It's also convenient that they have a fried chicken restaurant on the side of the elevators for anyone who preferred to eat before or after shopping or even take it to go. Food Bazaar is well organized and clean. There's so many departments. Fresh produce, appliances, cooking equipment. I checked out some of my favorite foods and I didn't think prices were any different than my neighborhood. There's a lot of sale items. I let my daughter do the shopping. Rockstar Chicken is by the exit. I'm waiting for her to shop and Rokstar to open. We are going to take our food home. Visiting this market was fun but I don't believe I'd ever shop here. The selection here is absolutely incredible. I am very impressed with their produce sections. They have a regular and an organic. While I don't mess with organics stuff, they seem to be pretty popular because there are always way more people there than I see at whole foods. I'm usually in here for coconut water. They have an abundance with Pope without Pope, pineapple, flavored, lime, flavored and more. They have imports from the Caribbean and from Thailand. It really is spectacular! The lighting is great and it doesn't feel like you're in a fluorescent hell like some other places. Lots of woodsy undertones and ambient lighting really make it a pleasurable experience. read more

Just visited this Harlem Food Bazaar for first time. Compared to the Bronx Terminal Market location, this bright, relatively organized store was much more a shoppable scale... although it's a little far away from where I live. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised at the breadth of its impressive selection beyond every day major brands - especially with specialized produce, meats and seafood that may be useful for global ethnic cuisines. In the Produce section, that includes several different Korean mushrooms, banana leaves, lemongrass, 3 different fresh habaneros, fresh red and yellow beans, sugar cane, etc. In the Meat section, you'll find mainstream meats plus assorted goat options that include various burnt goat parts, actual pig heads, hard chicken, rabbit, and (yes) guinea pigs! The Seafood/Fish section even sells assorted fish parts and other cuts. Importantly, something that has been lost in recent times in smaller supermarkets, especially in the city, but not here! Food Bazaar Harlem's Seafood and Meat ("Butcher Shop") Departments can provide custom cuts to order. Similarly, the Bakery prepares custom cakes, as well as offers a range of fresh macarons. All that being said, while you may find good deals at Food Bazaar, especially if you use the app, there are some items you may find priced less elsewhere. It puts Fine Fare and many other uptown grocers to shame. While personally it's not a location convenient from my place, (where I can easily walk to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Target and Lidl,) if you do live nearby, definitely would recommend checking this Food Bazaar out! read more

Stopped by Food Bazaar while I was in the area. Surprisingly, produce and meat prices were very reasonable! It was organized, clean, and well light! Appreciated the variety of groceries, with a good amount of Latino brands and Carribean spices, and a sprinkle of Asian foods. Wow, the Food Bazaar market in Harlem is excellent! No one can say there is a food desert here in Harlem, with the volume and variety of offerings here. The prices seemed reasonable for the most part and the produce was fresh and plentiful. They have an entire area of the market just for seafood, fresh and frozen. All the meat and poultry is there. It's a big supermarket on the second floor and they have plenty of prepared foods and party trays available. You want ice cream, take your pick. The only downsides are the layout and the lines at the registers. The layout is good for the most part, but it can be confusing in some respects. Baked goods could be consolidated better. It's a big market, so it may take time to learn the layout. However, they could open more registers. The lines are not dramatically long, but the lines will be an issue for customers watching how much they can afford and waiting in line for each transaction to conclude behind other such customers. This is the challenge and consequence of locating in a neighborhood that has seen better days, but highly welcomed. Four stars and a great addition to the community. It is bright, clean, with a lot of food well displayed. The quality and freshness are evident and the prices appeared reasonable from my purchases and what I observed. read more

