There used to be a member of staff that came from Elm St Paediatrics who was wonderful but she's left I think as I last saw her working the desk at the hospital next door. After Covid it was impossible to get an appointment. One time I rang Lake Shore the receptionist told me they don't do any sick visits. It took a few calls to realise she meant that sick visits were only being held at Libertyville! Which is fine, but just communicate that somehow other than a mass email which will get sent to junk! But this call left me feeling disappointed at the level of service being offered and so a lot of my kids' needs went to a local urgent care because they could actually get seen. The doctors are overall good although I resent being patronised and I have left a few appts with my kids, expecting for that appt to be the last. One doctor has been outstanding though and that is Dr Nelson. Unfortunately she is moving out of state. That's a true loss to the practice. I understand 2 new doctors arrive in a few weeks.

Dr. Rappaport and her assistant, Beth, have refined the drudgery of taking a kid to the pediatrician's office by cultivating a relaxed, welcoming, and warm office setting. That approach is central to their patient care. Whether it's for a yearly check-up or a sick visit--the high standards are the same. I believe Beth typically says, "when can you come in?" It's unusual in any business, let alone medicine, to find someone who looks to accommodate my schedule. Once we are there, both Beth and Dr. Rappaport take the time to listen to our concerns. They are in no hurry; I never feel rushed or flustered that I haven't had all of my questions answered. The care is exceptional. Dr. Rappaport has a common-sense approach and impeccable medical knowledge. She's never alarming, always measured, and extremely compassionate. It's clear she is not just a doctor, but also a mother, who relates easily to her patients and their parents. In addition, she has built a marvelous rapport with my boys. She has cared for them since they were toddlers--they are now very active 8 year old twins. She's as thorough with their physical exam as she is with their mental well being; dealing with topics such as bullying. She gives them (and us) clear-cut, age appropriate advise on how to deal with it. I don't typically write reviews, but I was compelled to do so in this case. This is a different style of medicine than I have ever experienced. I'm so grateful to be a part of it, and I believe it's worth letting others know that the run to the pediatrician's office doesn't have to be a frantic, impersonal, or harried experience.

My husband and I (first time parents) brought our six week old son to Dr. Franzia after going through two different pediatricians that provided no solutions to our problems. I called Dr. Franzia's office and was immediately set up with an appointment to see her. Within minutes of observing my son, she diagnosed him and had him on a plan to get him on the right track. My son has a milk protein allergy and acid reflux. She knew what his issues were and knew exactly how to treat them. Dr. Franzia was so positive and supportive to my family. She saw my son for the first time on a Friday and I called her crying the very next day and she was so supportive, so confident that we were doing the right thing for my son and she gave me the confidence I needed and reassured me to stick with our plan and my son would be better in no time. Dr. Franzia and her staff worked with my insurance company (we all know how annoying insurance companies are) and dealt with them to help us with prescription formula for my son because of his allergy. She wrote letters to the insurance company, answered phone call after phone call from us and them. She really goes beyond the average doctor. She is genuine and caring about children, she treats our son like she would treat her own children. I honestly can't say enough about what Dr. Franzia has done for my family. Lake Shore pediatrics abruptly dropped all 5 kids from the practice due to my hesitation to give my oldest daughter a vaccine. They cancelled my other 4 kids well visits and said we could only return for 30 days for sick visits. My kids have some complex medical needs and they left them without any care. I am beyond frustrated. We liked their doctor (Rilina Ghosh) but the practice is run poorly.

Unfortunately, our recent experience left us extremely disappointed. I called ahead to let the office know we were running a few minutes late as a courtesy. When we arrived--within what I understood to be the standard 15-minute grace period--we were told they would not be seeing us. I asked if they could make an exception, given our long-standing relationship and the fact that we did call ahead, but was told very firmly, "We only see patients who arrive on time." What was most surprising was how unprofessional the interaction felt. The receptionist told us we could sit in the lobby, but there was no guarantee when or if they'd be able to fit us in. She also stated that the decision came directly from the head doctor of the practice which was especially disappointing after over a decade of care. We understand that schedules are tight and policies are necessary, but there was no flexibility, compassion, or consideration shown--not even a reasonable explanation that we called ahead of time. It's unfortunate to be treated this way after so many years, and we're now re-evaluating whether this is the kind of practice we want to continue trusting with our child's healthcare.

Many things had transpired and ended in the flooding in July and us being displaced. In the middle of us having to pack our home to move due to the flooding I receive a letter saying (basically) I signed an agreement that I would pay the Dr. bills and I failed to do so. So, because of my tardiness of roughly about 3 months they would no longer keep my son as a patient and I needed to find him another pediatrician. Mind you, I am not trying to argue that not paying your bills is an okay thing to do, I am saying that it is a bit too much to kick a patient to the curb after a bill being unpaid for like 3 months. They never said anything of a past due bill from October and November during our visit in February. They claim to have called about it and sent letters which we never received, when we log into the payment portal it shows the account is current as of May 2022. I have good insurance for my family. They sent it to collection in march and fire us as patients now we have to find a new practice after 16 years of being with this group plus I was a patient there for the first 20 year of my life. Working with a lawyer now it see if anything can be done about their unethical policy. Also let everyone know about it because they did not inform there patients of the their new policy that if you are sent to collection you will be fire as a patient even if you paid the past due bill right away.
