After I joined the Navy in 2014 I saw Publix less frequently unless I went back home to visit. This made me so sad. But now they've expanded to Virginia these last few years and that makes me happy! Publix is the Chik-Fil-A of grocery stores. Hopefully that puts it into perspective for those who have never been. This Williamsburg location is no exception. Friendly staff, excellent customer service as well. You can find food that's localized in Florida that has been imported. The deli section is amazing. They have premade food or you can order it fresh if you prefer. Highly recommend a Publix chicken tender sub with lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard. 10/10 combo. If you live anywhere in the 757 it is definitely worth the drive to visit this location.

When I took the plastic wrap off of my container, I could smell that the food was old. It's that scent of warmer lights and old oil. I still took a bite and the chicken was indeed old. The wedges were old as well. They were hard and chewy on the outside. The cornbread was as hard as a brick. I didn't even bother to open the package. My son and his dad enjoyed their food. They got subs and chicken strips. Publix usually doesn't have nasty food. I probably just caught them on a bad day. I will still go back.

Otherwise, it is an efficient place to go in, get what you want and get out, unlike the huge grocery big box stores that have everything under the sun. One area where this location could save money and possibly reduce prices is by eliminating the "Death Row for Plants". Plant materials are placed outside to dehydrate and fry in the sun. The plants placed inside are not cared for either. We have brought the situation to the attention of the store manager (repeatedly) personally and he wasn't at all interested. Other workers said that they were told not to water the plants. We notified Lidl corporate. They had the correct response, but no action has been taken. When the plants arrive, they are beautiful and high quality but it doesn't take long for the lack of water to destroy the plants and reduce their value to zero. The plant prices are not marked, so most people just walk past and the stock just sits there to cook in the sun. I deducted one star because of the lack of customer service and short staffing the checkouts. I don't think that the employees receive any customer service training. I also deducted one star because of the wasted resources (plants) that have the potential to increase prices

The store itself was ok. It's what you expect from Food Lion. My visit was on a weekday evening and the produce area was messy and low inventory. That's mainly what I came in for.
