I took my 2 year old son for his first haircut with Ricky Bobby. Hair cut looks amazing! Fist bumps, laid back, welcoming, lets your kid know what to expect next. My toddler sat chill the entire time. Ricky Bobby and everyone in the shop welcomed my son and made him feel like one of the guys. He got a snack from the vending machine when he was done as a treat for sitting so patiently. He is one happy, fly-looking tot. I just read some of the reviews on here. Some about it not being kid friendly or welcoming of white people. I couldn't disagree more. I'm a white woman and took my son and daughter with me. Everyone was welcoming, kind, relaxed. It was a wonderful experience. *Side note: the white barbers in town who came up in my searches, won't see anyone under 13. One hipster Barbershop has a sign up that says $200 for your screaming, crying toddler. I'd much rather take my kid to a laid back black barber than at a whiny, emo-hipster place any day. This place is straight booty, it's in a run down strip mall and apparently no one wants to even cut there. They have eight booths and only one guy shows up. So either they would rather cut elsewhere or he has no one to cut there. I am pretty sure he's the owner at this point and it's always a thirty minute to an hour wait with that guy. It was a atmosphere and the barbers welcomed everyone into the shop from the moment they stepped in. There's something there to keep everyone occupied including chess, television, and video games. Additionally, the shop was clean and well-kept. In relation to my haircut, the barber took his time, which told me that he was focused on his performance instead of earning an easy $23. I like my haircut, but I wish the blending was a little better for my afro-taper fade style. However, that's the only "negative" feedback I can give. read more

Blood sweat and tears and a whole lot of long days and especially long nights. The shop looks spectacularly amazing. What i love the most is his vision for the kiddos. He created a space for a learning center to give the kiddos a place to do homework, read a book, play a video game or just hangout with other kiddos while their parent is getting that fly cut. Lloyd has been hooking me up during my visit to SD. I've been having problems growing my hairline back out; Lloyd said no problem, and cut the rest of my hair exactly how I asked while making it look nice to fit the natural line. Came back the next week for a touch-up and he noted how it was looking much better, and again took time to do a really good job. In addition to awesome service, the vibe is right, and the chairs are super relaxing. I recommended a friend to come as well, and Lloyd hooked him up too. I waited until the last minute (day before picture day) to get my son a haircut. Came in to Fly Guyz around 6 PM with no appointment. They were able to get him in right away. He had performed a bit of a hack job on himself with a pair of kitchen scissors, but Yoel was able to get him hooked up and looking fresh with a skin fade. All the barbers were super accommodating of both my kids (Sister came along for the ride) and myself. They set them up with Netflix and Youtube of their choice. Snacks on hand came in handy, also. Kid's room with chalk wall is super cute, great place to wait for those who aren't getting cut. (Although, if I'm being critical, it could use a good clorox wipe down....we all know kids are messy germ monsters.) We felt very welcomed. I had went to another shop and the dude messed me all up. Went to Mo the same day he clean me up plus looked out for me knowing I had just paid for the messed up cut. Been coming here for a month now and that's not going to change. The staff is professional and respectful to all customers. Sam knows how to cut hair, but customer service and professionalism was crap. I went to the website to book a haircut for 10am, I get a text saying if I can book for 10:30am? I say: no problem, as long as I can get out by 12. Because I have work at 1. Sam says no problem. I get there at 10:30, looks like he just sat someone in his seat. Okay? So I should be able to get my haircut by 11 right? No he has to now go pick up his son at 11:15. Ask me if I can't wait. We could of voided this by him telling me he couldn't have me out by 12. Now I'm mad, and as I'm walking of he said some snazzy remark, like my business doesn't matter anyways. Keep in mind, I tip at least 5-10$ each time I go to the Barber.
