Had Lo (Lauren) as my colorist at Focas Salon St. Charles, and will never go back. I've always tipped 20% so I knew that couldn't have been the issue here. In any case, she booked my next appointment on a Sunday. When that Sunday came around, I pulled up at the salon and it was closed - they're not even open on Sunday's. So I knew this was deliberate. I called and left an incredibly frustrated voicemail and NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK TO APOLOGIZE. I also shared this with my mom who also saw Lo and she also stopped going after that too. Awful, awful, weird experience. Took forever to get color and cut, and was $$$$. When I got home and really inspected my hair one side was nearly an inch longer than the other side. I called and asked for it to be fixed...they wouldn't do it because the person who had cut my hair left for the 4th of July weekend. I asked if someone else could fix it, but they would charge me. Genevieve is the best! I bought the Groupon for the conditioning mask, cut and style. When I arrived I was greeted by the receptionist and Genevieve they did my temperature scan/hand sanitizer and then she proceeded with the tour and explained their natural/sustainable product line. She asked about my , style/color routine and what I felt was needed. She used a clarifying shampoo to address concerns about my hard water, an energizing shampoo to stimulate growth (another tidbit I mentioned when discussing the ‍), the scalp massage ‍was amazing! The staff were very friendly and they helped me with sending off my collected hair donation for Kids With Cancer ---- I didn't have to do a thing but chop-chop. I've been there twice and both times my appointment times were incorrect - they have a very young inexperienced front desk staff there and obviously a lot of errors making simple appointments. I asked to speak to the owner and she "wasn't available" and the young girl looked terrified. My stylist was great-I have no complaints there at all, my hair looks good. I do want to say that the salon is dirty and outdated for the pricing that they charge. Missing trim boards-painted different colors-a total 90's look with cabinets falling apart and a LOT of hair/dust on the floor. It's like it's never been cleaned since they opened. I love Focus everyone is great. I have been going to Lo now for almost 2 years. When I started my hair was in bad shape she helped bring my hair back to life. She is amazing with color. We started of slow with a little blue and purple and went to my whole head being blue which I loved. I figured out my natural color is blue. She also helped me with extensions when I was missing my long hair. Now we play around and have fun trying new things together. She also does my son's red hair as well as my sister who likes normal colors This last one is absolutely amazing as soon as I left the salon I received compliments. My hair has never been in better hands. If you want someone who you can trust and who does a wonderful job Lo is your girl. She is the sweatest person you will ever meet and she knows her stuff. Base Color touch up & bolyage highlights I really love the base color and the mix of highlights colors Maria did it's an amazing truly creative art she has. Each time I look at the color in the mirror it's a great feeling to love the outcome. She's cut my hair one time I'm trying to gain some length back and with a quality cut such as hers I think I can accomplish this. Sitting in Maria's chair is nice relaxing experience. Horrible My stylist had least personal skills. She kept pressing foil against my face to ensure it is easier for her never mind my face getting smooshed for an hour. During processing hair color was peeling off and flaking on my skin. It took forever to finish and I was extremely concerned. I have been going to Focus for years now. Hands down, the best salon in the Saint Charles area. I lived in the city for years, went to very high end salons and could not find a true color & hair extension expert who got it perfect-that is until I found Gina at Focus. I stopped in for a blow out having just moved to Saint Charles. I have difficult hair, and as a redhead, it is extremely hard to color match and blend my hair w/ extensions. I am very picky as well, and have high expectations. All the stylists are great, so it's hard to pick just one. The best part, if someone is booked, I can select from a nice variety w/o concern. Gina, Lo, Alyssa, Laura, Tyler, Hanna, Skyler, Renee-all amazing. Additionally, I rarely blow out my own hair because it is fine and difficult w/ extensions - at any time, I am always accommodated and know that any of the stylists available will make me look amazing. The front desk, managed by Matt are amazing, too. Friendly and always accommodating. Trish, the owner, onsite and gives great guidance to her team. I receive compliments constantly on my hair, people don't believe me when I tell them that I have extensions because the color, and texture match perfectly! Went in for a full highlight, cut, and style. Noticed that he stylist either smelled like alcohol or went out the night before (first warning sign). After we spoke, she felt that to get my hair a lighter blond, it would be best to color it. She insisted, several times, that she guarantees her work (next warning sign). I informed her that I process quickly and started to become concerned when my scalp started burning and itching, which she offered me a teasing comb to itch my head while I process (third warning sign). Needless to say, my hair came out red and burnt. She attempted to fix the color, I believe by pouring bleach directly on my hair and shampooing it. When I inquired about the odor, she assured me it was a solution hey use to lift color. Ugh... I certainly didn't want her to attempt to fix the color or damage, so I tried reaching the salon manger or owner. I called four times and the male receptionist insisted that there was not a salon manger available, but He could have the front desk manager call me back. I did not want to leave my number. I love missy she is great, cept the receptionist stole $20 from me by charging me for services I never received, which Missy agreed I never received said services about 10 times, but the receptionist drilled it in her head that I did to the point she just agreed, power of suggestion. I don't blame Missy she's very sweet I like her, but I feel the receptionist needs to learn better customer service. Good customer service is not charging people for services they don't receive.
