    Specialty roll menu
    Jess L.

Solid sushi experience. I'd be happy to travel to this spot again. We loved all our speciality rolls. They were innovative, fresh, and not doused in sauce, which can sometimes be the case at other establishments with such a robust speciality roll list. We sat upstairs, which is the main dining area. I dig the high ceilings, especially since they pack a good number of tables into the room. Our waiter was attentive. There was a bit of rush among all the waitstaff, which seemed a little unnecessary, but no complaints with the service.

I went on a dinner night with my son. He wanted to have Japanese food and we decided to try Fogama. The food was delicious. I tried their lettuce wraps . The Chichen was well seasoned and had a great combination of flavors. It is a nice upscale but casual restaurant in the Rye area. I like the ambiance and the service. My son wanted everything on the menu. I ordered the Japanese eggplant dish and it was the best! I will definitely go back to try other dishes.

We got Kanu salad and it was 10% not fresh, you could see it by the color of the salad. When I asked the waitress she promised that it was made just now. But when we started to eat the cucumbers were soft. The sushi rollers were not so tasty as well. So for me, I would skip the place next time.

The ambiance at this restaurant is very basic Asian. The service was friendly and accommodating. I arrived early before opening time and they let me set at the table. I had the sushi lunch. Very good and I will be back.

I have only used this restaurant as a take out. Two times!! I must say it's a real busy establishment. Owners seem super friendly. Talking to all the regulars. The sushi is so fresh! Last time I had the spicy tuna roll, and the chicken lettuce wraps. Today we ordered a few different things. Sushi bullet, spicy tuna roll, sashimi king, seared pepper white tuna roll, spicy mango lobster roll & an eel roll All were excellent.

Yummy sushi and great staff - you can't go wrong with Fogama! The rye roll is my personal favorite, it is mild and has great crunch from the cucumber and crispy salmon, and a nice smoothness from the avocado. The Pork Dumplings were to die for - they are made in house and have a really nice crispy exterior and the pork filling is tasty and flavorful. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, I always love a good meal at Fogama!

Immediately upon sitting down we saw that the prices were insane for what the menu items actually were. We ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer, which was $18 for 4 shrimp. It was very good, but worth it...? I don't know. The sweet potato croquettes had a great texture on the interior and exterior, but absolutely no flavor inside. The dim sum was delicious, but also overpriced for just 4 small soup dumplings. I ordered the stir-fried udon, and the noodles themselves were delicious, but the chicken was tough/overcooked and also had no flavor. The organic grilled chicken was a bit burnt on the outside and too salty. It was a $32 plate for just chicken and a few veggies-- it didn't even come with white rice or anything. For this price point, I'd expect that I'm paying for at least great service. But our waiter left us alone and only checked on us maybe twice the whole time? We were waiting about 15 minutes just to get the check because he'd completely disappeared. The restaurant wasn't crowded, and we were one of just two tables in the section, so I'm not sure why he left us alone for so long. Eventually, two other employees checked us out and packed our food after waiting that long. Overall, it was pretty disappointing and we left wishing we'd just gone somewhere else. I've gone to Japanese restaurants and had the same amount of food (if not more) for better quality, better service, and better price.

We couldn't believe he was still there when we saw him cooking at a different table. Overall, the decor and space haven't changed at all. It well kept with the Japanese theme. Service was great and our waiter was consistently refilling my son's glass. Noise level: high but fun! They still sing happy birthday in Japanese which makes the place entertaining and exciting! Great place for family especially with little kids. So what has changed? Of course the prices which makes sense but unfortunately also the flavor to some of their food. Edo was honestly the best hibachi place back in the days but tonight there were some hits and misses. We always order the combination: steak (filet mignon) and chicken/shrimp every time we come. The combination hibachi comes with a few grilled shrimps as an appetizer, soup, salad, noodles, mixed vegetables, and white rice. Yes, they still toss the zucchini to you to catch which is a great start to any hibachi meal. Soup: (4/5) super light broth with some fried tempura crumbles that floats on top. It used to have a few sliver of sliced mushrooms back in the days but no mushrooms in sight tonight. Salad: (4/5) simple iceberg lettuce with shredded carrots and grape tomatoes topped with their ginger dressing. This hasn't changed and still fresh and tasty. Shrimp: (4/5) used to be more flavorful but still tasty. Mixed vegetables: (5/5) mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini, and onions were tender and were flavorful. I enjoy dipping them into both the hot mustard and ginger soy sauces. Noodles: (2/5) what happened? Bland and lack the savory flavor that we used to love. It used to be the best hibachi noodles hands down so I'm glad we double up the noodles tonight. Super disappointed with the noodles today. Filet mignon: (5/5) thank goodness our steak was tender and super flavorful. Seasoned perfectly and was medium rare as I requested. Fried rice (extra cost): (3/5) good but wasn't great. Just like the noodles, their fried rice used to be so tasty and full of flavor. Unfortunately, today was just good not great. Under seasoned? Chicken: (4/5) chicken was good. It tasted like a lighter version of a chicken teriyaki. We finished off with their complimentary ice cream scoop. Ice cream choices were chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, green tea, and rainbow sherbet. Overall, it's still a great place for dinner with free entertainment. Our chef was young but entertaining. We would probably still continue to come back here but hope they improve their noodles and fried rice recipe.

We arrived just after opening and we were seated promptly. No sooner did we sit we were asked if we wanted drinks and or appetizers. The menu was not even opened at this point. Once we had the chance to look over the menu we then placed our order. Now usually the chefs are very animated and put on a "good" show, well not this time. Even the chef seemed rushed. I had ordered the hibachi sukiyaki and requested medium rare knowing it would be more medium well which is exactly how it arrived. Most of the vegetables were decent but lacked character even the noodles were wanting for some seasoning. As for service, we had to look for someone to top off the water on more than one occasion. The seating is standard eight to grill. Overall the atmosphere was standard issue dim lighting and light background music. It was a mediocre experience and not up to levels I have experienced in the past. I may return in the future but no guarantee.
