I wanna love Fluff soooo bad, I really do! But seriously, a smile and/or sincere interaction would really make me feel like coming here more often. The owner isn't the only one with a chip on her shoulder. Whilst working for a pastry establishment, you should most likely be as sweet as the product you're selling. I've tried the brisket fat caramel and duck fat caramel--both are just your typical caramels, but the brisket has more of a smokey flavor, which makes it a bit interesting. My hubby really likes the birthday cake, it's his favorite! I'd say mine is the couch potato cookie, which is an excellent preparation, followed closely by the snicker doodle and fluffernutter. I've also had the pb&j tart as well as the Oreo cookie, both disappointing. The veruca salt cake is the top seller, so go for that if they have it! Location is dismal. Parking situation: sucks. I was really excited to try FBB from all the reviews, while turning a blind eye to the more not so great ones. Well, I should have heeded the latter. These cup-cakes are nothing special. I wanted to go to Fluff Bake Bar ever since I saw Sherry Yard interview the owner on the IPic pre-movie show. We ate the unicorn dessert more than once and hoped it would be available at the bakery, plus thought this was signs of other goodies at the bakery. We stopped by there tonight around 9 pm and it was challenging to find a parking space. We passed several other nice places for dessert to get there, but were determined to go there. Sadly it was disappointing. The girl at the counter was not friendly. We asked about the unicorn dessert and she said that was only an Ipic promo. I asked if they had anything else like it. She said no. She did not try to sell us on anything else and almost seemed annoyed. I saw there was a hazelnut icecream dessert with unicorn sparkle, I was telling my sister about. She just wanted us to get our order in and move along. Why the rush?! There was no one after us. I even commented when I was paying we had eaten the unicorn dessert several times at the theater. She never reacted or looked up from ringing us up. I noticed you had other cakes in layers in cups, which is a similar idea to the unicorn dessert. She never pointed anything out. While at the counter the owner passed, and I got excited and immediately said oh, you are like a local celebrity! She kept on going to the kitchen. I asked the girl at the counter if that was the owner and she said yes. I was disappointed even the owner was rude. She eventually came out to the dining area and spoke to some people having a meeting there drinking topo chicos. We were only 1 of three tables there, but she did not bat an eye to us. I went to the back to see what was in the back door, and she almost bumped into me. Still said nothing. If you are a local business owner, especially after you know you have a shop in a high traffic area with bad parking, and you have very few people in your shop....speak! Make eye contact! Hire friendly people who want to be there. I was disappointed and even if my black and white cookie was good, there are a lot of bakeries with black and white cookies, that are much closer, in a better and more accessible area and most importantly, with friendlier employees and owners. read more

I didn't even know this location existed. I had always wanted to try the one at revival market. They have a great variety of sweets and treats. I came knowing I was going to get a Couch Potato Cookie and also got some type of brownie cookie. They were both delicious and the perfect amount of softness without completely falling apart. Beautiful looking deserts, however it was more pleasant looking at them than eating them. Pretty pricey for the quality...9.20 for a tiny cup of cake and one cookie. They had a shirt hanging up that said baked with hate because they have reviews that said they use too much sugar and butter, but instead of making a joke out of it they should have listened to their customers who only want their business to improve because that review was right. I had a very bad experience with Rebecca and a cake she made me for a baby shower. It was a beautiful, expensive cake that ended up looking terrible. The writing needed to be corrected 3 times so the icing color didn't match and it looked awful. I called her to talk about my bad experience and that i would like a partial refund or credit to the bakery and would post a bad review. She started yelling at me that I was threatening her about posting a bad review. She offered me $5 back and ended up hanging up on me. I definitely feel some type of way about cupcakes! I've been searching all over the Houston area and surrounding suburbs for the perfect cupcake. I've always said that a cupcake should taste like a slice of cake! After trying nearly every place I landed in midtown at fluff bake bar. It wasn't even my birthday but I had to order the birthday cake cupcake. I loved it so bad that I wanted to put my name on it and I too could not wait to blow dem candles out!!!! I love a frosting that is firm and not loose and I love the cake portion not to taste dry nor weird like other cupcake places. I didn't want to like this place because of the location and the pricing but sometimes you just have to give it up and eat it! I was also pleasantly surprised that the peach macaron was fresh and moist. I didn't care too much for the flavor but thats just a personal taste. The macaron definitely had all the right textures! I walked in on a Friday evening with my family and couldn't believe what I saw. There were two ladies in the back preparing food, and one of the ladies was licking her fingers every chance she got. This place was interesting. I think dessert places sometimes have a hard time figuring out how to keep a dessert fresh without giving it that refrigerated taste. Especially with the jar desserts you want your pastry cream and cake to be silky smooth and moist but if you put it in the fridge section of display it will get hard. I really like the Saturday Morning bake sale selections since I'm into more savory stuff. I haven't had anything sweet yet, but the croissants and kolaches are great. Follow them on Facebook to know what's on the menu that day. I wish the owner would have a smile on her face tho. Every time I'm there she doesn't smile or greet anyone, just down to business with the orders-- even when other customers said how good something was they got a stone faced thank you in return. I get that you need to move the line, but you could at least make the customers feel welcome after standing in line for your stuff with a smile and good morning. The Unicorn Bait is amazing. Couch Potato is delicious. The PB chocolate and the espresso cookies are unapologetically chocolatey. If you're into Captain Crunch they have a cookie that tastes just like it. I haven't been impressed by any of the other items I've tried: Birthday CupCake; lemon tart, PB&J tart (husband disagrees). In short, you should probably just get one of each cookie and maybe take a chance on one non-cookie item. Also, it looks like they host guest bakers with featured menus on Saturdays, which I am eager to try. So I turned to Yelp and I found this place was within 3 miles... So we made our trek... It wasn't hard to find BUT parking was not easy... Mind you this was a Saturday night after 10 pm... I thought that this place was located in a regular strip mall but it's actually like a shop under an apartment... So street parking... We found a garage while walking to the bakery... So when we finally walk in I was expecting to see a layout similar to what I saw in the pictures on Yelp... I didn't even take into account that it was like almost 11:00 in the evening so the choices were not as plentiful as it might've been in the afternoon... Nonetheless I made the decision to get a couch potato cookie and a snicker doodle... It looked like these cookies were just displayed on a plate but when I got them in my hand they were warm!! Who doesn't love a warm cookie? So I had to dig in... Couch potato was delicious! It's like the perfect combination of salty and sweetness... So good and addicting. I haven't tried to snicker doodle yet because I crashed from my sugar high lol... I would totally come again when I'm in the area... Would love to try other treats read more

