Maybe. Flushing Meadows is easy to get to, rather cheap (if you don't rent clubs) and open late. But the service is lousy (especially the beverage cart guy), the greens are often not green (they look like sand traps from afar), and the club rental and balls are pricey. Sure, cheap pitchers at the "clubhouse" are great, but the overall experience is just A-OK. Tip: Bring your own clubs and balls! Renting is NOT cheap. $2 per club and $5 for 3 balls. We decided to experiment with the Flushing Meadows Golf Center for miniature golf on Father's Day. The course was fun and challenging without being frustrating. The water was kind of gross because it was stagnant and murky, but as far as inexpensive 18 hole miniature golf courses go, I didn't have anything to complain about. Last tee off is at midnight. This is like the best hidden secret in queens. I actually found out about it when my parents were lost in flushing meadows trying to find an exit. When we passed through the Arthur Ashe stadium and saw the golf sign my curiosity got the best of me. I had to go!!!!!!!!!!! I had my own misconceptions of flushing meadows but when I saw this amazing well maintained mini golf course I was in love!!! There is also a full golf course for all of you golf enthusiasts. This review is for the pict and putt course. It is defenitely a step or two beloe wteh course out at Robert Moses State Park. For one thing it is not too well atken care off, although teh condition of the place was not so abd teh last time I was there. The greens though are good in that they are not flat level liek Robert Moses, but rather sloping, and therefore more challenging. read more

I go here often to practice. The staff is helpful & friendly. Clean course & bathroom. And they make your burgers just the way you want and the sodas are always ice cold and refreshing. It's easy to get to and on the weekend you can park across the street for free. read more

Since I'm not in any way qualified to speak of the "grown-up" course, this review is strictly for the mini-golf. ...Oh mini-golf how I loathe and love thee. Alas! You are so frustrating and yet so amusing. This is a very spare, utilitarian course on which to let out your inner Happy Gilmore. There are no giant castles or clowns or any sort of kitschy, gimmicky obstacles. I guess that could be either good or bad depending on your view. Personally, I prefer my mini-golf with a side of kitsch. But with no other cheap, nearby options Flushing Meadows is just fine as a once a season novelty. Clearly, the designers of the course wanted to use as little space as possible while keeping the players moving. All of the holes are quite close together. There's not really any room (or seating) to hang around if you're waiting for people in front of you. That hasn't been a problem in my visits because I make an effort to go at off times. Given the layout, I imagine the greens would get very backed up and unpleasant when busy. I can't honestly say whether the course is at all "challenging" for more experienced players. The holes aren't that interesting nor very different from each other. However, I can say it was tough enough for me that I had some club swinging mini tantrums a la Happy G. The deets? Located on the northernmost edge of the park, near the tennis center. If you're coming from the #7 (Willets Pt. stop / Roosevelt avenue park entrance), the Golf Center is on your left when you reach the end of the bridge and ramp. Parking is free, but somewhat hidden and limited. Last tee is midnight during the summer. They close at dusk in the off-season. All in all, a relatively inexpensive and entertaining way to enjoy some outdoor time with loved ones. read more

This is probably my favorite golf course in NYC. Yea, its just a pitch n putt, but isn't that really the most important part of the game any way? The greens are usually in solid shape, and the holes are unique and fun. It challenges the good players, yet allows beginners to make a par once in awhile. Let me start off that you need only a pitch & putter. Also is not cheap that's expensive to play here for the 18 hundreds and everything about 80 yr I don't know what's up with the employees here they're not too friendly with the customers..... one thing to keep in mind they don't give refunds or rain check into the first hole rain came down we waited for a little bit then just continue the game in the pouring rain. If you can avoid don't paying in cash only credit card you not happy with the services you can dispute with credit card company. read more

The mini golf course is abandoned. There are some teenaged guys in the club hut making a great summer for themselves, but you're not invited. Every hole either allows for you to hit the ball into scrubby dirt or into the central water feature, which was mercifully turned off the night we played. (Turned off, not empty- my friend still got a nice gob of Flushing Meadows on her while retrieving a ball.) Seems like it wouldn't take much to build a nice, indoor mini putt, but this is sad. read more

Mini golf course is simple in terms of decor but holes are challenging and fun. Water hazards happen so often they have nets to fish out your balls Pitch and putt is a good place to work on short game. No hole longer than 80 yards. Been going to the pitch & putt course for a few years now. I pretty much suck & this is the only place I've ever done any kind of golfing whatsoever, but I really like coming here. I love coming out swinging the club around & concentrating on this awesome activity. It's relaxing, challenging & lots of fun. I've even introduced the game to a couple of friends who also really enjoyed it. I always thought the course was quite well mentained, but I just played a week ago after not going for a year & they really hooked it up now. The course has gotten a lot more attention from the groundskeepers & a couple of holes that had a few issues have been fixed. Its about 15 bucks for the green fee, $1 each (I think) for the 2 clubs & $5 for 3 golf balls. If you ever wanted to try golfing, this par 3 course is FANTASTIC! read more

This place is great! It's a small pitch n' putt par 3 course IN NYC!!!! They maintain the grounds very well and the staff is very friendly. You can take advantage of tee times as late as 11pm for some golf under the lights. It's the only place I've found that stays open year round. Even if there's snow, they have a heated blower so they can still open! There is a concession stand with snacks, some fried food and beverages (including a limited beer selection). Reasonably priced at just under $20 for a round, you really can't beat this in NYC! read more

