really disappointing experience. I made the reservation about 3 weeks in advance. went on valentines night with my husband and 2 kids. they escorted us to this tiny table on the 1st floor in the corner right next to the downstairs sushi bar. my husbands chair was literally up against the sushi bar right next to 2 gentlemen. I couldnt even pull my chair out. I told them this was ridiculous and asked if they were serious- if there was any other table available? and they said no. So we continued our night... we ordered and the sushi was not great. we were all kind of disappointed- not wow'ed at all. the Nigiri were tiny and the rolls werent great. I dont know what the hype is with this place but I was really excited to come here (we live 10 minutes away) and was disappointed by the whole experience. if you want an eh place for suhi in Rye, then this is your place. but its not 'nice' and doesnt feel special at all. read more

First time at this place, we went for lunch. Very cozy spot with 13$ for 2 roll lunch specials pretty great value and good service. Sushi tasted fresh and for appetizer those roast pork buns were amazing. There is a small lot on the side with 2 hr parking for free. read more

We have been enjoying food at Fogama about every Two weeks for the past year and have found it to be consistently excellent. Most of the reviews are accurate. The fish is very fresh and creatively presented, it's not inexpensive, parking is a drag and the decor is dated. It's very funny to read the occasional poor review on Yelp. It probably says more about the reviewers than the restaurant? Raw Fish rarely can be an issue at 5 star NYC restaurants too but some people write truly bizarre reviews. read more

Had a really bad experience here. When we walked in the place smelled fishy-- should have turned back then. Continued upstairs and half the tables were reserved-- kind of annoying. Then they mixed up my sister and my sushi and had to re make the orders. Also the shrimp shumai tasted like bad shrimp so bad and the pork bao buns were so salty and bad. Overall, overpriced and bad. Steve from Koo is still rude and obnoxious. We used to go to Koo weekly. I couldn't remember why we stopped but now I realize it was Steve. I can't believe he's running another restaurant! If you decide to go here, double check your order. Whether it's pick up, delivery or you're eating in. He told me everyone knows he doesn't answer the phone after 5 pm bc he's too busy. Although I called in my order at 5:07. We reviewed my address and we never got our food. The next day he returned my 2 messages and said it was there for pickup. I asked to please credit my card, he said he would like he was doing me a favor! He said he called me bc we didn't pick up but not until 10 pm. By then we ordered and picked up and ate from Miku in Greenwich. So much better by the way, but they don't deliver. The only reason we went here a few months ago was because a client gave a gift card. Never again. Please try Oko in Rye or sushi in another town! Miku and Hinoki are great. read more

We were just passing by on our way to manhattan, hit some traffic and yelped the place. It was so great! Quiet, quaint , and elegant! The food was outstanding! And the service great. We loved some of their original Japanese dishes too, like the 'fogama' tower, a tower of avocado, spicey tuna and crab! Came here for a girls night and had an awesome time. The wait staff were super nice and the food was better than I expected. We shared three starters and they were all good. I ordered the seafood curry ramen noodle soup and thought it tasted good. They loaded it with seafood. More than I thought I was going to get. The broth flavor was good. I count event finish it. High quality fish, yes. Sit at the small sushi bar and get special treatment? Yes. Does that matter to you? The service is reliable yet antiseptic. It's like that don't really know how to care to want you to come back. Is t this part of a Japanese restaurants role? Regardless, the sushi is some of the best. I usually dine in Port Chester or Greenwich, but, tried this place tonight on a whim. Sadly, I didn't even know this place existed but I am glad I discovered it! Great atmosphere, wonderful staff-- all around great place. I had a saketini to drink and have been to places where this drink is ridiculously good (Asian Temptation in White Plains) and ridiculously bad in others (most other places) and this was spot on! We had a Boston roll, spicy tuna roll, and miso soup for appetizers. The Boston roll was great, the spicy tuna roll was above and beyond amazing-- I wanted to cancel my dinner and order 3 more tuna rolls! I'm not a huge fan of miso soup in general, but, what I sampled, I actually enjoyed. For dinner, I couldn't decide between 3 different noodle dishes and based on the server's recommendation had rice noodles with chicken. When it came to the table, it was not what I thought it was going to be at all so I was a little skeptical but was not disappointed at all. It was light and refreshing with a great assortment of veggies. The pineapple fried rice was good, too. I think I have found a new sushi place to go to in the neighborhood. We tried this lovely little sushi place again, today, and it was excellent! Everything was wonderfully put together and the service was good. It was a bit like coming home. Miso soup was excellent. Spicy tuna cracker, appetizer, was also excellent, though the 4-piece portion seemed small relative to the $15 price tag. Spicy kanji salad, another appetizer, was a real treat, as were the assortment of rolls that were enjoyed by the family. Start to finish, extremely satisfied. My fiancé and I visit Fogama on a weekly basis and basically just can't get enough. I usually start out with a mandarine Cosmo from the bartender Rose and it is ALWAYS on point! The house dumplings and salmon wasabi crackers are also a usual must to start us off but as far as entrées, that varies depending on our mood. I have not once been disappointed and I can tell the quality is top notch. Other reviews have commented on price however you truly get what you pay for. High quality, delicious food. I believe this is the best Japanese restaurant in Westchester. Came here on a tuesday night and the service was very good. We started with the slice n dice which is an amazing appetizer consisting of tuna, yellowtail and salmon - I highly recommend it. They take pride in the freshness of their fish so every bite is absolutely delicious. In particular, the toro was very special. First I did t even know that it had opened. I was told by a friend that it was very good and I should try it. It has an interesting townhouse feel. Sushi bar and tables downstairs and drink bar and tables upstairs. We sat upstairs. The lighting was a bit funky but I think they are going to adjust that. We ordered a ton of food. The owner, Steve, runs a tight business and it filters down to his staff and cooks. I have been to other restaurants that Steve has either owned or operated and you can tell when the owner has a hands-on approach to the daily functions of a restaurant. He works the restaurant floor and greets everyone, his wife, Linda, greets everyone with a smile as you walk in the door. As a sales representative, I have the pleasure of dining throughout the trip-state area and Fogama is in my top 5. I don't go out on a limb much but if you are disappointed with your meal at Fogama, I would buy it for you. That's my highest recommendation. read more
