We had a good lunch here. The place is easy to find at the corner of a shopping center. There's plenty of parking in the lot outside. Inside, the place is open and airy. You order and pay at the counter. They call your receipt number when your food is ready. Fountain drinks are self serve. My husband got their two tenders combo. It came with large chicken breast tenders in a light batter, seasoned crinkle cut fries, pickle slices, and a small container of Dave's sauce. Oh and a slice of white bread. I ordered their bites -- just the chicken. It's ten pieces of smaller sized chicken breast pieces in the same light batter. They gave me fries anyway. I know it's called Dave's HOT chicken, but we both ordered our chicken without any spice. You can really tell how good a meal is when it's not over done. And the quality and taste of this chicken shone through. They have 6 levels of heat from which to choose. I might try their lite mild or mild next time, but even without any heat, the chicken we had was flavorful. I tried to order extra hot but after the cashier gave me a worried face I stuck with just hot. glad I did! Sandwich has pickles and shockingly a kale and purple cabbage mix on it. Came here to see what all the hype was about. The line was fairly long and the people waiting to get their food was even longer! I am not holding that against them! As a new restaurant comes to town I'm glad to see the community out to show its support! My wife got the no spice and I got the medium spice. Both my wife and I thought our food was a bit bland. It was moderately crispy and moderately juicy as well. It's not a bad sandwich but it wasn't over the top either! This location is easily seen from Congress Rd. in Boynton. I stopped in after a little retail therapy in the plaza to get a quick lunch. The restaurant wasn't too busy but does a good take out business. I had planned to eat inside so I ordered at the counter. Though I wish they had more options on the menu, I went with the two tender special that included one side. I went with their Kale Slaw which was very good and it was soothing to my mouth from the Hot level of spice that I ordered for my chicken. I also got a complimentary soda by downloading their app and registering eventhough I didn't need to order from the app. The gentleman, Samuel, who was behind the counter was super helpful and patient with me as this was my first visit. I thought the tenders were very good and not dried out at all. They were fresh cooked and seasoned in a spicy powder with hot oil and light breading. The vibe inside the restaurant was pretty cool from the decorative walls to the metal seating. There is a turf area out front which would be a great place for the little ones to play or for a small soccer pick up game when the weather is much cooler out. We ordered fairly quickly but it took 25 MINUTES for one slider and two chicken tenders!! That was the main reason I took one star off. The workers were very kind and accommodating. Dave's Hot Chicken in Boynton Beach is definitely a great spot to check out if you're craving some delicious meaty Chicken Tenders. They have a variety of heat levels from No Spice all the way to Reaper which you have to agree to a Waiver and Release to order. The house fries are seasoned perfectly and had a nice crisp. I also enjoyed the Coleslaw that is topped on the slider with crunchy pickles. There was a line out the door because this is definitely a hotspot in Boynton. We only waited 15 minutes before we were able to order and our food came out quickly and ready to eat. Friends of mine have been saying to try it for a while because they live in Orlando and central Florida seemed to get the locations first. I got excited when I heard they were opening a location this week and today was their soft opening. I will preface with I LOVE spicy food. The spiciest of Thai, Szechuan, and Indian is usually my go to. When I heard they had a "Reaper" sauce that needed a waiver signed to eat it, I knew I had to give it a shot. Ok onto the review and I'll keep it shorter since you've read this far: Interior design and ambiance: 4/5 stars. -the inside is bright and colorful and screams urban chic, trendy, and graffiti. It has outside and inside seating and free refills on soft drinks. The two bathrooms are unisex and clean (even though it is still their first day open). The main downside to the inside is it is very loud and sound bounces everywhere due to the polished concrete floor. (Think cafeteria). Team members and service: 5/5 The team was super nice, read a script after they asked if it was our first time, and was very polite when it came to handing us the order. Food was quality and flavor: 4/5 So we tried multiple items on the menu to give us a good sampling of what they had to offer. First: chicken tenders (their main attraction) They were large and tender, they were juicy and crispy, and fresh. Crispier