With the store in my sites I pulled a hard right without rolling the SUV I was driving and parked... Amazing surf shop for goodie , surf boards and skateboards. Grabbed my Val Surf logo sweatshirt and a weird Nike shirt cause it was kick a$$ white with hot pink drawing... Now I explored and found great surf gear from major brands I won't mention but the shoe selection was amazing, especially the VANS. The suede leather Vans were awesome and I desperately wanted a few pairs but I didn't have room in luggage.... As I was walking past UGG's display they had the sand color version and again if I had room I'd bought a pair... Super cool " Dude " handling cashier duty's was awesome. The over the top skateboard decks blew me away located behind him and I only wish I was 12 again so I pester my parents for one... we had a good laugh about age and away I went... NOTE : Speaking of killer items and this wasn't for sale was wooden shoe by Vans with images of old school pro skaters including the "Godfather of pool skating" Mr Tony Alva! Danny at the skate counter dialed me in with some great recommendations and a clean build. There were plenty of ready to roll complete decks there for a great value, but there's nothing quite like piecing something together off the wall, unwrapping the unblemished deck from the plastic, and building it on the spot with some grip tape fresh off the roll. Seeing less than a 5 star average for a shop that has been great to everyone in my circle since elementary school was an unacceptable sight for me, so I felt compelled to write this.

The way…read morethe owner is attempting to censor me should be extremely telling.  I still think about this horrible experience every time I'm in Malibu, which is almost weekly. I went to another business in the plaza well after Zuma Jay's had already closed. The parking lot is extremely small and spaces are limited, so I ended up parked in a spot directly in front of his shop. I had a friend with me who stayed in the car, and I left it running because I was only going to be gone for no more than five minutes. I was upstairs in the other business for no more than 90 seconds when the owner stormed into someone else's establishment looking for me, yelling at me to turn my car off because it was blowing exhaust into his shop. And I say this because it is relevant, I drive a brand new, well maintained, luxury vehicle that does not just sit there emitting fumes like that. If his concerns were valid (they weren't) there were so many other ways this could have been handled. His shop was already closed. He could have simply closed his door, waited, or calmly approached me when I came back. Instead, he chose to come into another business and aggressively attack me.  When I finished my business and walked downstairs, I saw him trying to yell at my friend, who was still sitting in the car. She didn't engage with him because she genuinely thought he was a crazy homeless man harassing her. This interaction was completely unacceptable and left a lasting impression. I would stay away from this place and spend your money at a more respectful establishment that knows how to treat people professionally.

A friend and I chatted with Blinky for about 20 minutes. He broke down and explained a lot about board design. What a treat. He's been doing this so long and he's still stoked and friendly. The rest of the staff were also very friendly. Amazingly a yelper below complained because they don't have enough apparel and bikinis. How ironic is that? There are hardly any real surfboard shops left, since most shop floor rooms are covered with "apparel and bikinis", which carry higher profit margins than surfboards. That person should visit one of Socal's many fine mall surfboard shops and they'll find all the bikinis they need.

So I have had less than great experiences with board repair. Often I get something back that is…read moreworse than what I could have done and believe me I'm no craftsman. Anyway a friend casually suggested I try Rider Shack to repair my board. The guy taking in my board couldn't have been nicer and then he uttered the famous surfboard shop repair claim, "It shouldn't take more than 2 weeks'. Sure I thought to myself. But guess what? Approximate 9 days later I got my board back (!) and it was so well repaired I tipped the guy a few dollars to give to the repair guy, Jose, since I was so impressed. The capper was this. When I brought the board in I had forgotten to take the fins that the guy took off before taking in board for repair. I had forgotten I had left them at shop and searched my car throughout and then thought I must have forgotten the fins at the shop. So I called and Jeff (the owner) quickly found them and gave them to me. He even gave me an extra fin screw just in case I had lost mine. These guys rule. You definitely just gained a repeat loyal customer! Thx again. So appreciated.

Wife and I decided to do something outdoors on the first full day of summer this year. Earlier in…read morethe week we made reservations to rent some Kayaks from Pro Sup Shop. It was super easy to do online, so on Saturday morning, all we had to do was get there. We arrived in MDR 15 to 20 minutes before our appointment. Lot 10, which is public pay lot, was literally right next to the shop, so that was super convenient! Check in was super easy and every point of contact we had with staff was excellent. You can tell they know their business and they are happy to give pointers or help out with whatever you need. We're thinking about bringing our nephew next time we come back. and we will definitely be back. Great business!