Been visiting this supermarket since Easter weekend and it has not failed us yet. The fruit is always fresh and not ridiculously expansive. Their vegetables are bountiful and plenty. They are always stocking their meat when we go at different hours of the day so it's fresh. Plus there is a great variety of different types of ethnic food which gives us a wide selection to pick for dinner. The staff are always working in keeping the place neat and fully stocked. Their also very helpful. We thought it was only this one location but while in Long Island, we needed some last minute groceries and again - same quality and same excellent selection. Staff was also great. With supermarkets now a days in the city lacking, Food Bazaar picks up the slack and services its community with quality, quantity and respect. Go check it out. The meat department service is the worst, today 3/1/2025 at 10:30 am the person in charge of helping customers that buy in bulk meat cutting and packaging your meat you bought in bulk. He was bothered and dismissive, the meat cuts he made were done in a malicious manner making me loose weight in my product. The honeymoon is over. This place was amazing for the first 2 weeks after the grand opening. Tons of fresh, cheap seafood, and meats, clean store, and amazing sales. Now, its over. Food bazaar is a relatively new market in East Harlem. I was excited once it opened its doors. Prices are a fairly standard for the area. The market itself is fairly large. My main issue is the checkout process. There's always long lines when I go and for some reason for the past few weeks the self checkout Lane has been closed down. Every time I come here the grocery items are excellent. The only thing that bothered me was how there were long lines of people waiting to purchase groceries and only 3 cashiers were working on shift and an encounter I had with a Spanish cashier who I was purchasing my groceries with didn't even know how to operate the cashier box and was nothing but plain disrespectful and ignorant towards me and as a Spanish person myself I was just disappointed with her behavior. The security here is very rude, unprofessional and disrespectful!! Yesterday I got followed by a security guard, as he called for my attention and because I had headphones in my ear I couldn't hear him. When he reached me, he started talking to me in a very disgusting and disrespectful manner, calling me a stupid bitch because I wasn't obeying his disrespectful authority. Every time I attempted to turn away and proceed with my purchase (I was only there for tortillas), he continued to run his mouth and step in my face like he wanted to do something. I asked for the manager on duty and the head security and no one did anything but surround me and tell me to calm down (AS THE RUDE SECURITY GUARD WAS STILL STANDING THERE AND RUNNING HIS MOUTH). He even called me a bitch as I finally left the supermarket. This is not the way to treat a consistent paying customer. Food Bazaar said the security is from an outside source, but this is how you allow your security to treat the customers that are helping you pay your rent? That security guard should have been pulled to the side or in the office and not walking around the supermarket with me, still harassing me, while the other guards want me to "calm down" .. I will never return to this location as the management team is just as rude, careless and disrespectful as the security team they employ. I shop here regularly, 2-3 times a week. On Tuesday around 6:30pm, I walked into the store to see if they had a soda I like in-stock. I had just left Aldi and Target, so I had a reusable Aldi shopping bag on my shoulder. They did not have the soda I was looking for, so I turned around and walked out of the store. As soon as I got on the escalator, two security guards started shouting after me to stop, and began running down the steps next to the escalator to chase after me. I waited for them at the bottom of the stairs, where they then began accusing me of stealing. I told them a dozen times I had just left another store, and they told me that "because I didn't leave from the checkout area" I was being searched. I told them I didn't leave through the checkout area BECAUSE I DIDN'T BUY ANYTHING and they then asked for my receipt. I told them, again, that I didn't have a receipt BECAUSE I DIDN'T BUY ANYTHING and that's when they asked to see my receipts from other stores. I told them that would not be happening and asked for both of their names, which they refused to provide. I have contacted corporate several times and have not heard back yet, so I wanted to make this public before another one of their customers gets treated like a criminal. They could easily watch their cameras and see who's stealing, but instead they want to stand and converse by the escalator so they can chase after innocent people. I WILL be shopping there again and if this happens again it will be much more serious the next time around. This is a clear and direct violation of my rights as a customer and I will not tolerate anyone being treated this way. read more

The big new food store in the area (East Harlem E201,125 st) was much needed. I came to this store at least a dozen times from other area (20 blocks down). I consider myself a quite demanding shopper, but fair in my assessments of NY businesses. Here are my observations: Negatives: 1) the store is too huge and not well marked if you are trying to find something specific you need, the store's staff many times do not know either; 2) yes, the prices are comparable with Whole food, Trader Joe, etc, even higher, i.e. organic items and not of the best quality. Recently, I had to throw away a small bag of tiny avocados, for $6, all rot. Some other items also highly overpriced, 4 cans of German Bittburger beer here $9.99 while in Whole food $5.99! 3) cashiers mostly with sour indifferent faces and not helpful, just the opposite in the same category at the Whole food and Trader Joe's stores; 4) no real discounts, store cards, etc...I bought in last 10 days items for more than $600 when my family came from Europe to visit me for the holiday season and when I was asking about discounts, I was referred to a box with totally useless coupons in a hidden corner; Positives: 1) A great place for fish meals lovers, a big variety and fresh fish, still reasonably priced, this is the main reason why I will come again to the store, the same is true for meat and cheeses; 2) Excellent Italian baggets, fresh, tasty and well priced; 3) Long hours, though after 6-8 pm, I would not feel safe in this area; 4) not too long lines before paying for the merchandise. Conclusion: this store should pay more attention to attract permanent clients, even from other areas than East Harlem, given that it is not probably paying the prime areas rents, it should be more flexible with its prices, a better custom service, and in particular not opt soon for a very much deplorable gimmicks...i.e. hook and switch the already high prices! They should leave the neighborhood!!! I was happy to see this place open so I don't have to walk all the way to Whole Foods. It was good before the Grand Opening. Seems like they perhaps don't like the neighborhood they're in and only learned of their neighbors after the grand opening. On Friday morning I ran over to the Food Bazaar for a jar of Nutella. Because truly, what's a Friday morning without a little indulgence after my morning cardio? I checked out with my Nutella- receipt and Nutella in hand and I'm trying to avoid doing the "I'm going left I'm going right. Oops no lemme go left again dance" with the security guard. But he attempted the dance anyway. Chile! I ain't got time, so I was going to walk around him. He then takes a big step in front of me to block me from exiting. Now; I look up at him because I don't know what game he's playing...but it doesn't feel safe. Before I could say "excuse me," he roars "do you have a receipt???" The gotdamn receipt is in my hand. Not to mention he saw me walk from the register and fumble to put my cash and receipt away. I even dropped a $5 bill and had to turn around to pick it up. Yet, he's demanding a receipt. So now listen, I'm a lady so I didn't react how he deserves; no, naw I kindly started to unfold my receipt like the southern lady that I am and responded he could wait until I've finished unfolding the receipt when he demanded I "just give it to [him]." I will be returning to Whole Foods where it doesn't smell like a farm, I'm not met with silent accusations, and I can burn a few extra calories before indulging. In Urban development we often talk about businesses refusing to open in Black and Brown neighborhoods because they don't believe the neighborhood has the economic or social standing to patronize the businesses but guess what? If you don't have the tolerance to respect the neighborhood y'all are going to fail anyway. And many of the items are more expensive than Whole Foods where most of the food items aren't in boxes. DO NOT SHOP HERE‼Trader Joe's will be open soon anyway. Maybe the store doesn't know they pay Black people to work now so we have autonomy over where and how we spend our money.
