Horrible service. We were a party of six coming in for lunch on a Tuesday. We had a dog with us and asked if he was allowed. The server very rudely said no. We have a patio, but your dogs not allowed. That's fine as it's the restaurants rules. They could only accommodate us outside anyways. When we asked if they could put the two four tops together the server (older and blonde hair) said no but you can. Please bear in mind we had disabled relative whose mobility issues were very noticeable and had made the walk all the way to the patio. Our party decided that point to leave based on this server's attitude and service received before even ordering. None of this would normally warrant a negative review from me. The behavior by this same server after did. While I went at a slower pace outside with my disabled relative, the server was talking poorly about our party to another table stating they didn't need our business anyways and were fine with us leaving. This conversation continued for a few minutes. That right there is a red flag for any hospitality establishment and speaks poorly of their team and ownership. To be honest, this was probably a blessing in disguise as the food I saw on the few diners they actually had tables looked on par with microwaveable food. If you are thinking of other dining options, do yourself a favor and go with the alternative. read more

To add insult to injury one waitress stated bad mouthing us to other customers as we were leaving. Maybe they don't understand the concept of being in the hospitality industry or manners in general. We were there on a weekday and it seemed like mostly locals...and it was full, which is a great sign, The food was hot, the portions were hearty and a to-go box was needed at the end. Comfortable, laid back, but not cozy. Three forks cafe is a better than average small town diner that caters to locals and tourists. It's easy to tell the difference and the employees act accordingly. With locals regaling each other about the weather, their livestock and hunting expeditions, day-off antics, there's no shortage of entertainment, the kind that makes you put down your phone and enjoy. The food is good in a diner sort of way, filling and served quickly. Nothing strays too far from expectations, except, perhaps for the "entertainment" provided by the banter between the locals and the staff. If listening to that isn't for you, spend some time looking at the decor. It's a history lesson: sometimes tongue-in-cheek and often times a mini museum of your grandparent's treasures. Three Forks cafe is more of a been-there done-that spot for tourists. But, don't discount that feeding tourists seems a side gig for this community gathering location for the locals. Good food, great service, and cozy restaurant First off I want to start by saying I had a really good waitress she was friendly and had great customer service skills. You can tell she was an expert waitress by the way she spoke with some of the other customers in the restaurant. The restaurant had a lot of old timers sitting down at tables that seemed like regulars that come in a lot and the waitress knew their names and what they already wanted to order which I find to be a great sign of a good waitress. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and fries which I really enjoyed. For dessert I had apple pie and a scoop of ice cream which I also enjoyed. We had called before arriving with a large group for breakfast. We were told it was first come first serve with no reservations, which is completely understandable. We arrived just as another group did. They got the table so we decided to walk across the street to the other cafe in town (good choice btw), and as we walked out the waitress said "Now they'll go leave a bad review" and rolled her eyes when I turned around. We had the same waitress before and she had the same attitude. I worked restaurants for a big chunk of my life as an executive chef. I understand how it works. We understood not getting the table. I never send food back or leave bad tips. If I'm unhappy, I just won't go back and I'll tell everyone I know about it... but if we are told to leave a bad review by the server, I will do so. So Three Forks Cafe, why when Iron Horse is across the street with a very nice staff, homemade meals, and a nicer, cleaner environment. read more

Recommended to us by the lady at the museum as "the place the locals go" we were not disappointed. My wife had the BLT which was a 3-decker. She really liked it. I went with their version of a Philly cheese steak. While it had plenty of beef, and necessary peppers, onions, and cheese, the surprise was it came with a cup of au jus. Think of it as a Philly French Dip. Needless to say, while not what you'd find in Philly, it was a great sandwich. Service was very good, and as expected, quite friendly. As to the locals, it certainly was that. Just an old-time cafe in a small western town with great service and tasty food at a reasonable price. read more

Perfect local diner! Just a humble, simple country place with excellent food--a real "watcha want, Hon?" kind of place. Lots of old-timers in flannel shirts and feed lot hats discussing who got a new walker, Obama and Trump, livestock auction prices, weather, and the weird guy in the corner booth taking pictures. The breakfast is pretty good, too--some of the most perfectly cooked French toast I've ever had, along with chocolate milk ("it come from the company", I was told). Unfortunately, we weren't able to try the food so I can't rate that, but the "service" was sadly lacking. We stopped in to have a meal on the patio with our dog in tow. We were told the patio was closed (even though there were many people eating out there) because they didn't have enough servers. We weren't in a hurry and would have been glad to wait, however, the woman at the front (who was standing around chit chatting) not only made no effort to accommodate us, but didn't even bother to make sure contact. My husband and I love to search out the little local spots like this and are always happy to find a place with such good food. Hubby had a French dip sandwich and said it is the best ever. This cafe is flexible and often allows orders from the three menus at the same time: breakfast, lunch and dinner!
