Tonight was our first time at Oaxaca for a birthday dinner. I have to say it was amazing from start to finish. By the time we ordered the small plates and shortly after its arrival I was convinced we'd come back. Delicious! Flavorful, decadent and very fulfilling! From the Queso completo, Mexican street corn and the carnitas tamale rojo that was perfectly paired with a pickled flavored jalapeño made the dish alive and tapping with flavor dancing on the taste buds. I asked the server to surprise me between three dishes I couldn't decide from. Dom, you're amazing; kind, courteous and you really know how to make an everlasting impression so effortlessly. The star of the show was the whole grilled yellowtail chef's special with a tamarind ponzu sauce that he chose for me! What a way to wow your guest and make them feel safe with trusting the palette of the family that's working together. I have to say this dish was AMAZING, Craig (The Chef) came to greet us in the midst of our dinner, that was a first! Hands down best yellowtail. My bf doesn't even like fish and he couldn't stop from eating it and wished he'd ordered the special. It was a nice, cozy and modern space and I love the ambiance! Can't wait to come back! 4.5 stars would be most accurate. Located in the heart of Jacksonville Beach, this fancy restaurant serves Oaxaca food from Mexico for both dinner and brunch. I had my first meal there when I visited Jacksonville Beach recently. Got the grilled bone-in yellow snapper, which was a daily special. Fresh, meaty, smoky. It was served with mixed greens and apple salad, some grilled green onions and freshly made corn tortillas. All paired well with the fish. The tortillas were about 0.75oz per piece. Moreover, the dish was served on a HUGE cutting board! I also ordered a side of Spanish rice, but surprisingly the manager took it off from my bill, saying that "[he was] glad that I enjoyed the meal so much"! The first meal was indeed impressive; it had been a while since I had had such Mexican food last time. So I decided to give it another try the next evening. Ordered the Carne Asada (asked for rare) and sub the beans with extra tortillas (to avoid high GI food). But the steak was disappointing: the first time it was served ~medium-well. The second time it was ~medium-rare so I did not complain twice. However, it was quite chewy. One reason was that, as you can see from my picture, the meat was not rest long enough before it was sliced and served. Service was good, friendly and quick. The restuarant was a bit noisy but I enjoyed the energy. Moreover, there were lots of beautiful decors and murals. I really like the tiger painted on the wall of their main dining area. So in short, I would recommend this restaurant if you like Mexican food. I would recommend the seafood and slowly-cooked stuff, like their short rib and pork shank. And I will dine in again the next time I visit Jacksonville Beach. read more

This was one of the best dining experience we had while visiting our friend in Jax beach. The food was excellent, the drinks especially the tequila craft cocktails exceeded wetting our whistles. We started with a Clarified Mezcal Margarita and a Oaxaca Old Fashioned. Both were perfect! Guacamole came next with warm chips. Tons of flavor and cilantro oil was a nice touch. Food and drinks were good and the ambiance was nice. However the service was terrible. The bartender had an AirPod in her ear and didn't hear us when we had something to order. And the male bartender is so slow and would try not to make eye contact it was crazy. We actually did bond with the people next to us over the terrible service so that was a plus I guess. read more

For our 1yr Anniversary we had dinner at Oaxaca Club and it was a great spot! It is adjacent to Jax Beach and has indoor and outdoor seating. We sat indoor because it was too hot. We went during happy hour and shared the beef tacos and 2 orders of wings. The wings were amazing! The cilantro ranch that came with the wings was so good and flavorful! We also got the carne asada plate. I don't have a pic of the dish but I wish I did. It was huge and enough to share. Most of their dishes are enough to share. I loved the decor of the place. I was very pleased with Oaxaca Club. Heading out for a belated birthday celebration, my husband and I were looking forward to trying the place. With a hankering for steak, I knew exactly what I wanted - carne asada. We started with the queso completo, which included corn, chorizo, and peppers. It was thick and flavorful, perfect for chip dipping but a little challenging to get into a tortilla. My husband ordered the barbacoa enchiladas and we split a side of brussel sprouts. They were nice enough to sub the rice that came with the steak for a salad. We both enjoyed our entrees and we had more than enough for leftovers given the very generous portions. For dessert, we shared the pastel pina, which was a delicious butter cake topped with pineapples and brown butter frosting. If it had a scoop of ice cream to accompany it, it would've been even better! Oaxaca Club had a very mixed clientele, which was nice to see at the beach. We decided to try Oaxaca Club on a Saturday evening. I must mention that the location is great, it's right by the beaches, the atmosphere of the restaurant was very open and warm. There is also outside seating available, though we opted to sit inside. They offer a lot of cocktails, however I was appreciative that they offered wine as well, not too many Mexican restaurants offer good wine. To drink I ordered the Tempranillo. Food wise everything was excellent. We started with the nachos which I did not think we would finish, however the nachos were so good that we ended up clearing the plate. For entrees we had the whole chicken, which was honestly enough for 3 people, possibly 4. The chicken was seasoned good, and had a delicious pico de gallo on top. It also was served with rice, beans, and sweet plantains. I cannot wait to visit again, this easily is my favorite Mexican restaurant now! read more