Was lost trying to find my way back to ANY highway.... Saw the name and thought I should stop. I saw this cookie that had totally weird ingredients and asked what it was...The gal behind the counter said it is her most popular seller. It had potato chips, pretzels and toffee and other things in it.... It was DELICIOUS! I only bought one. I wish I bought more. This place is a must stop on your trip. I've been getting Fluff Bake Bar's cup|cakes since the days they were available at Revival Market. I have yet to be even slightly disappointed with anything. I called yesterday to see if it was possible to get a cake the same day (my mom failed to plan for event that evening). The lady who answered the phone was cheery, told me what was available and let me know that I could pay for the cake over the phone to have it (it was already made) held until I could get there. This saved me from having to search all over town for a good cake -- and we got my first choice. Total win! When I arrived to pick up the cake, I was promptly greeted with a smile and the cake was ready to go. I ordered a few extra cup|cakes for myself. If you haven't tried the Veruca Salt, I very highly recommend it. I usually don't like chocolate cake, but I dream about this one. The frosting-cake balance is perfect, and the amount of salt is just right. The pretzels and chocolate pearls add a great bit of texture, and the amount of each has obviously been thoroughly considered. Rebecca's passion for the perfect sweets shines bright! Let me start with the fact that I have been wanting to go here since the article about them getting a storefront that was in the Chronicle a few months ago. I held on to the article all this time. So imagine how excited I was to walk in there yesterday.! I have to say What a HUGE let down! The lemon pound was not even a full slice and it was dry/ dense. Not much of selection. I pre-ordered a strawberry lemon cake for my mom's birthday and it was DELICIOUS. The sweetness of the strawberry jam plus the tartness of the lemon curd was just SOOOOO GOOD. Plus the pearls gave it a subtle pop. My mom who is an expert cake baker also enjoyed the cake. The process was quick and easy. I called a couple of days ahead (they want at least a 24 hour notice), and told me my cake would be ready on pick up day earliest at 10 AM, and latest pick up time was midnight. Staff was sweet, but the only thing was that it was a real pain getting to the store at like 730 on a Friday night. It was kinda hard to find (maps took me to Bagby), and parking was terrible. I am anticipating the next time I can order another cake so I can try the Veruca Salt and Black Velvet cake! read more

I've stopped by a few times over the last year to pick up cookies - every cookie from Fluff I've tried has been a winner. It took my experience last Saturday to get me to write a review though. I needed a birthday cake for a restaurant dinner party. The birthday girl specifically requested "funfetti," and Fluff definitely delivered the fun with their birthday cake. The cake was delicious, white cake that reminded me of angel food cake, but better, with fantastic chocolate frosting. Not too sweet, just perfect. Even better than the cake though was the service from Fluff. The owner personally intervened when it looked like I might not be able to get the cake into the restaurant - she completely saved the day! Fluff has been one of my favorite bakeries ever since it opened near where I used to live. So when it came to my wedding, I knew we had to have some treats from fluff! We had some of the cake cups (veruca salt, birthday cake, and strawberry lemon), fluffernutters, couch potatoes, star crossed lovers, and mini lemon tarts. It was easy to order through our wedding planner and her assistant picked everything up the morning of, super easy process and affordable! I received SO many compliments from all of my guests. Everybody loved how delicious and unique everything was. I had a lot of out of town guests and was happy to share one of my favorite places in Houston with them!
