I was visiting from New York and accidentally spilled a drink on my camera. I was honestly so sad, but I brought it here right away and Ras was amazing. He helped me figure out exactly what was wrong, expedited everything, and was just so kind through the whole process. This place is interesting, right by the Chinatown gate, it has all kind of film and Polaroid cameras, and film. Unfortunately the owner just talked on the cell phone the whole time and ignore us. I had a brand new Leica SL3 reporter on my neck and any other camera store would target me for a sale. So unfortunately I did not get to touch or try anything, just ignored. I went into the shop looking for a second-hand fisheye lens for my 20+ year-old Canon camera. An elderly member of staff took me to the owner, who immediately quoted me $350 for a lens without even asking what camera model I had or looking at it. I politely declined and explained that I could buy a suitable lens elsewhere for around $150, especially as my camera itself is only worth around $200-300. Instead of having a reasonable conversation, the owner became confrontational and told me to "f* off**." After being spoken to like that, I responded in kind. My 17-year-old son, who was understandably upset, looked at the owner for a couple of seconds. The owner then turned to him and asked if he "wanted to get some," which came across as an invitation to a physical confrontation. My wife stepped in to calm the situation, and we left immediately. My children were so shaken by the encounter that they wanted to leave the city, which we did. Disagreements over price happen, but there is absolutely no excuse for abusive language or intimidating behaviour towards customers and their family. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this shop. If you're looking for camera equipment in San Francisco, I'd strongly suggest taking your business elsewhere read more

From the start of the interaction they were very kind and helpful, I had bought a digital camera from them in the beginning of March, a month had past and I was having issues with my camera so I took it back and they were being very understanding and helpful and saw the fact that as a customer I had to go out of my way to go though Bart to get there, they were very understanding and helpful and let me replace the faulty camera with another one. Awful attitude, unknowledgeable staff, absurd prices. Do NOT buy from this store. I went into the store to look for Nikkor lenses and Olympus XA cameras. I was repeatedly questioned by store employees on whether I actually wanted to buy something, despite clearly carrying multiple camera bodies on me. The store employees aggressively told me that they had the Nikkor lens I was after and that I need to confirm to them that I was actually going to make a purchase. After my repeated confirmations, they searched and told me that they, in fact, did not have the lens I was looking for. Regarding the XA, the employees similarly questioned my purchasing intentions and initially brought out the wrong camera. When they finally bought out the right camera, they repeatedly refused to let me actually hold and inspect the camera, and was extremely patronizing. Upon my inspection, the camera showed a meter reading of f/2.8, ISO 800, 1/2s in the bright indoor store environment, while my meter reading 1/125s. I told the employee that the meter reading was off by 6 stops. The employee responded by telling me that my meter was off. The fact that a camera store employee cannot tell that a camera metering for 1/125s at f/2.8, ISO 800 in a BRIGHT INDOOR SCENE is simply absurd, and he had the nerve to assert that my meter was the broken one. This is in addition to them selling the camera for $500 and advertising it as "fully working", despite the camera typically going for $200-250 on eBay. Visit the store if you want an awful experience. Will not return again. read more

Do not buy from here. These people are scammers and will take advantage of you and your inexperience. My friend and I went into this shop looking at the cameras only to be roped into buying our own. The salesman made it seem like a very good deal, telling us he could sell us the cameras at a lower price than normal. Neither of us had done any research beforehand on either of the cameras, but the prices for them alone ended up being similar, if not the exact same, as models online. He also scammed us into paying for what we thought were 128GB SD cards, only to check later and find out they were only 4GB, which I ended up paying $65 for. He also gave me two different types of batteries, one of which I had to Google image search to figure out what they were, because when I searched the name online nothing would come up. They didn't seem to be the most high quality for a camera store. The receipt I was given didn't have any type of information on what I had paid for. It only had the total amount of money I paid and a message in small text stating what I bought was non-refundable. All together I paid around $195 which is a total ripoff. The salesman also put both the batteries and SD cards into the cameras from behind the counter out of our view, so we had no idea he scammed us until after. Again, do not buy from here. They try to persuade you with "discounts" and "extra" accessories. The price I was charged for a used camera was much higher than the price that the camera was sold for at release, several years ago. This seems to be reflective in all of the owner's pricing. When asked about this disparity, he said that he sets his prices, and the online prices are only low due to being online. Upon further research, it if clear any other physical stores prices are monstrously cheaper. Lesson learned to do my research before, and check the return policy - fyi this store does not do returns. Really sad to say this place scams. To start, the pricetags have ridiculous numbers on them (for example, it will be hundreds of dollars more than the same item is being sold by multiple providers online) so that you feel you are getting a deal when they overcharge you. I went in to browse and fell in love with a pink and grey Polaroid Cool Cam. They quoted me a price that was much higher than the average price on ebay, but I wanted the damn thing and I felt like supporting a local business. We completed the purchase and they handed me a receipt. Then suddenly one of the owners says "I need to go in the back to check the flash". He comes back after a few minutes and says "bad news, the flash takes forever on this - I can't let you leave with this." He says he will replace it with a more expensive camera, a Polaroid One Touch Close Up "in a very rare color". The price tag on that camera was over $500. I said OK even though I had really wanted the specific camera I had purchased and wasn't thrilled with the replacement. When I got home I googled it - the replacement (again, which they listed at $500!) is newer than the Cool Cam, less rare, and worth about $80 on ebay. No one cares about the "rare color." I feel totally hustled, in retrospect I wonder how many people they've lured in with that cute pink Cool Cam. Avoid! read more
