With that said, Fluffy lives up to its name. Their donuts are some of the fluffiest and most delicious I've ever had. To start, the owner is always super nice. He greets each and every customer with a friendly smile, even at 6am in the morning. He's even nice enough to remind you to bring cash so you don't get the extra credit charge. He never rushes you if you take a long time to choose, which is always the case for me. Now their donuts. They are fresh, and light, and have a delightful crisp. They are never, ever stale. From their old fashion to their bars and twists, each donut will not disappoint. They have your regular traditional flavors, like maple and glazed, so don't expect any wild and crazy concoctions. It's your classic donut. I would say the giant maple twist and apple fritters are my favorite. Every time I take a bite into one of their donuts, I feel like a bit nostalgic. It's like I'm a kid again, enjoying the amazing taste for the first time. They offer a variety of drinks, ranging from coffees to soda. And they even have Vietnamese sandwiches if you're around for lunch. I believe the best part of Fluffy is seeing all the families that come here on Sunday morning. I normally park my car near here (U Mall) when I go to the gym. Oh god why did they have to put a donut place right after I finish my workouts :( ?? Luckily, the place is always closed when I'm around (store hours are 5am to 5pm). I ordered an old fashioned donut and a maple donut. My friends ordered donut holes and regular chocolate donuts. Verdict? The old fashioned donut is where this shop got its name from. I thought I was eating a cloud (a diabetic inducing cloud). I used to come here from time to time as a freshman when I lived in the dorms. It was a nice, welcoming place to get some pastries on the go. They're cheap, delicious, and there's sure to be something for everyone. The other day I decided to stop here because I was in the mood for a croissant sandwich. I NEEDED ONE. I love them. Anyway, I ended up getting a ham and cheese croissant for around $3 and a bag of a dozen of yesterday's donut holes. Since they were yesterday's, they were half off (around 80 cents)! A little hard, a tad stale, but still good and not too shabby for a few quarters! The boyfriend got banh mi (a Vietnamese sandwich) for less than $3. It was so good too! They also offer Thai Tea, which I didn't get, but will probably try some other time. The owner (or simply the cashier if he wasn't the owner) was a very nice man. Very patient and very helpful. There's a good amount of seating indoors, some tables and benches outside. Nice location. Located near Starbucks, Forever 21, Subway, Trader Joe's, The Grad, and Am-Pm. Will be going back! PS: (I had to come back and edit this just to add this.) I'm not one for Davis water. Never have been, never will. It's made me sick so many times. Once upon a time, my friend came over from the bay to visit and we stayed up until 4 a.m. playing board games and talking nonsense. We got rather hungry and the apartment we were at (a friend's) was out of food, so we Davis-wiki'ed a place that might be open. "Hey, in another hour and a half, we could go get donuts!" I applaud you, Fluffy Donuts. :O I don't think I've ever actually had a donut here. I usually get the Vietnamese sandwich + Thai tea combo, which is very nicely under $5. On occasion, I've come here to quickly pick something up for lunch/dinner before carting my butt off to campus again for another 10 hours. This is a nice little place to get a quick snack/lunch. You can tell that it's family owned and you can't help but be nice since they're nice. I remember a little kid was cleaning and helping out which added to the family atmosphere. I don't know if they still have it, but there was a milk tea and sandwich deal which was pretty cheap and tasty. I'd suggest getting this if you come here. I think that the prices are pretty decent in general. I've only been here once but I wouldn't mind going again. I've never had the doughnuts but they must be fluffy according to the name of place. The price was reasonable but it was really nice to sit in here. I could smell the donuts from a block away as I was walking over here. Grabbed a bunch of donuts for "later", but also got myself a large coffee (which actually costs 50 cents to refill), but it was pleasant to sit down and relax, eat some donuts and drink coffee. So I'm not a fan of their Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich) straight up. But, their Thai Tea is AMAZING! The man didn't even skimp on the half and half, that's what I was really happy about. I'm writing this post-midterms because in the midst of a long all-nighter, Fluffy Donuts perked me up! My roommate & I drove over to FD right when it opened for some (sort of) well-deserved croissants & donuts. Right away, the owner greeted us with the warmest smile ever that melted the 56 degree frost on us. I'm not a real donut person and I'll rarely eat donuts, but my roommate wanted to grab breakfast over the weekend and she was craving something sweet. Not many choices in Davis, so we decided to come to Fluffy Donuts & Sandwiches. It's your small average looking donut shop that serves a variety of donuts and some pastry items on the side with a small cafe menu and bottled drinks. The owner is real sweet and the other guy that works here is very kind as well. We ordered a chocolate glazed, french glazed, coconut sprinkle frosted, and a ham+cheese croissant. I only had the french glazed and piece of the ham+cheese croissant and I must say, you yelpers weren't lying when you said the donuts are extra fluffy! The french glazed upon contact with my mouth, literally melted slowly and I loved how it wasn't that sweet. I didn't try any of the other donuts, but the french glazed has made me a semi-fan of donuts now! However, the ham+cheese croissant was nothing special. The ham inside the pastry was rolled up with a soggy piece of white cheese with mayo...yuck! I ate one piece and gave the rest to my roommate who seemed to like it, but being an avid pastry eater, a ham+cheese croissant is not suppose to taste like that! My roommate loved her chocolate glazed and coconut sprinkles. All-in-all, the visit was unexpected but had a total positive outcome. While they still have the classics (highly recommend the apple fritter!) they also have lots of good specials - my son loves the maple bacon donut (salty and sweet!), my daughter loves the pink crinkle (there's a more official name but I can't remember it) or jelly donut, and I will always get the Ube donut with coconut. The BBQ pork is cold. It should be at 140 F or above temp. This is a health violation code also. I'm not risking to get food poisoned. If you notice other Vietnamese sandwich spot you'll notice they have a heating tray for meats such as shredded chicken, BBQ chicken, shredded pork, BBQ pork, etc. This place particularly don't have it. This idiot also called my husband a fool. My husband called him a fool! He said to my husband that he should call the boss. Husband told him call to call his boss and he said to my husband to call. Husband ask for his boss number and that idiot replied back that he's the boss. He didn't wanna refund the money back. So he will be hearing from us real soon with this dispute. Since I'm a casual health freak, the donuts here are out of the question for me. Never tried, never will. However, I tried coming in to pick up a vietnamese sandwich before work. Upon opening it up, it was truly one of the most miserable things I've ever seen. Plain bread, old and cheap deli meat, haphazardly spread chili sauce from the bottle. no cilantro, not much to speak of. The only egregious details would be the sheer difference between the advertised picture of the sandwich and what you actually get, as well as the fact that it cost 5 dollars; yes, this sounds cheap, but you must imagine the pile of misery I opened up that would make this a dealbreaker. I been here four times and they been "Sold Out. Closed Early" for three of the four times I went. I went in on a Monday at 9 am, 11 am on a Saturday and 12 on a Sunday. Their business sign says they close at 5 pm so why not make more donuts until closing or pre-make more. I'd rather go to Pink Dozen near Nugget b/c their donuts taste better, a bit cheaper and has been opened every time I went.
