L10. Sweet and Sour Chicken Combo S5. Orange Chicken 63. Hot and Spicy Szechuan Chicken
Katie N.

Food King is our local go to Chinese restaurant for takeout. The food is always hot, fresh, and well packaged with plenty of sauces and fortune cookies. I particularly love their sweet and sour chicken and this time I also tried their szechwan chicken (mild spice level). The szechwan was packed with stir fried veggies and chicken and the sauce was just the right spice level for me. I also regularly order the orange chicken which is always crispy and coated in a sweet and citrusy sauce. You may find some orange peel in the sauce which is just an indicator to me of the freshness and flavor of the sauce. I've ordered pick up and delivery orders and the service has always been fast and orders accurate. If you're craving Chinese takeout, Food King is a great choice!

Great service! Fast and authentic Chinese food to fulfill any craving! Me and my sister will definitely be back for more! (PS you NEED to try those spring rolls!)

Three stars for food & one for courtesy. On a whim, I decided to try this restaurant for their lunch special. I saw that Yelp had no real current information but thought I'd chance it anyway. At the time there was just one gentleman who took the order and cooked. He was very polite and gracious. I ordered the orange chicken with fried rice & a spring roll. The spring roll was small, but so fresh & flavorful tasting and crispy. I would go back just to order a few of those. My lunch container was filled to the brim! I felt the rice was a bit bland for my taste but there was plenty of sauce on the chicken to compensate for that. The kitchen is right there in the open so you can watch them prepare your food, which is a good thing Of course the restaurant itself is extremely basic. I wouldn't mind sitting there for a quick lunch but I had my food to go. I will post photos of the current menu since there was nothing on here that was up-to-date. Pieces were kind of dry so I'd like to come back and maybe try a beef and broccoli with lo mein, or some sweet-and-sour chicken. Thank you Food King for your kind service.

Crab ragoons

I decided to treat myself to some Chinese food for dinner at Food King. This is a small Chinese takeout place in a strip mall off of E 86th street, but I ordered through Uber Eats. I have driven past the restaurant and looked inside, and does not appear to be much impressive ambiance wise from the outside. As far as the food is concerned, it is decent and tastes good. I ordered the crab ragoons since it was a buy one, get one free special through Uber Eats, and the sweet and sour chicken. The crab ragoons were delicious, but nothing to write home about to your parents. The sweet and sour chicken is the same, but tasted great. This was definitely comfort food and Food King delivered that to me with great expectations. If you are looking for simple Chinese food for a nice dinner, Food King is the place to go to for your needs and wants. If you are looking to have your mind blown away with an incredible meal, then I would advise you take your money elsewhere. You will not get that at Food King.

So far so good. Food King is your typical Chinese restaurant a coworker told me about. I'm accustomed to East coast flavor and Food King provides me that. I feel like I'm part Asian and I am always looking for Asian cuisine as my comfort food and I'm always on the look for a great place to satisfy my craving. They have a pretty good list of lunch items for a great price. I couldn't decide between the general tso's chicken and the Szechuan chicken but ended up getting the Szechuan because it had veggies (trying to end 2018 on a healthy note). I've gotten it twice and have been satisfied both times. I wish the sauce had a teench more flavor but it's good. I think I'll try the general tso's chicken next time. Potions are really nice. Their dinner portion was enough for two meals for me. The staff is friendly. The lady was able to tell me about my order history; I guess they keep track of your orders based on your phone number. I liked that because if I don't remember-they will. So it'll be on my list; probably a place I'll visit often.

General Tso Chicken and Crab Rangoon
Aaron H.

This place is great for quick Chinese food! I ordered the General Tso chicken and Crab Rangoon's. The chicken was good with some pieces being a little tough. Rangoons were awesome and had a good amount of filling. My only recommendation would be getting vegetable fried rice rather than whatever comes with it. I couldn't identity the type of meat cooked in the rice (the white item in bottom left of pic) but it was my least favorite part. The drastic color difference made it questionable. Ordering was easy over the phone and it was delivered in 20 minutes. They take care over the phone and you have to give them a tip amount here. The receipt does not have the fill in the blank option. Would recommend for your Chinese cravings!

General Tso's chicken. Just okay.

This highly rated little…read moreAsian cafe is located inside an IU medical building and serves mostly medical staff and patient visitors. The good Yelp scores are well deserved. I loved the food prepared by one cook, who did it all. First, I had trouble finding the cafe. The entrance is on the Northeast side of the building. There are no signs outside. The cafe is on the right as you go through the doors. The menu, on a board over the counter offers rice and noodle bowls, ban mi sandwiches, spring rolls and several soups. Breakfast and lunch options are available. I ordered the spring rolls and hot and sour soup at the counter and paid. Food takes a few minutes to prepare and then the order is called. The shrimp spring rolls are huge and amazing, served with a delicious peanut sauce. The cilantro was fresh and aromatic. The hot and sour soup was very good, too. The hot soup was packed with veggies including wood's ear mushrooms. A steady stream of medical staff came in and ordered their favorites without looking at the menu. Prices are great. A banh mi sandwich is $8. There are four cafe size table to eat inside. Most people take their meals to go. There is plenty of parking outside in the dedicated lot.

