Food is undoubtedly common Chinese takeout, but definitely an improvement since this establishment changed ownership. Flavor has improved not as greasy or salty as it was with previous owner. Food is prepared in an amazingly timely manner. Service also improved, new owner takes the time to make sure your order is correct. They are also friendly and accommodating to dietary restrictions. Typical takeout spot with just a couple of tables for those munch and run customers. If you're looking for flair and entertainment dining at this spot. I'm not sure what some people expect from Chinese restaurants. A place is charging $6-$10 for entrees, and you're expecting a Michelin star? That's not grounded in reality, and it also misses what these places do best. Young's kitchen is your stereotypical east coast takeout Chinese restaurant. Prices are good, portions are generous, and food comes out unnervingly quick. Service is friendly which is a plus. Have had spring rolls, egg rolls, crab ragoons, shrimp mai fun, broccoli in brown sauce, moo shu chicken, and shrimp fried rice thus far. Everything has at least been a solid rendition of a classic, maybe with the sole exception of the shrimp fried rice; they don't put any veggies or anything in the rice, so it was a bit boring. The shrimp mai fin was the best of the bunch--as well as the American monstrosity known as crab ragoons--but everything has been worthwhile. If you need sauces, you need to ask as they don't give by default unless it comes specifically with a dish. I was tempted to not come here because of the reviews, and happy to say they're overstated. Not worth beating by any measure, however if all you need is a solid Chinese takeout place, this will do the job. read more

No special greeting when enter and no special packaging. You are rushed to hurry and order, then your food is turned out fairly quickly. Oh well. I was too lazy to drive to Bao's in White plains & not going to Taste of China. So here's Young's Chinese, haven't been there since it opened & now I know why. Ordered small Hot & Sour soup, small House Special Lo Mein & steamed pork dumplings to go. Waited about 15 minutes. no problem. Ok got home & opened everything up. Started with the hot and sour soup. Weeeellllll, don't know if the soup was this weeks or last. Everything in that soup just melted in your mouth including the tree ear mushrooms. I guess it's for the denture or gummy crowd. No crunch to anything. Next came the Lo Mein it was passable. Finally the dumplings. The dough looked like alligator skin dough. Bit into one, lots of dough. The filling was ok. I like the way they work hard to provide good food in a quick and efficient manner. Everything tastes very fresh and the vegetables were yummy. They have all the COVID precautions in place and the customers are very respectful of the health concerns. The combination dishes are well portioned. Egg rolls were being hooded to order. Shrimp in lobster sauce had good sized shrimp - no skimping there. Kung Pao chicken had all white meat and well spiced, but not super spiced making it eatable. Not may alternative Chinese restaurants in the area so for my experience I give them a thumbs up. Please continue to support local businesses. I am seeing more and more going out of business. I had some lo mein, an egg roll and some wonton soup. the soup was ok, the wontons left a little, so i wasnt too impressed. Tried them out after years of not going. I used to come here as a kid but I remembered I wasn't a real fan of their food. I ordered over the phone and it took literally 30 secs. The guy on the phone didn't ask for my name but he was straightforward and to the point. I arrived to the store 20 mins after ordering and my food was ready waiting for me. The total was around $10 and I had a pleasant conversation with one of the workers. Came home and I was ready to dig in. The chicken itself is good and they give a good amount just a bit bland. The broccoli was huge and delicious. The rice could've been better it was dry and didn't see many pork pieces mixed in. I would give the food a 3/5 but because of the pleasant atmosphere when I picked up I'll bump up a star. More pork and more seasoning. read more

Haven't tried this place in years and think they had new ownership a couple years back, but never thought to try it again. Someone brought it back with take-out and very surprised at the quality. Better than other long establishments including the one on Main St and this was way better, fresh, not greasy, and tasty. The challenge was the General Tso's chicken and they passed! Very good and not soggy, for take out, that's amazing! Not a lot of choices for Chinese so this is a great option. I find lunch is better than dinner so not sure if there's a different chef for the evening. Will be back again for lunch soon. read more

