Beautiful, funny and smooth flight with Brandy and Eric with Bo from Bend in training. Early season trip provided a bonus as we were able to see the team do training take offs and landings at the glacier. Highly recommend Healy departures as you spend more time flying over Denali national park. Also they provide boots you put on over your shoes for the glacier. And shout out to Kimberly the best driver in the world. She picked us up from our hotel and drove us to the tarmac. Overall, wonderful experience as our pilot was very knowledgeable of the landscape and gives great history/information of the mountains/glaciers. We got lucky and went on a clear day with wonderful views. Once we land, we were able to walk around the designated area and take photos. Our pilot is very friendly and took lots of photos of us. However, I wish they were able to give more introduction and attend to us before the flight. Upon arrival, the staff told us to sign in and no more conversation. We arrived 30 minutes and honestly, just standing around until the pilot came up to us when we were ready to fly. It was a very memorable experience but honestly, I think it is too expensive and wish it was at least $100 less. read more

A party of 4 us flew out today for Glacier landing for $699 dollars..plus tips, it was more than $3000 for 4 people. We only flew up to 3,000 for and were only around the boundaries of the state park and national park...didn't even really see any high mountains. We understand that weather is very hard to predict, but we as customer are not exporters of the weather or driving a plane. The pilot did a good job and he tried his best to land, but we feel like we should have been informed and more transparent about the weather before we took off. We didn't even feel safe in the plane due to huge turbulence. We got a $50 refund for no glacier landing, so we basically spent $650+tips to flew an air taxi for two hours and all they could tell us about the trip was two hours and we flew and "did our job". If nothing can be guaranteed, there is should be a more definite lines between the refunds, not just glacier landing. Our original trip was booked through K2, which is cheaper because it closer to Denali. But they still had many routers and different prices offered for going up to different heights. Fly Denali said K2 will just cancel if they can't fly their pre determined routes...but we would rather cancel than just taking a stab with a $699 trip. Trying to be reasonable here and want to cover the fuel and labor, but $50 is not acceptable. On top, we were flying through the clouds and didn't feel safe. We didn't flew around any mountains and the glacier...just look at the photos read more

We did an afternoon Glacier landing in June this year. Our pilot, Dan, explained how the weather changes on a dime, and even during the flight, he is deciding which glacier to land on, if we can land at all, and which path to take. We never did see Denali, the actual mountain, because it was covered in clouds, but it didn't matter at all. It was so gorgeous up there! There's a grandeur that can't be captured in photos. This was a must-do on our list, and we're lucky we were able to! The one person in the back felt a little queasy - teenagers were queasier than the adults. Next time they will take Dramamine. I'd go with Fly Denali again - highly recommended. The pickup from our hotel was easy; so was drop-off. You can tell the pilot was passionate about sharing this beautiful land, and sharing that joy was infectious. read more

They are the best. They explain why there is turbulence, about Denali park and how it became a park. Then they take you within 5 miles of Denali ( north face). They explain the glaciers and know the names of them. We didn't get to land on a glacier but I appreciate the safety of not landing due to weather. They were the best! Can't put a price on the views from above. However should've come with a motion sickness warning label, I have never been motion sick but the small plane bumping through the mountain passes... had my husband and I both incredibly queasy. We had a great time when we did finally get up in the air. The view was worth every penny and a trip to remember. Our guide Andrew was great and chatted almost the whole time, had the radio on so we could hear the air traffic chatter too. He dipped the wings both directions so people on both sides could see the views. He also pointed out the climbers and base on Denali that was really cool to see! It really put the mountain to scale. Andrew also took us to see the real bus from the true story movie Into The Wild. He never made me feel nervous in the plane and did a great job! We booked with Fly Denali after another service cancelled on us. We heard from other visitors that Fly Denali rescheduled them (they wanted the morning trip and they were moved to evening) so be aware that they only fly with a majority full of passengers. We had 6 people and waited over 20 minutes in the parking lot for 1 more person that never showed. It was annoying to have our experience start with bus fumes. read more

We flew yesterday on their Glacier Landing Excursion. As one of two fixed wing options offered by our Celebrity Cruise tour company, we bit the bullet and EACH paid $250 more to land on the glacier. Well, we didn't land on the glacier due to weather and were only offered a $50 refund on our $649 fare. SAVE YOURSELF SOME $$ - book a straight flight seeing excursion for $400!!! Booking through Celebrity did not give us any leverage at all. Comparing notes with the others who took the flight-seeing only tour, their plane was more comfy and they saw more (including the camp where the hikers base). read more

