Chuck and Bryan were so gracious and helpful during our time of grief with losing our best friend Susan. We lost her early morning and Bryan was so accommodating and met us around 8:30am at the office before they regularly open to help us get her there and situated so we could cremate her. We were so blessed to find Austin Pet Memorial Center (APMC) after the loss of our sweet little Zoe! We were so heartbroken over our loss, and our experience with APMC gave us peace of mind and a sense of great comfort! We were able to have a private visitation with Zoe prior to beginning the cremation. It was a single cremation, which is what we so desperately wanted. Zoe was treated with great respect and care during the entire process, as we were. The staff was very caring and sensitive to our feelings. We were able to take her home with us afterwards. I can't say enough about Austin Pet Memorial Center. Dr MacDonald our home euthanasia vet arranged to have the memorial center pick up our beloved dog after being euthanized at home. They arrived early and waited down the street until we were ready for them. Julie was who picked Jezebel up. She was fantastic. So caring. Their service is white glove all the way. They comfortably place the animal in a basket, cover with a soft fleecy blanket and take them away. We were able to pick up the remains with in a day. The presentation upon pick up is beautiful. You are presented with keepsakes, and feel the compassion and care in which Austin Pet Memorial Center presents your pet to you. They offer many services if you aren't lucky enough to have your dog euthanized at home. I highly recommend their service. read more

The difficult day came to put my boxer down - it was a holiday and I had looked up a few other pet memorial businesses to see if any of them could come out. I saw Austin Pet Memorial Center could come out on evenings, weekends and holidays (though they do charge a fee) and called them up. Chuck called me back within the hour and was able to come out when I needed him too. We needed some extra time when they (Chuck and Linda) got there and they were nice enough to wait in their car until we were ready for them to come and pick up our beloved dog. They picked her up in an individual wicker basket and covered her up with a blanket, very respectfully. They had a very calm demeanor and let us know that she would be cremated privately. We got to pick her up the next day - I was relieved because my friends had to wait for over two weeks to get their dog that they had put down at a clinic. They made a little clay paw print for us and put our boxer in a nice red, mahogany box. They're a family owned business and it seems like they genuinely care about pets. I'm grateful for the help they were able to give to us in a difficult time. read more

I was completely devastated at the unexpected loss of my best friend and didn't have a clue where to start, so I called my dog's vet to see what my options were. I didn't like talking about her like she was just some animal because she was our family member, so I looked else where and found Austin Pet Memorial Center. As soon as I called I felt better about my choice, Chuck was kind and thorough and allowed me to call back with my decision. Once they arrived, the guy (I can't remember his name) was instantly comforting and reassured us that losing a pet is a very big deal and they take pride in their service. They just want the customer to feel better during this sad time. My pup was placed in a nice basket with a blanket and they made it a little bit easier to say goodbye. When we picked her up the next day, they were so friendly and comforting. The memorial items were wonderful and I didn't realize that they would help me feel better, but they did, and so did Chuck with his kind words and empathy. I hope none of you Austinites need them for a long long time, but if you do you will discover that the limestone in central Texas makes burial impossible unless you own a backhoe. Our sweet lab Sophie passed away while we were staying in Austin for the holidays, we were very saddened at this unexpected event. We decided to have her cremated before taking her home, it was one of the most hardest day in our lives. Chuck the owner of Austin Pet memorial Center was very kind, understanding and most of all he gave us lots of time to grieve and spend time with her, we never felt rushed. Chuck showed us the whole area and processes, when we left we knew our Sophie was in good hands and we would get back her ashes. There was a problem with staffing, so no one was here for our appointment, we waited an hour and a half after calling and not getting an answer and no way to leave a message, but they were out picking up animals. Once they got here, Shea took good care of us and we had the private cremation that we scheduled. The owner also was very apologetic. This truly is the best service I've ever used!!! About a year and a half ago we lost our cat and decided to go with Austin Pet Memorial Center for the cremation services after an exhaustive online search for a reputable company. I could not have been happier with the results and was amazed at how quick they were to pick up our beloved Stinky after he passed in our home. Chuck, the owner, was extremely polite, courteous and most