Hands down the best happy hour in Reno. 2 pm to 6pm and 10pm to midnight... half off drinks and $5 appetizers, the half order of nachos is $5 and its huge, I can't even imagine a full order. The Shipwreck is fun if you have a group. :) We're regulars here for sure. Love the nautical atmosphere, love the food, servers are friendly and fast, and they always have the right game on somewhere. I'm rounding up to 4 stars here but I really feel it was more deserving of a 3 1/2 star experience. We ordered the sampler platter as an appetizer and said we would start with that at the time of the order, and then ordered our entree plates. The two entrees were brought out first, I ordered the fish and chips (Monday special) and my friend ordered the meatloaf- comes with veggies+ mashed potatoes/gravy, looked very delicious and he enjoyed it. The fish was crunchy batter and fresh, very tasty tartar sauce. The appetizer ended up being served half way through our main plates, and we ended up having to push it to the other end of our table because while the appetizer platter looked and smelled good, it was very overwhelming aromas that were making it hard to enjoy the entree plates. Once we were done with the entrees the appetizer platter was no longer hot so that was a bummer. (Mozzarella sticks/jalapeño poppers/fried zucchini/buffalo wings) all which should be enjoyed hot and fresh! Gal who served us was nice, but service was a bit slower than we would have liked. It's definitely a busy location but that is expected when you are a pub, and we assume that they would staff accordingly. Not sure if there was a confusion about our order ticket or if it had anything to do with the server. We sat at a booth and it was not too crazy long before we were helped with menu and drinks , Not exactly a place I'd recommend if you're looking to go out and chat a bunch over a meal, but definitely a fun, upbeat atmosphere to hang out. Great food, great service. Quick and inexpensive for the most part (and a military discount). My favorite for lunch is their club sando. Unfortunately I forget the name of it, but it has toasted bread, turkey, ham, avocado, and bacon. Their beer-battered fries are awesome, and their ranch goes great with both the fries and dipping the sandwich in. =) For dinner, I always, always, ALWAYS get their rueben. Utterly fantastic, the best rueben I've ever had! I heard from a friend that it's different because they'll marinate the meat in the sauce, rather than just make the sandwich and poor the sauce on right before serving. I don't know if this is true, but it certainly tastes like it is, so I'll just go with it. Sometimes the sando is a bit light on the sauce, so I'll order a little side cup of it for good measure, just in case. If you're ordering to go, and you like sides of ranch, count how much you have before you leave and ask the waitress for more if need some ... the bartenders are a little stingy, imo (ie: 1 or 2 ranch for 2 meals w/ fries and a large appetizer.) The atmosphere is superb, the waitresses are always friendly and quick, plenty of TVs for sports, and all the locations have pool, darts, some video games, and a jukebox. Oh, and a great selection of beer ... I love that they have Blue Moon! Overall, I love this place, it's hard to turn down when suggested or invited. (at this particular location, I often feel like the bartenders completely ignore me. Sometimes it can take upwards of 10 minutes to finally get my order that I called in ahead of time for, or on other nights just to order my first drink ... or second. I'm not talking about busy nights, either. Their lack of situational awareness is second-to-none. Often others will get served when they just approached the bar, and I'm literally standing there trying to flag them down with a $20 bill ... and I tip quite well, even with bad service, hoping they'll remember me next time. But they don't. I really, really dislike the bartenders. It seems that it's just the way they are there, as I don't get treated this way anywhere else. Really pisses me off. Went here on a really busy night. I ordered the Rueben with fries. Very nice atmosphere. It was Sunday evening and the place was packed. They extremely low staffed. Our waitress seemed to be covering the entire place and she did an awesome job. The Reuben was awesome. Would definitely go back just for that. read more

Very good fish and chips. The fish was cooked perfectly and was only lightly battered. The chips were very unique and delicious as well. The tartar sauce was certainly different and did not taste like traditional tartar sauce. Rather, it was more like a dill heavy, thin ranch dressing. Being Scandinavian, I appreciated the dill but my British coworker longed for the traditional version. Add another to my list of go-to places in Reno. read more

We've been coming to this particular Flowing Tide for the last 10 years. The service continues to decline to the point that we find ourselves at our most recent visit. We came in sat at a clean table and at least three different servers walked past us, never acknowledged us, never offered to find the person to whom the table belonged, did absolutely nothing. People walk in after us, sit down, are given menus, drink orders taken and yet the servers continue to walk past us never offering any acknowledgement or service of any kind. This is not the first time this has happened, but it is certainly the last as we are done with this place. We had continued to go as the food is dependable and good. We also periodically order takeout as we currently have no kitchen. We promptly left there and went to Chili's, where we were literally greeted very heartily at the door, promptly seated, and were assigned to a very sweet and pleasant waitress who enjoyed a 25% tip when we were finished, yes, we are very large tippers, always have been, even mediocre service gets at least 15%. And, our meal at Chili's was very good. We have been to other Flowing Tide establishments in the Reno area and this one has, literally, hands-down, the worst service and vibe of any. We won't be coming back and I would never recommend this place, even to someone that I did not like. No photos, as we obviously did not get any food or any drink or even a menu. read more

