Honest mechanic I recently visited Rick's Automotive for an A/C tune-up and needed him to look at a few other issues. Rick fixed my A/C and referred me to other places that could do some of my other repairs faster/better (for example, I needed a front end alignment and he sent me to a tire place). I am somewhat clueless about certain aspects of cars because I had a long time trusted mechanic who has scaled back. So I really appreciate Rick's honesty. He's also within walking distance of the Enterprise Rental Car in Mableton, so if you really need to drop your car off and go to work (but don't have a ride), Enterprise is a good option. read more

They said my truck had a blown head gasket and would cost $10K to fix it! I took it another mechanic who literally changed the oil and said I was good to go. Not sure who or how they are evaluating the initial damage or repairs but I do not recommend this business at all. read more

Word of advice---do not patronise Rick's Automotive services. If you like price gouging, a lack of transparency, and fraudulent estimates, well Rick's Automotive is the right place. For example, the first estimate Rick provided to replace a transfer case on my Porsch Cayenne was $995 for total labor, and $295 for diagnostic. After I shared with Rick's that I had a car warranty through CarSheild (CS), Rick's immediately and astronomically gouged the price to 7K. CarShield purchased and provided the transfer case for a cost of $2600. Ricks then lowered the price to an out of pocket cost for $4600? When I questioned them about the ridiculous price gouging he lowered the out of pocket price to $2600. Later on in the week the price dropped to $1600. After having my Porsche for a month and two weeks, I consulted with CarsSheild (CS) to cancel Rick's horrible services. CS agreed that it was in my best interest to sever ties with Rick's. I shopped around and found several auto mechanic shops that gave me guaranteed estimates for transfer case total labor for $800. No out of pocket. My CS warranty covered the entire bill. I called Rick's to cancel services. Rick explained that he had to charge me $400 dollars to get my truck back. When I asked Rick what was he billing me $400 for? Rick's reply..."I'm billing you $400 for telephone labor...for calls made to CarSheild". What a serious A-hole. I had to contact legal counsel for advice. I will also be filling with the Better Buisness Beareau. If anyone of you require proof of why you shouldn't patronise Rick's Automotive, I'll gladly share all the recorded conversations along with the ever changing, mysterious fraudulent estimates Rick shared with me. This establishment is the best!!! First my starter went out a couple of months ago so I had my car towed to this shop because its very close to my house. The turn around was great. The price was excellent and Rick, the owner of the shop is very honest about your car and his recommendations. With that being said, this past Monday my car stopped accelerating on 20 going to work. I knew where it was going next. I got my car back yesterday and im pleased again with my choice of mechanic. Honest, quick and very customer friendly. Rick Automotives have a customer for life. IF YOU SEE RICK'S AUTOMOTIVE ITS BEST TO KEEP GOING I stopped by Rick's Automotive one day to inquire about my 2013 Cadillac with a no crank no start no communication issue, and explained that my car will start when I jump my starter relay though. They told me they can put a scope on my data lines and run down the problem for $295.00 and I said ok. I had my car towed to their shop on a Friday. That Monday Rick called me and the price doubled, and he even suggested it may cost me in the thousands. I told him I would come get my car. He told me I owed $147.00 because they were able to determine that my car will start after being bypassed. Wait a minute, that's information I had already given them, plus, they never used a scope on my data lines. Though I had my car towed there I gladly had it towed back. So glad I took my car to Ricks! He is beyond honest with quotes and repairs. I have an older car and was giving off a weird alert and the engine light was on. He checked my car thoroughly, I was given an estimate and parts were ordered. I dropped my car off this morning and by 2pm Rick called me to let me know they did not need to use all the parts they ordered and reduced my estimate in HALF! Do not take you car to RICK AUTOMOTIVE I came in for a sensor replacement on my bmw and after they diagnose the car they call me and want it to replace my valve cover wish is brand new and they call again to replace the sensor and quoted me 1250.00$ and I agree to get it fix and they made me pay full balance before the car was even done they have my car for over a month to come to find out they reinstalled the valve cover wrong and it was leaking so they decided to take to bmw cause they didn't know what they were doing after bmw fix the valve cover now the fuel pump is a problem that another 810$ I didn't mind paying for but they call me last minute and say they not gonna fix it and they will give me back my car halfway done after picking up the car I found out that their is a lot of parts missing they didn't put the parts they removed to fix the sensor I'm missing covers and screws this mechanic shop will scam you if don't know much about car I don't recommend anybody to use RICK AUTOMOTIVE they lie and wast your time and money and not fix your problem plus have you car looking a mess with a hole lot of parts missing read more