importantly sensitive to our loss during the entire process. Sadly, we had to make the tough decision to put down our 13 year old Dachshund last night and I immediately thought of Austin Pet Memorial Center. Due to the holidays money is kind of tight at the moment so the after hours pick up fee was a bit out of our budget. I left a message with their answering service to inquire if there would be any way to avoid the fee as we wanted to get the cremation process for Weenie Dog (yes, that's his name) to get started ASAP. Within a matter of minutes I received a call back from Linda, Chuck's wife, giving us options to avoid the fee one of which was meeting their son, Brian, at the facility. Unfortunately Brian had just stepped into the latest Star Wars movie so she said she'd call as soon as he was out which was fine as we wanted to spend a little more time with Weenie Dog before his euthanasia. She actually called back which is almost unheard of in this day and age! We then met Brian to drop off Weenie Dog's remains and he was just as courteous, polite and sensitive as his parents. We sat in the office processing paperwork, taking care of payment and even chatting about the movie for a bit. All the while I felt like I was talking to an old friend and not once did I feel rushed or as if we had interrupted Brian's night even though we probably did. As difficult as it is to lose pets, and in our case what we consider our children since we don't have any of our own, it is comforting to know that Chuck, Brian and Linda are out there to take care of us in times of mourning. Kudos to you all for making this process as easy and comfortable as possible. You all are fantastic, keep up the great work! This review is for the NEW Austin Pet Memorial. This facility which was formerly owned and managed by the Hutchison family is now corporately owned and the changes are not for the better. Pick up times are now limited to early in the day. Yesterday I had to say good bye to my best friend, my soulmate, and APM was not available to pick him up because his euthanization had to be scheduled for later in the day. What was I supposed to do with his body overnight? Also, former owners worked with me on special prices for shelter pets. Many don't know that animals from Austin Animal Center are taken to the dump. I have personally paid for cremations for quite a few shelter animals that as a volunteer, I had become close to. This new "corporate" organization is not willing to work with me to offer a special price for a no frills cremation. I used to sing the praises of APM. No more. It is a sad change and I for one miss the family owned business. Fortunately for me, there was an alternate choice for my baby yesterday and they could not have been kinder. read more

Our beautiful Great Dane passed away and we honestly didn't know where to start. On a Sunday afternoon I started placing calls to the vet and to some Google searched crematoriums. When we ran across APMC it was my last call - everyone else was away for the day or not returning my call. Chuck returned my message immediately and offered condolences from the very beginning. The pricing was wonderful - even though for our child we would have paid whatever was needed - but the most important factor of it all was that they made an emergency house visit to us on a Sunday afternoon. No convincing, no extra-charge, and the care that they provided for Maddie was perfect. I could feel their love and respect and for that we will always be grateful. We received Maddie 48 hours later in a beautiful keepsake and the options they have available to honor and remember her are very appreciated. An outstanding company and family. I can't say enough good things about this company. Our cat was tragically killed and Chuck came to get him and cremated him even though the entire city was shut down during an ice storm. A very, very painful loss was eased by this wonderful service - when it became clear that my sweet cat Xena had lost her quality of life, this cremation service was recommended to me by her vet, Dr. Sara Schaubert, of healingartshousecalls.com. It is the only cremation service she uses, as the caring and respect they employ are of the highest quality. Linda arrived within minutes of Xena's passing, and carried her away, peacefully covered with a soft blanket and placed in a wicker basket for transport. A member of the staff is present with your pet during their cremation - every step of their process is so compassionate. I was able to collect her ashes within a few days and the thoughtful touches included a sympathy card signed by the staff - they are all pet lovers and understand the painfulness of this loss in the lives of their clients. I absolutely cannot recommend this service any more. My best friend's dog passed in a sudden accident while she was living out of town and the vet put us on a 2 week wait to cremate the dog. My friend was on her way back to town to handle it and so distraught that I called around to see what the alternatives were. I found this place online and called. Chuck was so nice and explained how their cremation is different as well as the package you receive memorializing your lost fur baby. We went in this morning and they were very soothing as they explained the process and package to my