We stumbled upon this local spot after finding out that we were in St Croix during off season and…read moremost places shut down for weeks at a time for maintenance. It was our first night on the island and we were just looking for some good grub and a place to hang for the night. Luckily, this local joint was still open! Though the experience driving to the location felt kind of sketchy (junk yard right outside, some homes looked abandoned around the neighborhood, parking was on a grass patch with a fancy porta-potty behind it, just one guy hanging out in front of a what looked like a trailer converted into a kitchen), this was either going to be disaster OR bleeping delicious. We were directed to order inside the bar and not outside by the trailer... we said cool and made our way in. Remember when I said sketchy? Well... now picture walking up creeky steps, opening the door, to find a stripper pole in the middle of the room, a pool table to the right, and a bar in the far back right corner with an empty dance floor. The bar was full though and the food smelled delicious outside so I turned a blind eye to everything else and took a chance... not expecting much, we ordered some take out food and then sat and waited for it with a couple drinks. To our surprise, this place was so very legit, to say the very least. We got the salmon crispy bites and bbq chicken wings entrees, both with a side of rice&beans, mac and cheese, and salad. The portion sizes were ridiculous for the price, the fish was so fresh we questioned if it was actually fish, the chicken wings were so crispy even though they were smothered in delectable bbq sauce, and we had enough rice and beans to feed a small army. The bartenders were soooo sweet. The girl took her time and explained to us how things on the island worked and suggested some food and activities after serving us up a drink called "Cruzan Confusion." Well, that drink became the one drink I drank the rest of my trip there! Deliciousness in a cup that can certainly get you confused quite quickly if you don't consume with caution! LOL. Overall, food was 10000000% yes, atmosphere could be less chaotic but it seems like that's how the island operates, service was wonderfully exceptional as well. One star was knocked purely because of the beginning atmosphere... which certainly changed when we gave it a chance. Definitely give this place a try!

The drinks took over 45 min & a guest from my table had to go get them from the bar himself. The server did not come back to get the rest of the tables food order until 651pm & that's because we had to get her attention. The 1st order of food was brought out at 705pm. There are other tables getting food & drinks faster. The 2nd half of the groups food came out at 745pm. Server never came back to check on us or give us the check. We had to go up to the bar to pay out. 2yrs ago we came here and experienced the same service and food quality. My family likes the taco Tuesday specials but we have yet to have a good experience here. I can assume the tacose were okay but nothing to write home about. The wings & tots were good.

"Would you like cheese on your cheeseburger?" "Yes please, I would like cheese on my cheeseburger." As you might have guessed it came without cheese. It was also overcooked, dry, and came on a dry bun. The pickles, mustard, and mayo (but no cheese) are at the condiment bar on the other side of the restaurant. Staff is running around. The problem seems more like disorganization than disinterest. They are polite but not efficient. Otherwise, lots of TVs. Also, lots of children. A few patrons appearing to be in late teens (legal alcohol consumption age in USVI is 18) who may have been over-served. Good for watching NFL on Sundays. 5 pool tables and a foosball table.

Ok, so I'm now only writing five star reviews because the world is so dark already. A mediocre or…read morebad restaurant doesn't need to be called out, it will die a natural death. A top notch restaurant deserves to have people know about it because it will support excellence. Dear friends (shout out to Jan & Tom) suggested this place years ago and it wasn't until this year we heard and went. It's a Local's place and my Dad ALWAYS said to "eat where the local's eat-they know good food!" El Sol is such a pleasure to go to. We have dined in the air conditioned dining room enough times that we have "our table". Today we picked up "to go" and Natalie greets with a smile and rings you up-always patient and happy to see you. All the staff there have been a pleasure to work with. Most of the food is on array behind a glass wall when you enter the to go section in front of the restaurant. It's all clean and the staff (from what I have seen) support each other to take care of you. When the parking lot gets full-you can park across the street. Photos of the dinner we picked up are below and a picture says a thousand words. We bought this dinner (and a few other items that don't photograph well) for under $60 plus tip. There are not many places that can feed four a terrific dinner for that amount of $'s!! Everything is not for everyone-this has been our experience and we hope it is yours. Please let me know if it is so I know if I'm on the right track. Thanks! PS make a dip out of good olive oil, balsamic vinegar, herbs of your choice, salt and pepper as a dipping sauce for the Johnny cakes-Rip and Dip!

It was the place to grab a plate of food before heading into shift work. El Sol Bar & Restaurant is a what many locals refer to as a "Santo Bar" or establishment run by Dominicanas (ex-pats from the island of Santo Domingo). This gem is located off the beaten path to most and I would never expect a tourist or visitor to find it on their own. Quickest way to it is to travel EAST, past Sunny Isles on Centerline Road. When you the Sion Farm Traffic Light, make a RIGHT and drive SOUTH. Look for it on your LEFT on the side of the road. El Sol has parking lots on either side of it & also street parking (if it gets that crowded). There are 3 sections to this establishment: * There is an exterior walk-up order area where you can see the food available for the day in the windows. You then point to what you want and they bring it to the cashier for you to pay. * Alternatively, there's also an interior bar where you can order drinks and food as well. A music jukebox and TVs keep you company while you wait for your orders. * Lastly, there's an interior seating area that is spacious and good for groups. Because it is isolated by a door, it makes for more private dining. El Sol has an extensive menu and it is comprised of pork, beef, chicken, fish, conch, many starches & provisions and a few veggies. I recommend their chicharrones (fried chicken), stew fish, porter house steak, their conch and fish. Please keep in mind the times that you visit while ordering food. Sometimes you may find one of their food options in a tray almost empty. When this happens, ask them if they are going to refill it and how long that may take. This will give you an opportunity for the freshest food selection. If you're in a rush, I recommend Calling-In your order ahead of time to confirm order availability. Overall, I recommend El Sol Bar & Restaurant and Ive enjoyed eating here over the years. I've been a patron for many years and years to come.

We're heading to Beach Side Cafe! Located right on the waterfront, this place has some of the most spectacular views of the ocean that I've ever seen in my life. I mean, come on! We're in the Caribbean. You would expect an absolutely amazing view, and this place delivers! Of course, you can't really have a good meal without some sort of rum drink.. and they have got you covered no matter what you want. They have a good diverse menu of drinks, the staff is super friendly and willing to help you out to decide what poison you want to try, and everything hits on all cylinders. For food, I went with the Smashburger which was huge. Now I've had a lot of smashburgers in the day but this was a lot of meat. The double patties were thicker than a normal Smashburger so it was like the equivalent of four smashburgers in one. Cook to perfection, andiIt comes with fries, but I upgraded to the Caesar salad for a couple bucks more. Let me tell you sometimes you got to be healthy and this Caesar salad made me feel like I was doing my part. We were fortunate enough to be there when the sunset, take a look at the pictures and you'll see what I mean. Mean. Food almost got cold while I was standing there gawking at the beauty and Majesty of the sunset here in the Virgin Islands. You would be hard-pressed to find a better place to dine and watch the landscape. Bottom line? How could you not go back here again? The food was great, the staff was friendly and amazing, the drinks were on point, and you couldn't get a better location. Run, don't walk to this place!