I'm certainly not an expert golfer, or even an amateur one at that - but the Pitch and Putt here is one of my favorite activities in the City. The course is open late, even on weekdays, so that you can continue to play all 18 holes under the lights. The commute is relatively easy, just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the 7 train. The mini golf course is pretty standard but nothing out of the ordinary. It definitely gets the job done but you're not going to wowed by the course itself. There are a couple nice waterfalls but course doesn't have a ton of obstacles to go through. It's $9 for admission and rental of your putt and golf ball. Overall, I would like to say it is a good place. Good for beginner to practice & good for professionals who wants challenge as well. The staff is helpful & friendly. But it is often crowded in the afternoon! A lot of beginners that play very very slowly. Avoid that time and go in the morning or late night you will have a lot more fun. read more

I have been playing the Pitch 'n Putt course @ FMGC for more than a decade. It is a perfect fit for me since I don't have very much strength/power in my arms to hit the ball very far. At this course I am able to swing away with full force and not be concerned about hitting it too far. I am able to reach the green consistantly and find the slopes of many of the greens challenging, especially the 13th hole. My biggest complaint is that smoking is prevalent on the course, especially by the patio area or the so called "beer garden" as other reviewers have referred to the area. Some of the concession personnel smoke, so that gives many of the players the wrong signal. I noticed that at the top of the Yelp listing for this course, there is mention that smoking is permitted at the patio area. This indication needs to be updated to state no smoking is allowed. By NYC law, as of May 23, 2011, smoking is not permitted in any NYC park, beach or pedestrian plaza. The course used to be maintained in much better shape than it is currently. As previous reviewers mentioned, many of the greens have more sand than grass. And thanks to the US Tennis Association, the original park area used for the 2nd hole was permanently usurped for the two week use of the US Open. What was left there is a joke and not in the character of the other 17 holes. You need to allow at least two hours to finish the 18 holes. Often there is a backlog of players on the course, so the benches provided at just about every tee area comes in handy in case you have to wait. read more

I used to play this course thirty five years ago. It was a pleasure to play. Now however, the golf course has seen better days. It is not kept up very well. The drainage is awful. The course should be closed after a heavy because it,s impossible to play without getting wet and muddy. The course, also has cameras throughout and during the off season the owner spies at the players and staff from his apartment in Florida. I don,t like the fact that this is a cash only business. Place is a dump. me and the wife had our usual Tuesday date night and wow this place was horrible. How do you mess up an American classic (mini golf). first the entrance is hard to find, parking is extremely far , then when we finally walked over no one even bothered with us, there were 4 young dudes watching some movie on a TV in the back of the shack, they made me feel like the asshole for interrupting their movie. They gave us two clubs and two balls and walked away. i had to call him back and ask if we can purchase a drink, i paid 6 bucks for a Gatorade and a can of ginger ale. Then we walk over to the little course and there is next to no lighting so you cant see anything, Then the course is really dingy, they have a little pond, holy shit let me tell you i was positive the swamp thing was going to come out of it, it is EXTREMELY dirty and swarming with mosquitos. Perfect haven for west nile virus. No cool courses like classic mini golf , honestly dont waste your time or money read more

Decided to head over early on a Saturday for some pitch and putt with some friends. We have little to no golf experience, so this was a way to get into it. Course is fine with a good variety of traps and different distances. Didn't have any issue with the speed of the group ahead of us, and we didn't have anyone waiting long behind us. Worst customer service ever. I went to the Flushing Meadows Golf Center for the first time, arriving early in the morning. I played the 18 hole par three course, which I didn't have a problems with - it was in ok condition and since I went early on a weekday, there were not many people on the course. Once I finished, I wanted to work on my putting, so I asked a couple of the guys at the counter where the practice green was. A young guy - short Asian fellow - at the snack bar said I had to pay to play. I told him I already paid and I already played, and that I just wanted to practice my putting. He said he didn't know what I was talking about. Then couple of older gentlemen who were about to start the course pointed down a path and said the practice green used to over there. I started walking, making it about 30 feet before I started hearing yelling. I looked around and the old guy who I had paid when I arrived waved at me to come to the counter. I started walking and the little guy from the snack bar comes running at me, yelling, 'What do you think you're doing?!? Where do you think you're going?!?!" He reaches me, with his hands out wide and his chest puffed out like he's going to hit me. I told him to take it easy, I was just going to the practice green, like I had said. That set him off and he started yelling at me again, saying I had to pay, and that there was no practice green. Once again, I told him I was a paying customer, and that he shouldn't be yelling at me. He threw some more verbal abuse at me and then walked back to his snack stand job, arms still out wide and chest puffed out. Then the old guy at the counter waves me over again. Once again, I have to explain that I already paid, and that I just wanted to work on my putting. He asked for my receipt (which was in my coat that I had put in my bag, so I could not find it right away), and then told me they used to have a practice green, but it was now being used as a regular playing green. I told him I was upset at having been yelled at by the snack bar guy, and he said the guy was just doing his job. I found my receipt and put it on the counter. He told me to make sure keep my receipt handy next time. I told him there would never be a next time. For anyone thinking of going to work on their game at Flushing Meadows, be prepared to have to physically defend yourself, and to take some verbal abuse from the little man at the snack counter. And don't expect anyone else working there to care. This is truly a shame, given the lack of decent practice spaces in the city. read more

i have been playing the pitch and putt each week for the several past weeks and it is great i am a 7 handicap and its great practice hitting 50-80 yard shots the condition is excellent and the pace of play is about 2 hours well lit and just a lot of fun playing at night under the lights i recommend it for golfers of all levels its a blast jeffrey appell read more