friend. They gave her time to say goodbye, didn't rush us whatsoever, and also helped us get everything done day-of as she was getting on a flight the next day. We received a call within 2 hours that it had been complete. They walked through all the items, including some wonderful pamphlets and poems on grieving and losing a fury loved one. I recently suffered a sudden, traumatic and unexpected loss of one of my beloved service dogs, Reese, on May 12, 2016. My son called Austin Pet Memorial Center and they came to my home within an hour to pick up her body for cremation. From the moment we opened the door of our home to them, we knew the gentleman at the door understood our pain and how important a beloved pet can be to a family. This business started out of love and we felt that love immediately. They addressed all the important details we needed even helping my remaining dog to understand what had happened. Additionally, her ashes were put in a beautiful urn, an impression was made of her paw print, pieces of her beautiful hair were clipped and more. We are still feeling the pain of her loss and it will probably never go away; however, Austin Pet Memorial Center certainly helped immensely to ease our initial pain. Many thanks to Chuck and Brenda. As painful a day as it was after having our 12 YO lab euthanized, the option of having him sit in storage for up to a week before cremation wasn't OK for us, which was what most of the other services offered. Chuck said on the phone that it might need to be the next day, but when we got there at 1 pm, they were able to complete the cremation by 3:30. They clearly understood what we were going through (their story from their pets explained it well), and made it as good an experience as it could have been. My beloved black lab, Solomon, needed to be euthanized, and my vet didn't make house calls. Because of his size and poor health, it would have been extremely difficult and traumatic to take him to the vet's office. I was greatly relieved to find Austin Pet Memorial Center and Dr. Maggie MacDonald. Dr. Maggie came to the house and explained everything that would happen during the euthanasia procedure. She was so kind and compassionate. When it was over, Chuck with Austin Pet Memorial was waiting to pick up Solomon for cremation. Chuck expressed his sympathy and was very kind and professional. We lost our Golden Retriever, Mojo, last week. It became apparent in the middle of the night on Sunday that he would need to be euthanized. We had previously experienced at-home euthanasia with another pet when we lived in Chicago and were hoping to find a resource to come to our home in Wimberley on Monday. With Mojo in pain and distress, I was in a panic Monday at 7am when I phoned Austin Pet Memorial Center who returned my call almost immediately. They have a DVM named Sara Schaubert listed on their website (healingartshousecalls.com) who provides at-home euthanasia. I phoned Dr. Schaubert and had made arrangements by 7:15am. Dr. Schaubert arrived at 9:30am and helped Mojo cross over and Brian from Austin Pet Memorial Center arrived shortly after to take Mojo for cremation. Austin Pet Memorial Center performed a private cremation and returned Mojo's ashes to us by late the same day in a lovely cherry wood box accompanied by a memorial paw print in clay, a seed packet and condolence card hand signed by the staff. I could not have hoped for a more loving, respectful send-off than Mojo received from these wonderful people. They truly understand the importance of losing a pet and perform a wonderful service. I have to say that I have been disappointed by this service. We had our beloved dog put to sleep in our house and the vet arranged for Austin Pet Memorial to come do a home pick up. They told her (after she was already here) that they were running a little late that morning (we were told by about 10 minutes) after we were originally told that they would be waiting outside during the procedure to avoid delays. They were over an hour late and nobody called to inform us. Having to wait that long beside my euthanized pet was heart wrenching and incredibly uncomfortable. After they finally arrived they told us that they would offer to re-deliver her cremains for a $35 fee since I wasn't able to travel to Buda to get them. After they called and told me she was ready I asked to please schedule the re-delivery and I was happy to pay the $35 fee. The delivery time was the next day at noon. Well, it is currently 2:35pm on the day of the redelivery and I just got off the phone with them because nobody has shown up yet and again - NO phone call to inform me of the very late delay. They told me that they were in Leander (1 town north of us) and they weren't able to make it until close to 5pm! I had to rearrange my schedule today to accommodate the noon drop off and not to mention my 2 little kids have been upset and anxiously waiting the return of our beloved pet for several hours now. It is very disappointing considering the emotional and sensitive nature of this type of service and despite the wonderful reviews everyone else has given them, unfortunately I cannot agree. The "yes, ma'am, I'm sorry" is not enough and am saddened by the unprofessionalism we experienced with an already difficult circumstance. read more