It's missing a more fragrant (star anise, clove, cinnamon, peppercorn) broth that I'm used to for pho, but the soup is great for being a chicken based broth. Everything was fresh tasting. The soup had Thai basil, cilantro, sliced onion, basically all the appropriate accompaniments. No bean sprouts, which is the way I like it. And I love the added touch of fried shallots. Yes it's not traditional, but imparts a great flavor. I also like how there is no hoisin sauce provided to suggest it should be added. The soup is great as is. It was a perfect option for a rainy winter's day. For the banh mi, the marinated pork is cooked to order. The shrimp spring roll had fresh vegetables and just the right amount of moistness for the rice paper wrapper. Overall, I would return here just for that soup. A hidden gem for home-y tasting food. There was a lady cooking on her own behind the register, and she was skilled at preparing meals with a sense of urgency, taking orders, and cooking as customers came in. There are three tables and a few chairs, so not much seating, but most customers were getting their food to go.

This was my second time trying Indonesian cuisine but my first time venturing out from the more mainstream Satay and certainly won't be my last. The pops of flavor in the Geprek were so awesome and reminded me how fun it is to try new dishes and foods from other cultures. Parking is limited out front but I think there are two additional lots that are close by. I went on a Sunday afternoon and had no issues getting a spot. Service was okay... they were not too busy and we were a table of just 4 people but they forgot my friend's Beef Rendang. Upon asking, they didn't really apologize for forgetting his meal just told us to wait and then they brought it out slightly later. Nobody really came to check on us throughout the meal either. It was not a big deal for me but if you're dining in expecting full service, this may be disappointing for you. Overall the food was delicious and the albiet mediocre service was enough for me to come back and enjoy some more dishes in the near future. Also! There is a fun little market in the restaurant to check out some indonesian snacks and drinks.

Pho is my medicine when I'm getting over a cold. I learned this trick many years ago when I lived…read morein Orange County, an area of Southern California with some of the best pho outside of Vietnam. One time, I was at a Vietnamese restaurant and saw a man sitting by himself, his face over a steaming bowl of pho, with a pile of tissues next to him. He'd alternate slurping up noodles and broth with blowing his nose. It was gross but also kind of brilliant and also somehow still delicious-looking. Homeboy was on a mission to clear his nasal passages, I tell you what. So, the next time I had a cold, I tried my man's technique. And you know what? Yes, pho is a medical miracle. If you're on the end stages of a cold, where you feel 90% better but you still have some nagging junk hanging on, get a bowl of pho. And bring some tissues with you. Short story long: The pho at Long Thanh is probably the best pho I've eaten in Indianapolis. Not only was my pho ga delicious and simple, like a great bowl of chicken pho should be. But I visited with the end stages of a cold, and once I put my face over the bowl and started slurping, I could feel the pho working its magic. My visit was also a reconnaissance mission, of sorts: I know there are a lot of places to get pho around Indy, but where would one go to get an amazing bowl of pho? I didn't have that one place to point someone to, or take someone to, until today. Long Thanh is it! Now, this is not the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant that I've ever visited. In fact, I would probably qualify this place as a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It's located in a dusty strip mall. The building looks like it was built in the 1960s and hasn't been updated since the 1990s. But I'm willing to overlook the spider webs in the windows, the ramshackle carpet and the upside-down Lowe's bucket serving as a plant holder. Why? Because the pho at Long Thanh is the kind of pho you want to be sticking your sick freakin' face over. So, the pho ga is my standard pho order, because how can you go wrong with chicken soup? The pho comes with a platter of herbs -- Thai basil, regular basil and cilantro -- and bean sprouts to sprinkle into your bowl, according to your preference. There are also some lime wedges to squeeze, and jalapeno slices to add for a little heat. If you need more heat, there's Sriracha and other sauces at the table. I add Sriracha as I eat, because I like to build up the heat as I go. Basically, my bowl of pho was exactly what I wanted: a hot and flavorful bowl of broth and perfectly cooked noodles and chicken, with the ability to add handfuls of fresh herbs and sprouts for a nice fresh, crunchy texture. One other reason to visit Long Thanh: the owner of this restaurant. This guy is also the host, the server, the cook, and the person who clears the tables. He is a bright and shining beacon of light in an otherwise dusty strip mall in central Indiana. He was super enthusiastic about every single thing. You can tell that he loves what he does, and it shows in the food he serves.

The prices are super affordable. For example, a bowl of pho only costs $8.50! The owner is usually both the server and cook. He's super nice and gets to know all of his customers. The restaurant is very small and worn down but don't let how it looks deter you from trying this place!
