This is a staple spot for me whenever I'm at the beach and looking for a good restaurant! The vibes are ALWAYS fun and vibrant. The space is very clean and modern with a hint of boho chic that ties in perfectly with the beachy atmosphere. And I have to mention the playlist! The music is always so good and upbeat that it literally makes you want to get up and dance. It really adds to the overall experience and makes dinner here feel like a whole vibe. I mostly come here for dinner with my friends, and we always have the best time. We've never been disappointed! The service is consistently warm and welcoming. I've been here several times now, and one thing I can always count on is the consistency. One of the things I constantly come back for is the roasted oysters with chorizo. They're one of my absolute favorite and they're the main reason I wanted to bring my boyfriend here because I knew he would love them. They were an absolute hit! The combination of the smoky, roasted oysters with the savory, spicy chorizo is just incredible. I usually order the same thing every time I come, but this time I decided to switch it up and ordered the scallops and I'm so glad I did. The scallops were cooked to perfection: beautifully seared on the outside while remaining tender, delicate, and buttery inside. The corn purée was my favorite part of the dish. It was creamy, slightly sweet, and paired so well with the scallops. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye with spicy compound butter, and that steak was SO juicy. I loved that everything had that delicious wood fired char that gives the food so much depth and smoky flavor. The spicy compound butter was definitely a standout for me it melted right over the steak and added the perfect amount of richness and heat. Even the vegetables on the side were delicious and had that same wonderful flavor. And, of course, the cocktails were amazing. 4.5 stars would be most accurate. Located in the heart of Jacksonville Beach, this fancy restaurant serves Oaxaca food from Mexico for both dinner and brunch. I had my first meal there when I visited Jacksonville Beach recently. Got the grilled bone-in yellow snapper, which was a daily special. Fresh, meaty, smoky. It was served with mixed greens and apple salad, some grilled green onions and freshly made corn tortillas. All paired well with the fish. The tortillas were about 0.75oz per piece. Moreover, the dish was served on a HUGE cutting board! I also ordered a side of Spanish rice, but surprisingly the manager took it off from my bill, saying that "[he was] glad that I enjoyed the meal so much"! The first meal was indeed impressive; it had been a while since I had had such Mexican food last time. So I decided to give it another try the next evening. Ordered the Carne Asada (asked for rare) and sub the beans with extra tortillas (to avoid high GI food). But the steak was disappointing: the first time it was served ~medium-well. The second time it was ~medium-rare so I did not complain twice. However, it was quite chewy. One reason was that, as you can see from my picture, the meat was not rest long enough before it was sliced and served. Service was good, friendly and quick. The restuarant was a bit noisy but I enjoyed the energy. Moreover, there were lots of beautiful decors and murals. I really like the tiger painted on the wall of their main dining area. So in short, I would recommend this restaurant if you like Mexican food. I would recommend the seafood and slowly-cooked stuff, like their short rib and pork shank. We went during happy hour and shared the beef tacos and 2 orders of wings. The wings were amazing! The cilantro ranch that came with the wings was so good and flavorful! We also got the carne asada plate. I don't have a pic of the dish but I wish I did. It was huge and enough to share. Most of their dishes are enough to share. I loved the decor of the place. No chips and salsa brought to the table as well which is STANDARD for Mexican restaurants. I was very pleased with Oaxaca Club. Heading out for a belated birthday celebration, my husband and I were looking forward to trying the place. With a hankering for steak, I knew exactly what I wanted - carne asada. We started with the queso completo, which included corn, chorizo, and peppers. It was thick and flavorful, perfect for chip dipping but a little challenging to get into a tortilla. My husband ordered the barbacoa enchiladas and we split a side of brussel sprouts. They were nice enough to sub the rice that came with the steak for a salad. We both enjoyed our entrees and we had more than enough for leftovers given the very generous portions. For dessert, we shared the pastel pina, which was a delicious butter cake topped with pineapples and brown butter frosting. Rainy Sunday afternoon on the patio of