Blackened grouper with Szechuan green beans and lobster risotto
    Aimee B.

My husband brought me here to celebrate 12 years of sobriety! It's a face of ours for the following reason- the food here is delicious! It never misses. I got the blackened grouper with Szechuan green beans and lobster risotto. Husband got the honey glazed seabass with Parmesan risotto. Omg both were out of this world. He got the lobster bisque (rich and a wee bit salty) that he loved and I got the NAPA salad. It was good not great. Our server Chris was the perfect mix of attentive and not hovering. Ambiance was a busy Saturday night full of fathers and families for Father's Day Eve. We had a great booth spot to people Watch. Next time I will try the sushi. No dessert this time.

Always love coming here. Service is friendly, fast and attentive. By luck we've always had Joaquim, who is the best. This time we ordered the crispy rice and tuna... very good. And the Jasmine, aurora and voodoo child. All are good and delicious options.

Pros: Great location in Sophia section of Carmel Free and easy parking in the adjoining garage Very clean and well appointed bathrooms Service was friendly and attentive Wonderful menu with lots of options; I especially loved my lunch of lobster toast Cons: A bit pricey Can be noisy when the place gets full Pro tip: Make a reservation! They will charge you if you don't show up though.

So glad I finally got to try this place. It was worth the wait. The food was amazing. I'm still bragging about it weeks later. Everything tasted so fresh and "melt in your mouth" quality. Started with appetizers of sweet Caroline sushi and crab dip. The dip was fantastic and came with little bread pieces, which were also good. The sushi was fun to try. Would probably try a different roll next time there but glad I tried as it was recommended. The espresso martini was made perfectly. Best one in awhile. Dinner was the blackened grouper which came with lobster risotto and green beans (which could be subbed with other if wanted). The grouper was smooth. Nicely seasoned, not too fishy. The lobster risotto was the star of the meal though. So creamy, not too oily, that I would go back and order it by itself if I could :) and because I went for my birthday they brought out a brownie with ice cream and a candle. What a great surprise. Overall great atmosphere and service. A little pricey but quality was good and worth it. Definitely will be back!!!

Enjoyed celebrating Mothers Day here! A beautiful restaurant with a very helpful and attentive staff. Got a taste of everyone's drinks at the table and none of them disappointed. Starting with the appetizers the Mussels were amazing, especially the broth they were cooked in. My uncle ordered more bread just to soak more of it up! The crab dip was very good. Did not like the Rockefeller Oysters, they were topped with cheese, bacon, and spinach. Tasted more like a loaded potato than an oyster, wish I would've just got raw. Also got a taste of everyone's entrees, and everything tasted amazing. My favorites were the Glazed Sea bass and the Seafood Risotto, SO much flavor!!! It is definitely pricey but worth it!

As good as it gets. The miso sea bass is out of this world. Pork chops are great. The service is what makes this place. Watermelon salad was to die for. Great wine for dinner. Servers were out of this world and hostess's are great too

The waitress was very knowledgable with all the ingredients in the menu items which extremely helped with deciding what to order.

Came for lunch and omg so great! The blackened grouper was delicious! It's the perfect meal. It's seasoned so well and the lobster risotto is so good too (my fav part), and the szechuan green beans. The service is always good. It took a while for our food to come out with the sushi taking the longest surprisingly. Can't go wrong here! Parking is annoying and it's pricey but worth it

Excellent food and service! Followed Zach's recommendation and I ordered the watermelon salad and coconut crusted mahi mahi off the special menu. I highly recommend - fresh and full of flavor. My husband had east coast oysters and the miso sea bass - he loved both!

Kyah was our waitress and she was very nice. We ordered an Avocado Roll, the shrimp tempura roll, the shrimp pesto linguine and the fish and chips. I loved how Kyah asked my daughter and I, if we were interested in trying the avocado egg roll shareable but we passed on the offer because my daughter does not like tomatoes. All were good, but the shrimp pesto linguine was very spicy. I wished that was mentioned while ordering but I now know for next time. The ambiance was very calm, dim and relaxing for the most part. The patio was opened due to the warm weather.

