The sesame chicken was just the right amount of saucy, slightly crispy and absolutely delicious. The house lo mein reminded me of noodles from my childhood. They were bouncy, not over-sauced and the meats in them were perfectly cooked. The beef in curry sauce was so fragrant and perfect for lunch and leftovers. The people in this hard-working family are polite and competent and most importantly, turn out fresh tasty food. This is not an exotic restaurant turning out unusual dishes. It is a Cantonese-American restaurant. I come here for their "diet menu"- steamed fresh shrimp with vegetables, wonton soup loaded with home style dumplings and mooshoo pork with pancakes. Bottom line - Fong Xing is now my "go to" Chinese Take Out location! I've given up on the choices in my town and when an opportunity presented itself recently, I decided to take the plunge and try this shop in Ardsley. Moving cautiously, I ordered the General Tso's chicken, the steamed pork dumplings and the Hot and Sour soup. These in my mind would give me a fair first assessment of an unknown location. All three were very good (maybe even excellent?). The soup was flavorful without being too tart and dense with the appropriate vegetables. The dumplings were tender (as opposed to doughy or chewy) with flavorful filling. The General Tso's was outstanding! The chicken pieces were well sized, the fried coating not overly heavy, the sauce sweet and a bit spicy. The accompanying white rice and broccoli completed the dish. Hey, I liked thus so much that I returned for a lunch special the next day! Boneless spare ribs. ith pork fried rice and egg drop soup. Another three "hits"! I'm sure I'll be back before long! You have to understand; this is a takeout place. Don't look for ambience or super-friendly staff. You will often be waited on by one of the hardworking family's kids. These people work hard and what you get is fresh Chinese-American food. Don't look for exotic dishes. What you get is fresh veggies, fresh seafood and fresh meats, stir fried any number of ways. I keep it simple. Sometimes the diet menu when I want to eat clean. If you tell them easy on the cornstarch and oil, they listen. This place had some low ratings, but I decided to give it a try because there were only a handful of reviews and it was the only place open on 4th of July weekend. Their wonton soup was relatively tasty, nicely salted and good wontons. Their chop suey was standard, but I'm always extra apprehensive about ordering it as I find places don't wash their vegetables very well amd I somehow always find a tiny gnat of sorts in mine. Ugh. Their vegetable dumplings were OK. I liked the fluffy wrappers but the filling was definitely flat and may have only been filled with cabbage. We didn't try too many items, but I knew we needed to contribute a review and some pics because very little is known about this tucked away Chinese restaurant. It's standard Chinese American takeout and if that's what you want, this place fits the bill. It could definitely use a thorough deep cleaning as corners were pretty filthy and boxes filled every cabinet or top of fridge up to the wall. Thankfully I didn't really analyze the behind the scenes operations as they seemed to have installed plexiglass to pretect from covid. They also set up a boxed window system (think drive through bank tellers) to pick up food and make payments. I felt like while this protected them, it gave the patron more items to touch. This is my go-to chinese in the area. I've tried Chinese food in White Plains, Scarsdale, and Hartsdale. Surprisingly, there arent as many great Chinese places as I hoped for when I moved here. Found this place about a month ago and it's the only place I'll order from now! Pretty consistent, won-ton soup is great, fried won-tons are delicious, and the orange chicken is a must. read more

We have been buying take out from establishment for several years, as well as before when it was known as Chinatown Kitchen. Last night the Sesame Chicken was the worst I have ever tasted!. Each chicken piece was a tiny nugget surrounded by 1/4" of fried batter. We found two pieces that was pure batter, not even a piece of chicken was in there ! Seems they are trying to make the dish loook bigger by adding fillers! This dish used to be acceptable, but now I would never order this again. So I used to frequent this place once in a while because it was one of the few takeout spots around that excepted credit cards and or debit cards. Most of the time my orders would come out to be $12 $13 $14 and they had no problem. Even if it was under $10 they would normally take you but all of a sudden they are being firm on their $15 minimum so I won't be going here anymore. Pretty good Chinese takeout in Ardsley on 9A. They also seem to be one of the only Chinese takeout spots in lower Westchester that accepts debit/credit cards so that makes it a hidden gem. Prices are fair considering the location. Worth a try. read more

I would give this zero stars if I could... I ordered Sesame Chicken from Fong Xing. My family ate the food we ordered right in their restaurant. Within 3 hours I was throwing up horribly - suffering from all the usual food poisoning symptoms for the next 48 hours. It is tempting to say this could have been from lots of things, but the reality is Xing's was the only thing I had to eat that afternoon. After having had lunch here a few times, I thought I would try it for supper. The moo shu pork was OK but a bit salty. The General Tso's chicken was inedible. It had stale sesame seeds over it and the sauce had a nasty sour taste to it. The chicken wasn't crisp on the outside as though it had been sitting around too long and the sauce was so bad we couldn't even eat the broccoli. We ended up throwing most of it away. I have had this chicken many times at many places and it never tasted like this. I am a big lover of Chinese food and I regret having gone here.