Oaxaca Club is definitely a vibe. If they are not busy, there may not be anyone at the front stand so it may take a couple of minutes for them to notice you are there to be seated. Once seated, my server came and promptly took my drink order, chips and salsa do not come automatically they are an additional $6 charge. I decided to order the chips and guac instead. The guac was fresh and the chips were also fresh and seemed freshly fried! That's always a plus. To drink, I ordered the Endless Weekend mocktail and it was so flavorful and refreshing, definitely something I would order again! For my main dish I ordered a veggie quesadilla with rice and beans. The quesadillas are made with blue corn tortillas and are served with 2, sour cream, guac and salsa are also included. The veggie quesadilla is amazing btw and the rice and beans are good as well! Good food and drinks! Certain things could have been better, but I do look forward to going back and trying different menu items. Excellent mezcal selection. I had the Hit Chamoy Up, a mezcal cocktail made with hibiscus and it was absolutely delicious. Drink selection gets 5 stars! As does our bartender Alex, who was very knowledgeable and prompt with our requests. We ordered the guacamole, ceviche appetizer and nachos. The guacamole was very tasty and was topped with a bit of oil and pepitas. It comes with chips, but you have to purchase the salsa flight separately if you want both. Next came the ceviche ahi appetizer. The first few pieces were delicious! But unfortunately the rest was inedible due to the tough membrane in all the pieces. We couldn't even cut it with a knife. We pointed it out that we couldn't eat half of it, and it was obvious there was a lot left in the bowl. But we were still charged full price so that was disappointing. But the few pieces we did have that were cut without the membrane were excellent. The nachos were the main meal, and they were enough for two people after the appetizers. The barbacoa on the nachos was really tasty. The stack could have used a bit more layering to get more nacho coverage, so overall the nachos were good, but I probably wouldn't order them next time. They could have used some salsa on the side for all the plain chips, but salsa is not included. The ambiance is open and airy, minimalist decor. It was a nice day and the windows and doors were open, with a nice breeze. Overall, I would recommend eating here, and I look forward to going back and trying a few more things. It would have gotten more stars if they had made an effort to correct the ceviche issue. We also didn't make a big deal out of it, but did clearly point out that half of it was too tough to chew. But again, I would still recommend trying it! Great drinks and menu selection. Hoping our next visit is a 5 star one. We decided to try Oaxaca Club on a Saturday evening. I must mention that the location is great, it's right by the beaches, the atmosphere of the restaurant was very open and warm. There is also outside seating available, though we opted to sit inside. They offer a lot of cocktails, however I was appreciative that they offered wine as well, not too many Mexican restaurants offer good wine. To drink I ordered the Tempranillo. Food wise everything was excellent. We started with the nachos which I did not think we would finish, however the nachos were so good that we ended up clearing the plate. For entrees we had the whole chicken, which was honestly enough for 3 people, possibly 4. The chicken was seasoned good, and had a delicious pico de gallo on top. The lunch menu has plenty of appetizers, six salads, six tacos, four sandwiches, four entrees and several desserts. I was in the mood for a salad so I asked my server, Madeline, which one she recommended. She suggested the Carne Asada Cobb salad, so I went with her recommendation. Oaxaca Club has steadily held its place in my heart as one of my favorite local restaurants for the last year with it's consistency, ambiance, and amazing staff! My lunch today was no different as I have been craving their pescado (fish) tacos which are so crunchy, yet flakey and moist - a simple taco that packs a flavorful punch. Unbeknownst to me they have a brunch menu that's available on the weekend and while the options sounded so yummy, I was already too focused on the tacos I had been yearning for that led me there in the first place. Although, my friend did try the breakfast burrito and raved about it (even after we left.) For the appetizer we did have the roasted oysters with chorizo butter on top and for drinks we all decided upon the hibiscus margarita - which is one of my go-to cocktails whenever i visit! Although, they do make a stellar moscow mule that I like to swap out for tequila (don't knock it until you try it) and it's always a winner in my book.