A Chinese place that does sushi right? Hm, I must try this. I ordered a fantastic roll (no, that was its name) and the seaweed salad for $17 at 10pm on a Sunday night from my cell phone to go. I was about 15 minutes away, and they called me back just 5 minutes after to ask how long I was going to be; they were listed as closed at 10:30pm. When I pulled up at 10:14pm, I was quickly whisked inside to pay, and they locked the doors behind me as I walked out. I was staying in White Plains and I had the sushi bug, so I went back to my hotel to snarf. Turns out, this lovely restaurant with its seemingly deceiving "Chinese and Japanese" food puree works pretty well. The sushi was chock full of fresh fish, spicy wasabi and fresh rice with just the right amount of vinegar. The seaweed salad hit the spot, with a heaping helping for just $5 - it can easily be split between two. Aside from the employees speaking English with a heavy Chinese accent (it took a bit for the order on the phone), I am surely coming back to try the Chinese food, which may be even better. read more

I have been coming here for a few years. Although the food is good, some fried items are too greasy. The reason for the 4 stars is that their soups are excellent. When they closed during the pandemic, I was afraid they may not open again but they did. the quality of the soups has improved. The hot and sour got much better with more vegs that are added at the last minute so they won't overcook and the soup overall is tastier. I want to keep supporting local businesses and they have given me lots of reason to do it. read more

We were refugees from hurricane Sandy forced to relocate to a hotel nearby. We saw that there were more or less favorable reviews for this place and they deliver so we ordered. The food is about the worst Asian/Chinese I have ever eaten. It was amazing to me that in the NY suburbs where you kind of expect a certain minimum standard for Chinese take out that this place is even in business. I'm not too familiar with the other places nearby, but the takeout I had here was barely passable. I got the seafood chow fun. The seafood consisted mostly of crab sticks, a few pieces of squid, shrimp, and maybe two tiny scallops. The noodles were kinda soggy too. I normally never add soy sauce to chinese food, but this kinda needed it for flavor, which is was lacking. The place is very clean for the most part and they get a lot of foot traffic during lunch hours but they will complete your order in record fast time. After living nearby for 2 years, I guess I have come around to Youngs. I would still urge people to avoid the sushi, but their Chinese menu is pretty good. I have gotten delivery a few times when I have been too lazy to walk down to Taste of China, and while I don't think that it is better, it's still good. One plus is that it is located in a shopping center with ample parking, so if you are driving to pick up food it has an advantage there. read more

We order from here about 3x a month but I'm done. This place used to have a courteous phone person but a few months ago a new woman started answering the phone and she is the WORST! She huffs and puffs while I'm placing my order and she talks so fast, its hard to understand her. She talks over me and argues throughout the call and then I have to repeat myself multiple times because she keeps talking over me. She actually answered the phone " Yeah" instead of saying the restaurants name. I said, "is this Youngs Chinese" and she ignored the question and said "what do you want?" REALLY????? Many times she has hung up on me when I ask her to repeat the order which is a necessity with the way she handles the order. Then the final kicker is the delivery guy who feels the need to RAPIDLY ring the door bell 3x every time! We often order after the kids are in bed and this wakes the whole house up! Starving says my stomach- well more like angry loud growling that warranted an unplanned exit from the freeway to find some place nearby where i could satiate and placate. Quick park and spot this place. Decent yelp reviews which is encouraging. Step in and see slightly faded pictures of various Chinese dishes and an uber cheese sauce pic for the sushi (geisha with umbrella included in pic!). But it looks clean and the servers seem friendly. Hubs and I grab me menus and peruse. For 6.25, lunch specials abound. We finally decide on the chicken with Bok Choy for him and the mixed veggies for me. We also both opt for the pork fried rice that comes with the meal (choice of fried or brown rice included). Wow! evyerhitn comes out tasting delicious and flavorful! surprisingly good-and my husband manages to enjoy his veggies! the fried rice was oily, as expected but not overly greasy.