Very disappointed. No glacier landing and the route was very bumpy and to some extent...unsafe. We took a long distance driving from Talkeenta in order to be able to fly with glacier landing. Before we book the experiences, we were told glacier landing was "very likely" but the representatives were very vague about the routes. We ended up only flying outside the borderline for the state park and NOT even in the national park zone. The ride was very bumpy and we only took a glimpse about a grey glacier WITHOUT even getting close to the true Summit and glacier. We were very very disappointed and wanted to get a 50% refund since the route was not even close to the original route that was promised to us. We understand the weather is out of control but you can't let customers take all the risks and were told "oh you are just not lucky enough". Any Air line could get slam dunk top reviews when the weather is good as Mt. McKinley sells itself and is so impressive all on it's on. Fly Denali fails miserably at being honest about their refund and over priced service when the weather is bad. They are to desperate to make the money and snub the lower percentage victims of bad weather. They are just not an air line with any Integrity. There should be a fairer and more open response on weather instead of coldness when they know your not happy with their lack of adjustment for the poor experience. Bad weather should be equally shared with the airline and passenger which it is not. I have talked extensively with Talkeetna Air and also Travel Tours sense the experience and Ill will choose Talkeetna Air from now own they are fairer priced and more open and willing to talk honestly about the give and take on weather factor in the tour.. read more

An AMAZING experience!! We lucked out on the weather. Mt. McKinley (Denali) is so high it creates its own weather, and most of the time it is hidden in the clouds. The time we booked our appointment (11am), McKinley had partially cleared and we got the OK to take off. Before takeoff, Fly Denali checked everyone's weight to properly balance out the plane by assigning seats by weight. My weight put me right next to the plane door. The flight goes over Denali National Park, allowing you an unparallel view of the park. Once you make it to McKinley, there is no way you can not see the mountain and be awestruck. McKinley is huge, spectacular, and makes you feel very insignificant. I'm in awe of the people who have summited McKinley. You might be lucky and see a team of mountain climbers going up the side! If you do one thing in Alaska, make sure you book a flight with Fly Denali!! read more

Our pilot was great. We were supposed to do a glacier landing but it was socked in. In fact they canceled our flight the previous day since the am flights couldn't land. Since we had the AM flight the next day, they don't know if they can land until they get to the area. So really we were lucky to go on that flight. If we would have been on the PM flights they probably would have cancelled us and we would not have been able to see the spectacular view. Instead we toured the valley and were up close and personal with Mt. Denali. The mountain is spectacular. Plane was comfortable. Each person had a headset and views out the window were great. Even without the landing I wouldn't miss this adventure. read more

My party of 4 drove 3 hours from Fairbanks, gliding on ice, dangerous drive, to make it for our reservation. We originally booked a 6p fly in hopes of seeing the sunset, but was switched to an earlier flight only for it to be canceled WHEN WE ARRIVED due to weather. No communication at all from staff, and no refund or reply from email regarding refund even though we were told we'd receive 100% refund on 9/25 since fly was canceled due to weather. I'm now disputing charges with my bank. The pilot and staff were on site and they knew we couldn't fly before we arrived, and we wouldn't want to fly in unsafe conditions, but they didn't call to give us any info. Even if they got the info an hour before we arrived they should have called to save us the trip. They drove from Fairbanks like us, and knew what type of road conditions we suffered to get there. One lady even had the nerve to offer us a later flight without glacier landing, for 3 out of 4 of us!! We're a party of 4, why would we leave one behind? Why wouldn't they call the folks in the later reservation and reschedule with them since they were still home instead of canceling with us and we were on site? TERRIBLE SERVICE AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

I flew with Fly Denali last week - and specifically with Trent. For me, this was the top magical moment of our trip to Alaska. Although cloud cover was too heavy to make a glacier landing, the view above the cloud layer was fantastic. I'm so excited to start going through all the pictures I took, but of course the live experience was magical. But what made it truly special was the pilot and his attention to our needs. WOW! What an experience! I was nervous and scared, but sooo happy I conquered my fear and took this flight. Our pilot was Jordan and he was AMAZING. He talked us through the whole flight with an incredible fact-filled tour of historical and scientific points. The views were amazing and the headphones we wore blocked out some of the airplane noises which made me feel calmer. He also played amazing music on the way back. I felt safe the whole time because Jordan was such a phenomenal pilot. He knew exactly what he was doing at all times and kept us informed. There will be some bumps as the wind pushes the plane around, but having Jordan tell us when they were going to happen was sooo comforting. I couldn't have appreciated him more. We were very lucky as we got to land on a glacier too. It was a stunning experience! I have never, ever done anything that cool in my life. So happy I took their tour. Super smooth take off and landing. They even picked us up from our hotel and made everything so easy. Graham drove our shuttle to and from the airport and he was also outstanding.
