We unexpected had to make a difficult decision of having to put down our pet at the vet's office on Saturday afternoon. Called this place before we said our goodbyes to our dog. I understand it was after hours, but it prompted me to leave a message and number and the person on call would call. So I left a message. Again, I called around 2 hours later to make arrangements to have our pet cremated and again left a message since I didn't hear from anyone. Going thru the grief and trying to make arrangements for our dog, I have to find another place to make arrangements for our dog. A day later, no one has even bother to call back after leaving two messages. Were making arrangements to take our pet else where. read more

We used The Pet Loss Center because our dog suffered an unexpected cardiac episode and the emergency hospital in Houston uses them for cremation. We were able to call and change/make additions to the basic order from the hospital, and Emily was very sensitive and caring during an extremely difficult time. We got a memory box urn that holds our dog's ashes as well as some wonderful keepsakes we didn't even know we could get (paw and nose prints, hair clippings, glass beads with her ashes blown into them). They also included some wonderful poems in the package. We are grateful that we were able to have these mementos made so that we can honor our beautiful baby that was taken from us much too soon. When you call these folks, you are not at your best, having lost a beloved pet. Emily was very understanding and sympathetic. The entire process was flawless. The two young men who came to collect Emma were very kind. They certainly have a difficult job. Emma was a Newfoundland and I told them a bit about the breed. Yesterday was the second time I have used the services of The Pet Loss Center, and let me just say that this is an absolutely amazing business! Our sweet porch cat passed away unexpectedly and being able to bring her in for afterlife care last minute made the situation a little easier. I called and spoke with Emily who was so sweet and even asked to know our kitty's name, which was very kind and caught me a bit off guard. The person we spoke with when we arrived was so empathetic and caring while we chatted about our cat. We had to say goodbye to one of our cats and The Pet Loss Center was the crematorium used by the veterinarian who performed the euthanization. I was very impressed with the service provided by The Pet Loss Center. The basic urn was a beautiful cherry box with a metal name tag on top. In addition, we received touching "extras" such as a memorial card that had a quote on it and a heart shaped adornment which could be planted for wildflowers to grow. This hole in the wall center tucked in an obscure lineup of other businesses made all the difference in our lives. We had to make the excruciating decision to put our sweet 11.5 year old boston terrier to rest just this past Monday. The vet had a standard cremation service where they were sending our beloved pet. With the intense emotions I was feeling, I started seeking out a pet loss hotline to help me take the next step, and stumbled upon the pet loss center website. I called and a very kind woman answered the phone and provided an understanding and comfort for my grief I'd never experienced. I told her I needed to have more than my amazing dog just coming to me in ashes in a week, that I felt so raw and hanging open, zero closure. They graciously offered to pick up my precious boy and bring him to their center for a viewing just a couple hours later. To know I was going to be able to see my best friend again and say goodbye brought tremendous comfort. One of the guys from the center, Chris, drove from NORTH Austin to SOUTH Austin in Monday afternoon traffic to pick up my baby. Just that alone is invaluable and incredibly meaningful for me. They were emotionally consoling once we arrived, and treated us like we weren't crazy, like most people do regarding losing a pet. They treated our grief with kitgloves and validated the severe pain we were feeling. They placed our sweet baby so beautifully and in his natural pose atop his favorite blanket with a beautiful deep purple blanket over most of his body. They didn't spray tons of froo froo crap on him, so he smelled just as we knew him. And they allowed us to sit with him in a tranquil room until we had the time we needed. To have that time with him was the most healing and important piece of this process. I can't thank them enough for that. They so delicately handled making all the arrangements for us to memorialize him the way he deserved. They even reached out to us throughout the week to check in on our progress as we've been sorting through this grief. These people are true angels who selflessly give their most sincere support, which is exactly what the entire animal medicine business has desperately needed. Our pets are our world, and they acknowledge and support that. We are so grateful for them, and know others will experience the same. read more

We used the Pet Loss Center as it was arranged via Compassionate Pet Vet, who came to our home to give our precious elderly family dog a less stressful, peaceful passing. I highly recommend both Compassionate Pet Vet and the Pet Loss Center for this terrible time in any pet owner's life. It was as smooth, peaceful and dignified an experience as it possibly could have been and even in the end, when our sweet old gal was gone and the Pet Loss Center arrived, our handler was so gentle and compassionate, relaying his own similar experience with his lab as I continued to pet my now deceased dog. They do their best to take care of business (signing forms) while being respectful and giving you space to grieve. They also arrive with a lovely "Moses style" basket and drape a blanket over your pet which just feels like a compassionate and dignified way to say goodbye to a beloved member of your family. We are grateful for their services as we grieved our nearly 14 year-old Irish Setter, Georgia and are told we will receive her cremated remains, paw print and little keepsake fur clipping in a week or so. The Pet Loss Center is the best at what they do. They know compassion, love, and grief through and through. I work at an Animal Hospital who works very closely with the Pet Loss Center, and can assure you that everything they do is done with the utmost respect, gentleness, and care. From providing counseling to grieving families, to at home pick ups any time one is needed. Not only do they do this with kind hearts, but they will go above and beyond for each pet parent to help them through the grieving process. If a pet parent wants a wake and a funeral for their baby, The Pet Loss Center will do that. If a parent wants to sit in the viewing room and hold their baby all day, someone will be right there so you don't have to go through the pain alone. Even if a pet parent wants to be with their pet through the entire cremation process, they will honor that decision to be with your pet until the very end. They provide a beautiful selection of urns and jewelry to honor the life of your pet, and can even have a pet's ashes made into a beautiful painting. I can't say enough wonderful things about The Pet Loss Center. This is an excellent service. We lost our dog unexpectedly. When we went to sleep we thought she had a simple upset stomach, but when we woke up she was gone. It was devastating. We also have a 17 month old son to whom the dog was his best friend. This happened early on a Friday and my husband had to work. We called the Pet Loss Center and the woman on the phone was completely sympathetic and listened to me sob. They arranged for her body to be picked up from our home. They arrived promptly with a beautiful basket with a blanket to put her into. They did it discreetly so my son didn't have to witness it. I don't know what I would have done if I had to put him into a car with her dead body and drive her to a crematory. We picked up the ashes on Monday. They provided us with a paw print and hair clipping in a nicely presented box. For a horrible situation like this, it couldn't get much "better" than our experience with the Pet Loss Center. I would recommend them to anyone in this situation. read more
