absolutely beautiful. From the bouquets to the boutonnieres to the table arrangements - they were better than we were expecting. But the place where Flowers & Plants really showed how amazing they are was in the flowers for the custom trellis made by the bride's father. The theme of the wedding was books and the altar was made with 2 bookcases connected by a trellis. They only saw a picture of it a couple of days before the wedding and still created a beautiful design of flowers that created an amazing backdrop for the wedding ceremony and pictures. I was very happy with the floral centerpieces that were created by Flowers & Plants for my mom's memorial service reception. I had ordered 10. I had asked that they be in lots of different colors because my mom like multi-colored things, and there were several different colors of flowers in the arrangements without being too showy or bright. Also I had told Alison that mom loved red, and so she included a few red carnations and one perfect red rose in each one. They were just perfect. They were easy to work with, the flowers were delivered to the church on time, and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Awful experience. Yesterday at about 6:20 PM I got a very strange called from a Chip from this store. He said is this..... and I said yes. He said we have attempted to deliver flowers to you but no one was home. I said I was home all day today and there is no delivery tag on my door suggesting that you attempted to deliver anything. I am leaving now so don;t bother to re-deliver at this point of the day and as a matter of fact, I will not be home so do not deliver. I asked him who were they from and he refused to tell me. This morning I called back the store and Chip got on the phone once again, argumentative and unwilling to let me know who sent the gesture. He argued with me that maybe I did not hear him ring the bell and I said, that was impossible because I am was IN all day and would have heard the bell. I asked how come if you delivered, you did not leave a delivery flag that you were there or leave the flowers at the door. He went on to argue that maybe I did not hear the doorbell or could I have been getting ready and not heard him. How about this Chip...you did not make an attempt to deliver during normal hours and you were driving home from work because your shop was closed after 6 and decided to drop off the flowers and put together a big story of why they were not delivered during the day. Whatever, it was, you are in a business that delivers to many different situations and it is holiday now--------why not leave a note if you had attempted delivery. You did not attempt anything but you want to charge the sender and make up an excuse. When I asked you who sent them, you replied that you still had not gotten back to the sender to tell them that you did not deliver but you would not tell me who sent them , YOUR BUSINESS PRACTICES IS AWFUL AND MOREOVER, YOU ARE A FRAUD FOR STATING THAT YOU ATTEMPTED A DELIVERY AND CHARGED THE SENDER WHEN YOU DID NEITHER. Horrific poor service! I ordered a bouquet of fresh flowers for a Monday pickup with the explicit promise that the arrangement would be made from freshly delivered Monday flowers. i offered to pickup at lunch if that was easier but was assured that a morning pickup was certainly possible with fresh flowers. Unfortunately the arrangement was assembled two days earlier on Saturday. The flowers were dead by Wednesday and were an embarrassing disappointment. Also, the arrangement was very ordinary and not particularly pretty. When I expressed my dissatisfaction I was told that the price of one particularly ugly flower was $6 a stem (the cost did not make them prettier). Two orange roses were added reluctantly and I was given a speech about how impossible it is to do a Monday am pickup unless the prior week's flowers were used. That would have been great information to have in advance - a noon delivery would have been fine. Clearly my dissatisfaction was of no concern and the store was happy to keep my prepaid, upfront money. Do yourself a favor and patronize a florist that appreciates your business and does not lie to you with a straight face. read more