We came in during lunch time on a Tuesday and it wasn't very busy. Our server was very friendly but it did take our food a really long time to come out. I ordered the crab and artichoke grilled cheese sandwich with fries. The grilled cheese was so good and hearty, I wish I'd ordered a soup with it! The ambience was nice and decor was modern. The bar seemed a bit small and they did have a patio area with seating. I'd come back to try the sushi!

From the moment we walked into Monterrey Cuisine, the experience felt special. We were tucked into a cozy, private corner that set the perfect tone for the evening--intimate, relaxed, and ideal for conversation. Three generations gathered around the table, sharing stories, laughter, and life experiences, all while being cared for by the most gracious and attentive server who made us feel genuinely welcomed. And the food... absolutely incredible. The steak was hands-down one of the most delicate I've ever had--so tender it practically melted in my mouth. Every bite felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. Paired with their delicious raspberry cocktails, it was the perfect balance of indulgent and refreshing. This wasn't just dinner--it was a night full of connection, memories, and exceptional cuisine. If you're looking for a place in Carmel that delivers amazing food, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that invites you to slow down and savor the moment, Monterrey Cuisine is a must-visit.

My boyfriend and I absolutely LOVE Monterey. Not only is it beautiful and clean inside, the food never disappoints!! The crab and artichoke dip is a must every visit. I always order the salmon with brussel sprouts for my entree which never fails to be flavorful and juicy. Service is also top notch. We've had different servers every visit and they all do an outstanding job. One girl brought us dessert on the house for our anniversary which was really sweet. This is definitely one of our favorite restaurants and one we recommend to anyone visiting Indy!!

Our server, Justin, was attentive and helpful throughout the evening. My partner asked for wine pairing recommendations, and Justin suggested a Pinot Noir that paired well with the meal. I ordered the Lemon Drop Cocktail, which was refreshing and enjoyable. The food was excellent. I ordered the Steak Frites, and my partner ordered the Duck A L'Orange. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the duck breast was tender and flavorful. We also shared the lavender and wild berry cheesecake for dessert. It was a unique offering--the flavors were interesting, although it wasn't my personal favorite. My partner, however, enjoyed it quite a bit. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and elegant. My only complaint was the temperature inside the dining room. We dined indoors on a Saturday evening in mid-July when it was around 90 degrees outside, and the restaurant felt unusually warm and stuffy. I suspect there may have been an issue with the HVAC system, as there seemed to be very little air circulation. My partner was sweating throughout dinner. I'm usually someone who gets cold easily at restaurants and often brings a cardigan, so the fact that I found the temperature uncomfortable was surprising. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant and would happily return, assuming the HVAC issue has been resolved.

We went for a 3:00 show on a Sunday such that by the time we got out, it was 6:00-still early. It was in the 30's outside and already dark (thanks DLS time). Yet as we reached the top of the stairs to the lobby I was immediately disappointed that there was no fire lit in the fireplace. There were only three parties in the place. One was around the corner in the adjoining sitting area and may or may not have been drinking. There were two couples at the bar, where we considered also sitting. But the only empty spot for two had two dirty drink glasses from a previous patron still sitting. So we opted for the leather couch and chair in the main area just across from the bar. And that's where we waited, and waited, for almost 30 minutes, before giving up on getting served (or acknowledged). There was only one bartender, so we were fine with going up to order but communication would have been helpful. We stood at the bar while she chatted with the two couples, who'd all been served. We couldn't really figure out what she was doing as she seemed busy-ish yet wasn't serving, or clearing, or washing, and we were chatting between ourselves and didn't really give it much thought. Then she said she was out of something and was leaving the bar to go fetch it. We asked her to let us know when she was ready to serve us, and we took our seats to resume our conversation. The bartender returned after a while, and she served one of the original couples ... for another 10 minutes at least. Again we were talking so, while an irritation, it was in the background. About 50 minutes into our visit, she came over and took our drink order. This was my third or fourth visit, and I'd ordered my drink, an old fashioned, before and knew what to expect: bourbon of choice, Luxardo cherry, and a dehydrated orange slice. Ten minutes later we got our drinks. Now mind you, my friend ordered a glass of wine. Nothing time consuming about that. She noted that her pour was smaller than the other times she'd been there. Mine came with the whisky cube already on its way to melted, a broken (a.k.a. piece of) cherry and a twist. What? Where's my glorious little crunchy orange wheel of goodness? I had spied them on the bar earlier. No soup for me! Also, and I can't be sure 100% sure of this, but I tasted neither bitters nor syrup. Was this really just a bourbon rocks? It took a minute but we realized this gal cannot tend and talk at the same time. My friend commented that she had no idea what will happen when the place gets busy, as it has been every other time I've been there. We left after 8:00, after one drink, and for me, $21 lighter. Yeah, it's pricey. And the Carmichael crowd is a discriminating one. So we expected better. Much, much better.

