    Grilled Shrimp Taco

Sat at the bar, bar service was okay. Could have been better. I literally had to ask for every single thing. They have drink specials during hh. No food specials during hh. Bar backs and runners were friendlier and asked checked in more often. Nice restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Table side guacamole available. Food was good. Guacamole-chips & Salsa-and tacos.

This is one of my favorite spots in Neptune Beach. I always get the guac because they make it fresh in front of you and they have lots of yummy tacos to choose from. I recently got the brussels sprouts as an appetizer when I was there for happy hour and they were also very yummy. On top of that, Mondays they have six dollar house marks and there's some of the best marks I've had! I highly recommend this spot for happy hour or dinner with friends. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the bar is first come first serve which I enjoy! My service is usually really good when I go and I'm always happy with my experience.

Finally made it in here for dinner and I'm glad I did. The elote and the truffle fries were a fantastic way to start the meal. The watermelon drink I got was strong and tasty. The steak bowl was alright, I will be trying something different next time. A big tv and some little ones to catch sports games. Always smells delicious when you walk past too!

Flying Iguana is one of my favorite places to eat at the beaches. They have great chips and salsa, with two salsa flavors. You can also get super tasty guacamole made right at your table and customized to your preferences. I usually get a couple tacos, but my other favorite thing is their Ceviche de Pescado. All the flavors are delicious! They also make great drinks. My favorite is the Garden Margarita, which has muddled cucumber and cilantro in it. It's very fresh and a nice change from margaritas made with sour mix. You can make it a Spicey Garden, with a tajin rim and jalapenos. Or if you really like spicy, the Spice of Life is really good. I don't think I've ever had anything I don't like there, and we've been going for almost 10 years.

Definitely a nicer Mexican restaurant in terms of Mexican food. I got a skinny marg which was pretty good. Also got queso, guacamole, and salsa. The queso was my favorite out of the three. Surprisingly I preferred the dirty south taco and it didn't have meat but a fried green tomato instead. It was fresh out of the frier and phenomenal.

Great tacos and amazing tequila selection. Perfect choice for Taco Tuesday or anytime. Service is always friendly, and the atmosphere is very chill.

It was a mild day in August--really!! So we sat outside on the patio. We started with guacamole and chips. It was incredibly delicious. The chips had a nice spice on them and the guacamole was evenly balanced. Our server checked on us the right number of times. My husband ordered the pork dish. It was seasoned well. I had the chicken and rice bowl. The flavors were very authentic. It's a great place to get some fresh food that tastes good.

Friend, sis and I had lunch here before being dropped off at the airport. Thought we'd get a good, solid lunch in because we'd be missing dinner in the air. And we left with full tummies. Friend had been here before so she knew to order the table-side guac. It was a lunch rush with only one gal on guac duty. We saw her make guac for at least 5 tables before us. We tried to cancel the order since we waited for over 20 minutes and our entrees would be out soon, but we were next in line. So we got it but the waitress did comp it on the final bill, which was a nice gesture. Sal ordered a Crispy Pork Belly taco. It came with watermelon and she said it compliments well. I'll take her word for it. Sis ordered the Cubana Torta. It came with a salad. She liked the salad. Said it tasted like pickled cabbage. The sandwich meat was well flavored and juicy. Nice hints of mustard and pickles. Sometimes the mustard can overpower but this was balanced with the saltiness of the pork/ham. I ordered the Mexican Cheese Steak torte Torte. Bread was warm, toasted. Outside crusty but inside was soft. Great flavors that I can't remember but it was the best meal I had all weekend. I had the pablano peppers on the side and I'm glad I did. I could smell the spicy heat and it would have been too much fur my MN mouth. Fries were hot and lightly salted. I couldn't stop eating them so I had to throw the napkin over my plate. Out of sight, out if mind. The Flying Iguana was probably my favorite restaurant during my mid-Feb vacation. My hometown Mexican restaurants need to step up their game!!

Very impressed with the service in general on the 4th of July. I don't envy anyone that works on a holiday. But honestly props to the chef because this was a 10/10 steak quesadilla!! Didn't love the absurd amount of mayonnaise on the plate though, but I get that it was for decoration/plating.

My daughter and I were wanting a snack, homemade guacamole. We went to flying Iguana and sat outside as it was a beautiful day in Atlantic Beach! Our server didn't ask if we wanted it made table side, he ran off so fast and returned with the guacamole already made. While we have loved their guac in the past, it wasn't the greatest.

    Steak Taco & Junkyard Taco
    Katie B.