than canes and closer to the size of Publix tenders. They have a scale of spiciness/heat going from. No spice, lite mild, mild, medium, hot, extra hot, and reaper. I wanted to see how their seasoning was and wanted to try all ends of the spectrum. The pickles were crisp, and the Dave's hot chicken sauce tasted similar to thousand island, which is OK but nothing special. **REAPER**: ok so the moment you've been waiting for. The reaper. Being that I was extremely skeptical about what a fast casual restaurant chain considered spicy enough to make you sign a waiver, I didn't have high hopes. The easiest way to put this is if you have had or heard of the one chip challenge, it tastes just like the seasoning on the chip. One bite, and your senses will be excited, your lips will be numb and burning simultaneously, and your sinuses will clear like free samples at Costco on a Saturday. It is not enjoyable at all but the novelty of it may keep it as a menu item for high school dares for the foreseeable future. Skip this is you want to enjoy very spicy chicken and actually taste it. Ok speed round, Side items: Crinkle fries- great seasoning, crispy, delicious. Mac and cheese- arguably one of the best things they had there. It was seaoned well, moist, and served hot. Perfect. Slice of white bread- standard, soft, what you expect. Hi-C orange lavaburst slush- gosh darn amazing. I was pleasant surprised to see they had this and had to get it while I was there. Milk shakes- machine was down and didn't get to try. Final verdict! I'd give this place a 5 if it was crave worthy and made me want to go back time and time again. It just wasn't that for me. It had a good portion size, the food was hot and fresh, and the place and people were nice. That's reason to give it a four alone. Every time I order takeout here, my order is messed up. Every. Single. Time. To me, the sauce is the best thing ever and what makes the meal. I love that it comes with a sauce to dip on as well as drizzled on it. Not only was it not drizzled on my chicken I didn't get the sauce cup?! Then the second time I ordered from here I ordered EXTRA sauce on side and paid for it. Not only did I not get sauce it included but didn't get the ones I paid for either. I took the kids because they were excited to try out the infamous Dave's Hot Chicken. Here's the good, the girl at the counter taking the orders was super sweet. I'm honestly blown away at how pricey chicken tenders are. It's not a cheap meal and there's no kids options so you have to order accordingly. The chicken tenders are supposed to be huge, that was true for everyone but my plate which I got 2 small tenders and the kids found it hilarious that the adult got the tiniest ones. I ordered mine medium heat and I didn't taste anything, barely seasoned. My oldest daughter got a sandwich medium and hers actually had flavor so I'm 2 for 2 so far on my plate just missing the mark which shows a lack of consistency. We had two orders of cheese fries and they only gave us regular fries so I had to go back, show my receipt, and get the fries covered in cheese. I will say the cheese fries was the better part of the experience. They have no blue cheese or ranch for the chicken so if you like dipping your spicy chicken in that just note they only have their sauce, hot sauce, or ketchup. They give you a plain piece of wonder bread that to me is just sad on the plate, it's not toasted or buttered or anything just a piece of bread that is sitting there. I do like the pickle slices however that are also on the plate. My first time ever trying Dave's Hot Chicken. I've eaten at places very similar to them before but this review is for the food I received not a comparison. As for the ambiance, it's a basic fast food place nothing special but it's was clean. I ordered the 2 slider meal with a mild coating. The fries were great, plenty of them for 1 person in my opinion. The sauce was good and much needed for the chicken which surprisingly did not have much flavor and that includes the breading. I know I only got mild heat but was expecting a little something to it, no zing and barely any flavor which is why I said the sauce was much needed and personally they need to give us bigger sauce cups or just 2 cups at their current size because it is not enough and they know it. The toast was just not good, literally just 2 slices of bread with nothing on them, I would rather take 1 slice or no slices and receive more dipping sauce. As for other reviews complaining about the staff "yelling" out numbers and making it hard to have a conversation when eating in doors, they kinda have to yell out the order numbers because people trying to have conversations are speaking way too loud. Overall for $16 (small tip included) I wasn't impressed which is sad but I will come back and try hotter tenders to see if mild was just bland or if I got unlucky that day. read more