Just kinda bland with not much going for so it, other than being cream cheesey. Unfortunately the chicharrones did not really add much to the experience. My boneless wings were also the same... Fine. Kinda bland. The dry rub doesn't actually stick to the breading, so it was just plain chunks of breaded chicken tenders with a little pile of seasoning sitting in the bottom of the basket. My friends food however, was actually pretty tasty! The bone-in wings with chili garlic honey sauce were zesty and juicy. Especially since we had a long drawn out conversation about her inability to change the alcohol type in one of our drinks because it's premixed, you'd think she would remember. Sadly, no. We should have left then but were there for a watch party. So we ended up reordering and paying again for the missing drink. We moved to a different area of the bar and still experienced subpar service. Nearly every staff member in this place had the look on their faces like everyone was an inconvenience to them. Not one smile. Very limited interaction. And overall, extremely poor customer service. I would not recommend! Cherry on top: when you pay, they have the unmitigated gall to have the tip increments go from 22-30%. Not a one person who "served" us worked to deserve a tip of that magnitude. He's a semifinalist for the Best Chef: Great Lakes (IL, IN, MI, OH) category. What an honor! I'm curious to see if he gets the medal, but even if not, hopefully this recognition will draw people to visit Lone Pine, because people really need to visit. I don't know how Lone Pine would describe its menu, but I would call it elevated comfort food. One of the things my table ordered was chicken piccata. When was the last time you saw chicken piccata on a menu?! It was delicious, and served with mashed potatoes and lettuce leaves that added a nice, fresh crunch to each bite. We also got the roasted salmon, which was served with fingerling potatoes in a pesto sauce, with arugula on the side. This, too, was delicious and rich, yet fresh. I ordered the short ribs, which came with polenta and caramelized pearl onions. The short ribs were just fatty enough, and the sauce that they were surrounded by was unctuous and wonderful to eat with the polenta. I guess I should have started this review by writing about our first course! We got the French onion soup, bloody Mary wedge salad and the Caesar salad. The Caesar salad at Lone Pine is probably the best Caesar salad that I've eaten in Carmel, and maybe in all of the Indianapolis area. The thing that Lone Pine does differently and spectacularly is that they use breadcrumbs and not croutons. That makes all the difference! Granted, it does look a bit like a pile of pencil shavings on a plate, but sometimes the dowdiest foods are the best-tasting foods. The result is a satisfyingly salty, crunchy, creamy, crispy salad that I couldn't stop eating. I know I will be back to Lone Pine for the Caesar salad. We ended our meal by sharing two desserts: the apple pie panna cotta and the Lone Pine chocolate cake. Both desserts were amazing, but the cake won us all over because it looked deceptively heavy, but it was light and airy, and came with slightly sweet whipped cream. The service at Lone Pine is exceptional. They pay attention to detail here, and all of the little things are taken care of. Our server gave us just enough time between courses. Our water was refilled unobtrusively. We didn't get asked whether we've dined there before (because who cares?) and the menu wasn't over-explained (thank goodness, because I can indeed read). One thing we also noticed that we appreciated: The music was just loud enough to hear it, but not loud enough to notice it too much! It's these little things that come together to make a great dining experience.