Came around 5:15pm on Father's Day-- it was very slow (I think because of weather) so we were seated immediately. It was quiet which isn't the norm. Our server was polite and professional. For drinks, we ordered the spice of life (their version of a spicy marg). I love this drink- has just the right kick, not too spicy. We ordered our usual go-to's for food: the steak taco and the junkyard taco. They are spicy so I order mine without the Fresno chiles or flaming iguana sauce. The chips & salsa are no longer complimentary which is unfortunate. They have some interesting new rice bowls I would like to try next time. We were in and out in 30ish minutes which was nice with the kiddos.

Pork belly taco (left) & carnitas taco (right) - both good!
    Heather N.

Great service during our summer weekday lunch. This street in Neptune is really cute & the restaurant was pretty and comfortable. The tableside guac was excellent--best part of lunch!! The carnitas taco was good and pork belly taco with watermelon was interesting and also good. The house marg wasn't inexpensive but it was tasty. They wouldn't sub the protein out on the chicken rice bowl so that was weird. Overall it was an enjoyable lunch.

Heard great things about this restaurant during my last visit to Jax Beach and had to make it there for dinner one night! We didn't make reservations ahead of time, so when we arrived there was quite a long wait, however, we got lucky enough and found 3 open spots at the bar so we snagged those immediately! The bar offers full service so we were able to order drinks and food. The guacamole was so fresh and yummy, and the queso dip was also fantastic! Definitely not like your average queso and had a bit of a smoky flavor to it which I really enjoyed. For my main dish, I went with a couple of tacos and they were also absolutely delicious! The junkyard was probably my favorite with grilled chicken, roasted potato, queso sauce, shaved cabbage, charred corn salsa, and flaming iguana sauce, but the dirty south was also really great and consisted of fried green tomato, black eyed "peaco" de gallo, queso sauce, and baby arugula. I was also told to order the guava cheesecake from a friend/local, and I am SO glad I did because wow, it was phenomenal. I love anything with guava and knew it was going to be a hit. I am still dreaming of it today and hope to go back to Jax Beach in the near future!

We got off the trolley at Stop 20, National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche, and were going to walk to the restaurant. Unbeknownst to us, there was no crosswalk to cross the busy Ponce de Leon boulevard. Mom isn't as spry as she once was so we didn't risk crossing without a crosswalk, so we had to walk another 1/4 or so to the nearest crosswalk then doubled back to the restaurant. Located in the The Ponce St. Augustine hotel, the restaurant is just to the left of the main doors. We had to wait a bit to get seated as the lone server had to clean a table first. Service was slow. I ordered the Bistec a Caballo (medium), my wife tried their Pork de Leon with fries and my mom opted for the Inca bowl. Did I say service was slow? Our orders weren't synched up. My order and my wife's sandwich were served first and we had to wait a few minutes before my mom's dish was served. My wife liked her sandwich and fries although she thought the shredded pork was a bit dry. My mom liked the flavors of her dish, with tender cuts of meat and smoky soy sauce flavor. The Bistec a Caballo had decent flavors BUT that steak was tough, even ordered medium. I felt like I was cutting through shoe leather cutting it with the serrated knife. Slow service and a tough steak bumped our rating down. We just couldn't overlook the quality and/or preparation of my steak, even with good flavors. Lunch for 3 came out to just over $67 with tip. Oh yeah, they add a surcharge for credit card payments.

I had my first meal there when I visited Jacksonville Beach recently. Got the grilled bone-in yellow snapper, which was a daily special. Fresh, meaty, smoky. It was served with mixed greens and apple salad, some grilled green onions and freshly made corn tortillas. All paired well with the fish. The tortillas were about 0.75oz per piece. Moreover, the dish was served on a HUGE cutting board! I also ordered a side of Spanish rice, but surprisingly the manager took it off from my bill, saying that "[he was] glad that I enjoyed the meal so much"! The first meal was indeed impressive; it had been a while since I had had such Mexican food last time. So I decided to give it another try the next evening. Ordered the Carne Asada (asked for rare) and sub the beans with extra tortillas (to avoid high GI food). But the steak was disappointing: the first time it was served ~medium-well. The second time it was ~medium-rare so I did not complain twice. However, it was quite chewy. One reason was that, as you can see from my picture, the meat was not rest long enough before it was sliced and served. Service was good, friendly and quick. The restuarant was a bit noisy but I enjoyed the energy. Moreover, there were lots of beautiful decors and murals. I really like the tiger painted on the wall of their main dining area. So in short, I would recommend this restaurant if you like Mexican food. I would recommend the seafood and slowly-cooked stuff, like their short rib and pork shank. And I will dine in again the next time I visit Jacksonville Beach.
