The breakfast was plentiful with one hot item and various fruits and bread, yogurt, coffee and juice. The owner greeted me by name every time he saw me. It may not be the fanciest spot I've ever seen, but it's truly operated with love and I felt welcome and at home. The beds were amazing! One thing I'll recommend, which wasn't even an issue with me since I started doing this long ago.. if you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. You can faintly hear noise outside or in adjoining rooms, so if you're a super light sleeper like me, you'll appreciate having them. It wasn't loud or rowdy, I'm just awakened by a change in temperature.

I loved that they rang a dinner bell and had a blessing before each meal, served family style. We traveled with our 1 year old and I was glad I packed some of his favorite foods from home to bring with us (we as moms know our little ones can be picky). Hemlock Inn will gladly provide you with ice to keep items cold and some rooms even have a small refrigerator. The staff here at Hemlock Inn are so attentive and welcoming. The entire night I kept thinking "this is how horror movies start!" Needless to say, I did not get…read moremuch sleep. We booked a bed & breakfast package to take our son to the polar express last December. When we got there, no one was around, but there was a ziplock bag with an envelope pinned to a post with my name on it. In the envelope was a letter explaining that we were the only guests that night and the owners were out of town too, and that there would be no breakfast. We were told our room number and that the key would be in the room. We found the room under the front porch. Walked in to find that we were in the basement with polished rock walls and floors. The floors all sloped down and to the back of the room. There was no key to be found anywhere. We left some luggage in the room, but nothing valuable since we could not lock the door, and left for the polar express. We called the owner and left a message explaining our issues, but did not get a reply. We returned from our excursion late in the rain to a completely dark facility, except for our room. With no way to lock the door, because we had no key, I was very concerned for the safety of my family. I had an empty coke can, so I placed it in front of the door to at least alert me if someone tried to come in. Neither my wife nor I got much sleep. By 6am, we looked at each other and decided just to go home since there was no breakfast anyway. We also NEVER got any sort of credit for the lack of breakfast, but were still charged the full amount. This was the WORST hotel experience I have ever had and feel lucky that I am alive to tell the story. Unless you want the full "Cabin In The Woods" type experience, DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

We had the entire venue to ourselves, and were given permission to "make it our home." The event planning portion of our stay could not have been easier. JoAnn was professional and made us really feel like we were in good hands. All our worries were put to rest and she had answers for all of our questions. We are in no doubt that no matter what happens, our day will go off without a hitch. The wedding venue is all inclusive and priced VERY competitively. It is so nice to be able to just make 4 payments and show up on our wedding day knowing that everything from the DJ to the decorating is done.

After a special breakfast you will be treated to a performance with Craig, a celebrated opera singer, with Karen accompanying him on the piano for a couple of songs. Words can't begin to describe his voice and Karen is an accomplished pianist. Looked forward to that every morning. The breakfasts were above and beyond and served like you are in a fine restaurant. Paul and Mirlin have taken hospitality to a whole new level. Each room is unique and well appointed. We stayed in Claudette, where we enjoyed a comfortable king canopy, a private bath with luxurious towels a beautiful overlook of the property and if I fail to mention the automatic espresso machine, I will be doing a disservice. Honestly, it made a very good cup that I enjoyed immensely. The property is gorgeous, the gardens lovely with plentiful cozy seating on the deep set porch stretching the perimeter of the home, providing optimal viewing for an evening firefly show. While Paul modestly described the four course gourmet breakfast as, "just breakfast", I assure you, it was not! I'm including pictures of one morning's fare. We were treated to what I can only describe as masterful culinary experiences. Each served on fine china, crystal and silver. We felt like royalty and were treated as such! As if all of this were not enough, Paul and Mirlin themselves, were the highlight of our stay. We may have arrived as guests, but I feel we left as friends.
