As you move the noodles around, you can see all the liquid collect and pool in the empty space. It, honestly, looked like a giant bowl of ramen. I guess a positive point would be that their serving size is quite generous and the shrimps were huge. As disappointing as it was to not have received my Spaghetti and red clam sauce, if I had truly intended to order this mystery dish, I would have been super bummed out at the quality and a little confused as to why they sent Ramen and not Spaghetti. This place is truly hit or miss! There are times that the food taste fresh, for example, the chicken wings are crispy, the pizza is fresh without dragging cheese, the mozzarella sticks are cooked all the way and the garlic bread is toasted just right. On the flip side, you can get a pizza where all the cheese has ran to one side, anything fried is rather soggy versus crispy/fresh or the garlic bread lacks garlic and butter. Some positives things I can say for one is that my order has never been messed up. Usually we order via grub hub and the delivery never takes too long as they deliver within the time window provide. For the bad, I only order from this restaurant because there is a lack of variety on this side of Jersey City. If a decent place were to open that provide high quality of food, it would have the potential to GAIN A LOT of business from frustrated residence in the area. read more

To start they have a very extensive menu which is terrible for the food to be so bad. I thought I would play it safe and get a philly cheese steak. It took MORE THAN 2 HRS for my pizza to arrive for delivery and I only live 2 miles away from the restaurant. Lady answering calls lied to us several times and kept putting me "on hold" and kept picking up other calls (she forgot to mute herself so I heard everything). I called and ordered a pie and they told my eta was 40 mins. After an hour, I called to ask where my order was. The lady taking calls told me it was a minute away. 20 mins later I called again, and she said she didn't know where the driver was and would call back in 2 minutes. She did not. I called AGAIN and told her I wanted to cancel my order because at this point I was almost 2 hours in and my guests needed to leave soon. She told me it was literally a minute away...again. Did not come. The last time I called I told her to cancel my order and all she said was "he is in front now" (he wasn't). 10 min after the call, the delivery guy shows up in front of my door. I told him we cancelled our order because we waited more than 2 hrs and my guests all left. He apologized and took it back. Luckily I was going to pay in cash but if I had paid with my credit card, I would've been charged and they wouldn't have cancelled my order when I told them to. read more

I love Fontana. In the past couple of months I've ordered from Fontana's a bunch of times. They tell you upfront that delivery will be close to an hour, which is fine, but it usually gets here much sooner, which is great. The delivery guys are super nice, really friendly, personable, and professional. Their pizza is probably the best I've had locally. The crust is perfectly chewy. They put the toppings UNDER the cheese, and for some reason that gives it just the best flavor. Everything is fresh and made to order. Delivery went over the estimated time given. When the food arrived there were no utensils, napkins, etc. Delivery instructions specified that we were at a pool. When we called the place they insisted that we need to tell them we need napkins and utensils. The food here is delicious and the staff is super friendly. We often bring a big church group and they have a room in the back where we can eat and enjoy each other's company. They have been in the community for many years. They put a chain pizza store that opened up on the same block out of business, so it goes to show you how good they are. I ordered over $67 worth of food, it took approximately an hour for the food to get here, when the delivery guy Ring My Bell he left before I could even get down the stairs. I called the restaurant, the delivery guy came back approximately 15 minutes later. I received cold Pizza, additionally part of my order was missing. I ordered chicken parmesan with stuffed shells, which did not come. I called the restaurant after being hung up on twice, I finally got someone who said they will send it out, By the time it got here, it was cold and the chicken was like rubber! I ended up throwing out the food, I placed this order off of GrubHub. I advise grubhub of what happened. I went to Fontana's on Valentine's Day with my family as we had just attended my niece's basketball game in nearby Marist High School. We ordered Mozzarella sticks, and fried calamari to start, then ravioli, a heart shaped pizza pie, and a gyro. Each food item was delicious with great portions. I used to order from here all the time when I lived in Bayonne. It was by far the best pizzeria around. All of their food is excellent! The grilled chicken wrap is delicious!!! I've also ordered the cavatelli with broccoli and the chicken parm dinner. My husband loves the stromboli!!! My brother still lives there and he orders so often they know his phone number when he calls, he doesn't even have to give them his address!!! I placed an order through Grubhub at around 10:50 p.m. on Friday, with an estimated delivery of 11:40 p.m. I received a confirmation email, which means that the restaurant accepted the order. I waited until 12:30 before I tried to call the restaurant to see what's going on, but the restaurant was closed by that point. So I called Grubhub to complain and had to scramble to find something else to eat at that late hour. I had to call Grubhub 5 different times throughout the week because Fontana's had the audacity to challenge my request for a refund and actually claim that I received my food. I am beyond pissed off at them and will never order from them again, which is a shame because I genuinely enjoyed the food from there and was a good customer. However, I can't abide by them leaving me high and dry and then refusing to make things right. read more

Have eaten here several times before with good results- very good food generally. Unfortunately this time there is a very very high chance I got food poisoning from their rushed order. Sick the next day for three days (vomit, etc) (still sick 'down there' today). The entire order was horrible and poorly made- serves us right for ordering right before they close I guess- they clearly rushed out all the food- fries were soggy, wings were mushy, and there is a very very good chance the burger got me sick. (Nobody else got sick and they didn't eat it). Small chance it was something else but the timing adds up- about a day later- started feeling sick the next morning, was bedridden 24 hours later, fast onset vomiting (read: norovirus). So alas I cannot order from them anymore and I caution you to re-consider ordering from here. read more

Great pizza - price is a bit high for Bayonne, but I have to pay toll to go to Denino's in Staten Island, so it's ok.

The food is good, everyone in the establishment is friendly; no problem there. However, there is a problem when you place an order via delivery.com at 8:11pm, call at 9:05pm to add a drink but are told your order will be there in 5 mins, call back at 9:30pm to check on the delivery only to be told that it was an error and your order will NOW be there in 5 mins!!! Sighs... listen... I get that they are busy; the food is good and I will buy from them again. But to take 90 mins to deliver 6 pieces of shrimp, a house salad, a slice of cheesecake and a 7Up is a bit much. I have one request: be a bit more timely . Other than that, I will only buy from them when I can actually walk in to pick it up. This is the 4th time my delivery was a bad experience which is why they are -2 stars from me. read more

Came here because we had a restaurant.com certificate. We sat at a table to dine in and were not greeted for at least 10 minutes. The waitress was nice but distracted with a family party in the back. I assume it was the owners family as every one was so familiar. We ordered fried calamari and the Fontana special pizza. The calamari was not good. It was very large adult pieces that were tough. I prefer the small tender pieces. The marinara was good. The pizza was not good either. The toppings were onion, pepper, sausage,pepperoni and extra cheese. The pizza came out "rare" and was very unappetizing. Turned out very sloppy. When we went to pay and give our restaurant.com certificate the owner said they do not accept them. After a bad meal this was almost too much to take. After haggling he did take the credit off of our tab but it was still a pretty terrible experience. read more
