As a vegetarian I was not expecting to have a very good experience at a steakhouse like Open Range…read more I was invited to Open Range as part of a group dinner and decided to go when I saw it had some vegetarian options. I ordered the Mixed Green Salad which was good and did not have too much vinaigrette. I also ordered Sauteed Vegetables, which turned out to be broccolini and asparagus, Madeira Glazed Mushrooms, and Crispy Brussel Sprouts, which turned out not to be vegetarian because I didn't notice the last ingredient was pancetta. All the sides were excellent, especially the Brussel Sprouts which many people were complimenting. My son ordered the Dry Aged American Wagyu NY 14 oz. He wanted to order medium rare but the server suggested getting medium because he said the medium rare is very close to rare. However, the medium turned out to be closer to medium-well done. Still, my son very much liked the flavor of the steak though the sear wasn't that good. We also tried the Truffle Fries, which I couldn't stop eating. The person who ordered the Truffle fries said his Steak Frites weren't that good because they were a little overcooked and he thought the cut they used was probably a cheaper one. I thought the service was excellent and very friendly. The restaurant itself is very nice looking and appealing. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dining experience.

The mixed salad was nothing special - hastily put together and the salad looks. Their crab cake was delicious. This was definitely a good spot to enjoy the warm hospitality of a great Montana like atmosphere.

The atmosphere was great and made you feel transported to a different time. Parking is pretty easy but it's about a 2-3 minute walk up to the restaurant Food- 5 stars wild mushrooms- this is a must-order. Incredibly tasty and on the heavier side Elk meatball- pretty good, but I enjoyed their mains more Smoked trout dip- pretty good, but I enjoyed their mains more bison short rib- incredibly tender and very flavorful. The more lean profile of the bison really showed out, and made me appreciate how much tastier bison is compared to beef Wapiti chops- incredibly tender and very flavorful, without being too gamey or fatty Elk and porcini ravioli- really good as well panzanella- balanced and fresh. very well done Service and atmosphere- 5 stars Food came out quickly and the servers and bartenders were really attentive. The cabin feel, the lighting, and all the taxidermy on the walls. I truly felt transported to what Montana is pictured to be. Incredible experience if you're around the area Bottom Line Excellent steakhouse at the Lone Mountain Ranch. The quintessential place to get the Montana experience

Wanted to give some local meat a try and cook it on my own during the visit. Daniel's gourmet meats provided amazing fresh cuts of meat from bison to elk to beef to other things. There was fresh meat and jerky. The jerky was probably some of the best I've tasted. Came back at the end of my trip to grab a few more bags to take home. The store seemed well stocked and we'll organized so it wasn't overwhelming to navigate, which can be a problem for smaller stores when everything can be disorganized. Also the staff were really friendly and there were even samples of sausages to try!

Now, we go to Daniel's once a week and pick up ribeyes, porterhouses and ground beef. The prices are basically the same as the big markets, the quality is not even close. Daniel's meats are the best you're going to find anywhere. I still am not a big meat eater, but thanks to Daniel's I eat more beef than before and sure do enjoy the steaks and burgers. Even their chicken is noticeably better than elsewhere, at no more cost. To top it off, the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Unless you have a thing for eating meat that isn't top notch, there's no reason to go anywhere else for your meat (I'm talking everywhere from Whole Foods to Safeway to Rosauer's to T&C to Costco and Winco).
