    Biscuits and gravy

We visited here on a Thursday morning and had a small wait. The place was packed as there was only inside seating due to the rain outside. Our server was so kind as this was our first time here. She gave us lots of info as there were many options on the menu. All our food was so tasty. The biscuits were some of the best I've ever had; light, fluffy and fresh! Add some gravy and that meal was so delicious!! The hangover breakfast was so perfect and so much food that it was almost impossible to finish. The hot honey butter chicken n waffles spice was perfectly absorbed into the chicken tenders, each bite was absolutely flavorful. With all these wonderful breakfast choices, it was hard for the basic egg and sausage breakfast to score the same points, but the biscuit and grits that come with each plate really elevated this meal. If we drive through Athens again, this will definitely be a must stop location.

Excelente servicio y delicioso comida se los recomiendo al igual que sus cafés muy ricos

    Famous Flying Biscuit Breakfast

So I had seen a few of these and decided to stop in they talk a huge game about their biscuits and even named the restaurant after their fluffy, airy, wonderful biscuits. Curiously I ordered the flying biscuit breakfast, 1 biscuit, 2 eggs, sausage, and creamy dreamy grits. Now being from the south I know a Pillsbury frozen biscuit when I see and taste one, these are 10000% frozen biscuits.... Forgivable in most situations but when they're hyped up this much it was a let down, dense and frozen tasting. Eggs were cooked perfect, the sausage might as well been beef jerky. Not sure how you make breakfast sausage tough like a bad sirloin but they managed. The grits....... Are the only reason this is going from 2 to 3 stars, the grits were as described, creamy and dreamy.

    The high ceiling interior

As I was writing this review I came across my own brother's review earlier this year, in which he accused Flying Biscuit of "suffering from a sense of self-importance" for a comparatively low "price-to-taste-ratio" (whatever that means). After coming here five months later, I can assure readers that either 1) he got the priciest thing on the menu or 2) Flying Biscuit lowered their prices. Flying Biscuit's prices were on par with J-Christophers or Big City Bread Company, but were leaps and bounds ahead in both quantity and quality. The French Toast my boyfriend got was genuinely some of (if not the) best French Toast I've ever had in Athens, while my pancake tacos were a delightful and exceptionally tasty spin on a traditional pancake and eggs breakfast. The interior was cute, the service was prompt, and the food tasted great. No doubt, Flying Biscuit Athens excels in the "price-to-taste-ratio."

Wife and I stopped in for a late morning bite to eat and thoroughly enjoyed the servings we had. Had the Chorizo Hash and my wife enjoyed her Honey Butter Chicken Benedict. Service was quick and with a smile. Next time we're in town, we'd definitely stop in again.

    Mini Shrimp and Grits

The mini shrimp and grits are AMAZING! It was the right portion, extremely flavorful, and came out nice and hot. The price is very reasonable for the recipe along with a biscuit. I also ordered decaf coffee and they made it easy to distinguish between it and regular by using a different colored mug. This is great service because I can't have too much caffeine. This is my favorite dish here, so don't hesitate to try it.

honey chicken and waffles and avacado toast

I came on a Saturday and ordered their honey chicken and waffles with a side of avocado toast. The waffles and chicken were good, the chicken was a little chewy but that's if i'm being nitpicky. The avacado toast was good as well and was served on rye bread. If you're not a fan of tomatoes I wouldn't recommend the avacado toast. I came with my boyfriend and we both ordered a main and a side dish and our bill was barely $30 so the pricing is really nice as well! My food came out quick and the service was nice! The inside of the restaurant is really nicely decorated with many vibrant colors.

It had been a couple of years since my last visit, and while they've switched to counter service now, the service was still fast and friendly. They got a table ready for a party of 6 pretty quickly which was great! They have two dining areas inside and outside seating available. I ordered the peach french toast with potatoes, another person ordered the cinnamon roll to start and the a biscuit with gravy. My husband ordered the pulled pork bowl on grits and a side of fried chicken . The kids had french toast with fruit. My potatoes I can tell were from a bag and not fresh cut potatoes. They were tiny and probably what you can purchase at the grocery store, so they were crunch and hard to eat. The french toast didn't have the best taste, and the peaches seemed canned. Presentation was nice but I wouldn't order that again. My husband did not enjoy his pulled pork bowl either, he said it lacked a bit of flavor. The cinnamon roll was a little hard like it had been sitting for a bit. Now for the good, the fried chicken was some of the best chicken I had tasted so whatever is being done there keep it up! The biscuits with the jam available on the table were amazing! The kids enjoyed their kids meal as well. If in Athens again we would definitely get the chicken and biscuit but skip the other items we previously ordered.

Nah, these "little pitchers" are paloma-like Jalicesense cocktails served in little clay cups called "cantaritos." Regrettably, I've never tried one. Anyway, in a town that (IMO) has been going downhill for a while when it comes to dining, the modest pan-Latin Cantaritos Cafe is one of the better restaurants to open in Athens post-COVID. In my experience, they've done a great job with everything: breakfast burrito, a Venezuelan (I think?) breakfast sandwich of some sort, massive heavy (a little too heavy, maybe) arepas, all terrific. The menu is huge. Prices have been reasonable, but it's been a few months since I was there. P.S. The review preceding mine by two chronologically is a disgrace: "I love this place," but one star because a single employee on a single occasion didn't adequately kiss her pinkie ring? Went in and lady just looks at me. I said, "I just want to get coffee." She said, "dont open until 7:30." I said well, you just lost business and shouldn't have your open sign (on the side of the building to draw in traffic) on or door unlocked. I don't understand business' mentality anymore. If I owned a business that served coffee in the mornings and someone came in 15-20 min before we opened because I had my sign on and door unlocked, I would say, "it may take a few extra minutes because we aren't open yet, but what can I get you?" Thats how you keep happy customers. Instead, you turned me away losing that sale, gaining this review, AND I will reconsider next time I decide I may want to eat your food, and just go somewhere else, also this review could affect others coming there, so affecting future sales. If the lights weren't all on, open sign wasn't on, I wouldn't have come in to have this experience. Business', YOU MUST DO BETTER!!! News flash! There are tons of you for us to choose from. We don't have to eat or drink at your restaurant.