DO NOT,I repeat DO NOT go to ricks.I went here to get my car checked and all of a sudden when it was time to leave my car wouldn't start. The owner Rick kept pushing for me to pay $360 to get a new starter that day. I couldn't get it done that day. I left and stopped at the store and what do you know my car wouldn't start at all. I had been to three other places that day but I don't find it to be a coincidence that after I left ricks my car wouldn't work anymore. I got another mechanic to come out and they told me it was most likely that they(ricks)replaced my starter relay with a really bad one so that my car wouldn't start. I don't need a new starter my starter is perfectly fine and it only cost $100 for a starter relay. I guess that's why rick told me it was my starter so he could make an extra $260 off of me. One word can sum up my experiences with Rick's Automotive trustworthy. I first brought in my car in Oct 2018, I was having an issue with the car's air conditioning and the key fob. Rick did a diagnosis on the car and the air was working. He also gave me excellent advise on replacing my key fob. I then brought in my car again in Feb 2019 as I failed the emission test. Again, the issue was repaired and this time Rick took a look at my key fob (I hadn't replaced it) and noticed I just needed another face. That saved me over $200 on getting a replacement key fob!! I highly recommend Rick's Automotive they are extremely knowledgeable and will give you the best options for repairing your car. This is the first automotive shop I completely trust. read more

This place is a total scam. I took my car in for an exhaust leak and alternator issue. they charged $150 diagnostic fee, didn't even send me the pictures I asked for, and quoted me $1400 to fix both problems, plus $200 for a battery. $200 for a battery? it's like $50 at autozone. How dumb do you think I am?They didn't itemize their estimates either, because they were padding them by more than 100%. I asked for that too, never provided. Basically told me the car wasn't worth it. I know a bit about cars, enough to know the prices they were quoting me were ridiculous. I told them that, they didn't care. I had to get my car towed again, 6 minutes down the street. New shop quoted me $500 for both problems. about 1/3 what Ricks did, still waiting to see if i even need the new battery that Rick said I did. SInce he was making roughly a 300% markup on the price he quoted me im guessing not. Not sure if their play was to convince me to just abandon the car with them cause they knew I was out of state, or if they were just trying to make some extra money off someone they thought didn't have options, but do not trust these guys. they will rip you off the second you turn your back. Incidentally, this is the second car Ive brought there, the first they sort of fixed and charged me a bunch of money. I trusted them at the time, now I wonder. TOTAL RIP OFF! I had a check engine light. Turns out it was a loose timing chain. I could feel it driving a little different and could hear it. Rick drove it and said he DIDN'T feel or hear anything. They did the replacement chain. and said it ran fine for a moment then the motor locked up. He tried to blame me for it. He tried saying the motor was bad anyway. How can it run "fine for a moment" (just as it had been before the timing chain issue), then after you ruin the motor you blame everything except the guy that worked on it?? I talked to the mechanic that worked on the car. He said he cleaned out the motor by pouring dirty motor oil over the engine and let it drain out the bottom. I know it had to be dirty because oil is expensive. No one would ever waste that much fresh oil. Then I questioned him about why didn't he remove the oil pan like a normal human would do. He then said "it would have taken me about 5 hours more", and tried to say he was saving me about $500-600 (I didn't ask anyone to save me a dime!) So he blew and washed junk into my oil pan and left it. It got sucked up into the motor and locked it up. He didn't consult with me about the removal or none removal of the oil pan. He did it on his own and ruined the motor. Then Rick had the audacity to say he is doing me a favor by finding another motor for ME to pay for and pay him to install it! They have a totally lack of knowledge and try to take short-cuts that ruin people's automobiles. I would advise any and everyone to NEVER go there!! read more