The one thing which really stands out to me about this pub is the decor. I'm loving the ship theme. They have a massive model ship near the entrance too which I found to be rather interesting. I also thought it was a bit funny how they had a Duck Dynasty video game located toward the back; whatever floats your boat I guess (every pun intended). There is a massive selection of draft beer and I would recommend at least asking to try the Hell or High Watermelon beer just for the sake of tasting a watermelon flavored beer. It wasn't bad but it took a few drinks to acquire the taste. The beer definitely needs to be stronger though. They could improve their selection of bottled beers, but overall, it's a good place to go for a drink. One thing I do love about this pub is the fact that they served pitchers of beer. I feel like that should be standard for all pubs and bars when it comes to draft beers, but I haven't come across many places which serve pitchers. I ordered the Fish and Chips entree. It was good, but there is only so much you can do with cod, batter, and french fries. The fish wasn't dry and the portion was enormous. I'm going to have to come back and try one of their burgers because that's what I hear all the rage is about. I only have one minor complaint and it's not a huge deal. This was the worst service I have ever had. We arrived at the bar with a party of four and ordered a fishbowl and some food. There was someone I knew at a table nearby and so we talked for a little while. When it was time to go the MANAGER lumped together the check for four different tables for a bill of $334!! We were NOT associated with the other tables WHATSOEVER and when we confronted the MANAGER she chose to turn and walk away literally every time anyone tried approaching her. This place sucks. The food is overrated and makes no sense. For instance they have two salads with identical ingredients except a piece of fruit and the dressing. The shrimp cocktail was a joke 10.99 for 6 medium to small shrimp over avacado and cucumber? The list goes on. The wait staff were lazy, took our server 20 min to take our food order while another server took our drink order, and yet another brought our food. Didn't quite know who was serving us still. I do love The Tide, don't get me wrong, but today was just a big disappointment on the food side of things. I'm an avid Tide goer, so to speak, and have my fav entrées picked out before I even sit down at the table. I don't usually go into the northwest location simply because I don't live out that way anymore, but my Father, nephew and I decided to dine here today because it was close and trusted. Service was great and that's pretty typical, at least when I go in, but the food...left something to be desired. Like I said, I had my entrée picked out before I sat down, but the server informed me that the bread I wanted was no longer available (I know it was, but really didn't want to make a stink about it) and instead suggested the Dutch Crunch Roll. Ok, why not I thought, I've had them before...folks it was soggy and not crunchy. My soup was warm, not hot, and when I tried a bite of my Father's Cheesesteak sando...I bit into the "skin" of the onion. The other thing that happened was not their fault and hopefully they'll have a chat with their purveyors about that specific product. All and all, just a bad day for food at the Tide. I know some of this was just personal preference, but some was lack of consistency. I'll be back. read more

I had dinner there 3 nights ago. The one at the south end of town is much nicer! The food was OK. The waitress was TERRIBLE (2nd time I've had awful service there). And the table was so dirty & gross & sticky. Even after asking for a rag to wipe it down, it still stayed sticky & the table next to it was the same. I have been going to Flowing Tide for at least 15 years and they consistently have good service, great food, and an excellent beer selection. When I was young and childless I used to enjoy the happy hour a couple of times a week. Now that I have a family, we go less often, but we all enjoy it. The burgers are great, their fries are some of the best in town and the nachos are huge and delicious. Plus, they always have a hard cider on tap which I appreciate. Call me a liar! I said I wouldn't come here again, but picture this: it was 10 at night, and I was craving a hamburger. I didnt want to drive far, so that left me with flowing tide and I'm so glad it did. It was the flowing tide I remembered and wasn't close to the bad experience I had last time. We didn't even realize we came at happy hour, so that made it all the better. We sat down and immediately looked over the drink menu, you can't beat these prices for happy hour honestly! I got the Rip Tide and my boyfriend got the High Beam. Both came out quickly and were DELICIOUS. Seriously, so damn good. We then both ordered a bbq burger with onion rings. Again, food came out within 12 minutes I would say, satisfying my hungry belly quickly! The burger was good. Nothing to write home to mom about, but good! It was drenched in bbq. I know it's called the bbq burger, but damn. That was a lot of bbq! The onion rings were baller. Seriously, seriously yummy! Service was great. Our waitress was laid back, cool and very nice.