Rainy Sunday afternoon on the patio of Oaxaca Club is definitely a vibe. If they are not busy, there may not be anyone at the front stand so it may take a couple of minutes for them to notice you are there to be seated. Once seated, my server came and promptly took my drink order, chips and salsa do not come automatically they are an additional $6 charge. I decided to order the chips and guac instead. The guac was fresh and the chips were also fresh and seemed freshly fried! That's always a plus. To drink, I ordered the Endless Weekend mocktail and it was so flavorful and refreshing, definitely something I would order again! For my main dish I ordered a veggie quesadilla with rice and beans. The quesadillas are made with blue corn tortillas and are served with 2, sour cream, guac and salsa are also included. The veggie quesadilla is amazing btw and the rice and beans are good as well! Good food and drinks! Certain things could have been better, but I do look forward to going back and trying different menu items. Excellent mezcal selection. I had the Hit Chamoy Up, a mezcal cocktail made with hibiscus and it was absolutely delicious. Drink selection gets 5 stars! As does our bartender Alex, who was very knowledgeable and prompt with our requests. We ordered the guacamole, ceviche appetizer and nachos. The guacamole was very tasty and was topped with a bit of oil and pepitas. It comes with chips, but you have to purchase the salsa flight separately if you want both. Next came the ceviche ahi appetizer. The first few pieces were delicious! But unfortunately the rest was inedible due to the tough membrane in all the pieces. We couldn't even cut it with a knife. We pointed it out that we couldn't eat half of it, and it was obvious there was a lot left in the bowl. But we were still charged full price so that was disappointing. But the few pieces we did have that were cut without the membrane were excellent. The nachos were the main meal, and they were enough for two people after the appetizers. The barbacoa on the nachos was really tasty. The stack could have used a bit more layering to get more nacho coverage, so overall the nachos were good, but I probably wouldn't order them next time. They could have used some salsa on the side for all the plain chips, but salsa is not included. The ambiance is open and airy, minimalist decor. It was a nice day and the windows and doors were open, with a nice breeze. Overall, I would recommend eating here, and I look forward to going back and trying a few more things. It would have gotten more stars if they had made an effort to correct the ceviche issue. We also didn't make a big deal out of it, but did clearly point out that half of it was too tough to chew. Food wise my husband went for the brunch burger, I went for the chile relleno and chargrilled oysters. This newer Mexican restaurant is very close to Jacksonville Beach's bandshell near the beach. The interior is beautiful along with the bar area. They also have plenty of outdoor seating. The lunch menu has plenty of appetizers, six salads, six tacos, four sandwiches, four entrees and several desserts. I was in the mood for a salad so I asked my server, Madeline, which one she recommended. She suggested the Carne Asada Cobb salad, so I went with her recommendation. They were not busy, but the service was very good, even when my wife thought the sauce on her tacos was too spicy. They quickly made her a new order. My wife had been there before with our son and enjoyed so we decided to eat there. We should have asked how much the top shelf margaritas were because they were expensive. $29. But we ordered the ribeye and my first 3 bites were nothing but grizzle. So we asked for another steak as I'm not paying $50 for a terrible cut of ribeye. Received the second and it was worse than the first. They took it away and we ordered some tacos as we had not really eaten. When we got our bill they only took half the price of the ribeye off. I got Barbacoa (slow braised beef) tacos but unfortunately the beef was very dry and tough. Wife had 1 and agreed. Chimi Chiri sauce helped make it better. Service was good. Oaxaca Club has steadily held its place in my heart as one of my favorite local restaurants for the last year with it's consistency, ambiance, and amazing staff! My lunch today was no different as I have been craving their pescado (fish) tacos which are so crunchy, yet flakey and moist - a simple taco that packs a flavorful punch. Unbeknownst to me they have a brunch menu that's available on the weekend and while the options sounded so yummy, I was already too focused on the tacos I had been yearning for that led me there in the first place. Although, my friend did try the breakfast burrito and raved about it (even after we left.) For the appetizer we did have the roasted oysters with chorizo butter on top and for drinks we all decided upon the hibiscus margarita - which is one of my go-to cocktails whenever i visit! Although, they do make a stellar moscow mule that I like to swap out for tequila (don't knock it until you try it) and it's always a winner in my book. It was a moms' day out, so we started with shots We both tried their beautifully smooth house tequila. We then each ordered a cocktail - me, the Paper Plane (tropical bourbon cocktail with lemon, aperol, and Amaro Nonino), and her, the Hibiscus Margarita (tangy, sweet tequila, lime and hibiscus topped with a spicy salt rim). On to the food, we both ordered Campechano con Huevo (steak, eggs, cheese on a flat tortilla), which was perfectly satisfying and savory. It was so good, we HAD to order more food. So we shared two fluffy French toasts decked in powdered sugar and a tangy jam, and for dessert, a beautiful butter that we dream about today. I've returned several times since my first visit including two visits in the past 3-4 weeks. Most recently was this past weekend. Everything was delicious, as usual. Around the first weekend of September, I went with my baby sister. I tried one of the specials and I was impressed.
