Customer service has always been good but the quality of meat and produce has recently declined. The last 2 packs of chicken I purchased in the past few months have had 4 days left to expiration, when I opened package to prepare them the same day if purchase, both were smelly in the beginning stages if spoilage. $12 each in lost product and money. I bought a whole watermelon 2 days ago. This morning I hear a loud pop in my kitchen and turn the corner to see the watermelon had exploded all over the kitchen. It was spoiled in the inside, not visible from the outside. $6 in lost product and money. Called store to let them know. Posting here to let everyone know. I'll be shopping elsewhere. Groceries cost too much to be tolerating consistently bad product. read more

I went to the Food Lion yesterday our of desperation! I just couldn't handle the larger grocery stores any more. I'm an older lady with limited stamina. The Food Lion was HEAVENLY!! I wasn't overcome with the size. They had everything I needed. The layout made it easy to find my groceries. It was clean and well-organized. The staff was friendly and helpful. This place is so convenient. ..it's sad I have to drive several miles away just to get groceries. I've given them multiple chances. But it's the deli in particular that is the downfall. I asked for shaved ham...the man with dreads cut thick slices and in a grumpy voice explained that was as thin as it gets. Well maybe you guys should go buy one of Kroger's deli slicers. They actually know what shaved ham is supposed to be. It's not rocket science people. This has happened more than once. I'll post a picture. read more

When Food Lion was first built in Spring Hill, it became a mecca of the city. People flocked here, no longer having to drive 30 minutes away to secure groceries. Fast forward 15 years, and you can throw a stone in each direction and hit a nearby store. At first, Food Lion was amazing with fresh produce, imaginative deli and a large selection of meat. It was new, stylish and clean. But now, if you walk in the front doors you may see them stick open or even fall out of alignment. In fact, these doors once fell on a customer and crushed their foot. They employ teenagers and retired workers which isn't a bad thing but both lack the knowledge of how to maintain their stations be it the deli, cash register, produce or meat departments. You kind of get the feeling they get irritated if you ask them which aisle an item is on or if you can have a pound of cheese sliced. Once I asked for half a pound of american cheese and they said I should just purchase the prepackaged one because it's cheaper and the same thing. Twice I've bought out of date items. I learned quickly to check expiration dates when buying here. I once found a bag of pretzels that were a month out of date. Then I realized why most items are priced low, not because they're competing but because they have given up. You'd think with 2 Krogers, Wal-Mart, Target, Publix and Aldis that competition would slash prices, but instead Food Lion seems content with mediocrity. Go elsewhere if you have a lot to buy as most items will be out of date or not in stock. On the upside, if you only need a few items and are in a rush, the lines are always empty. read more

This is a great grocery store for a quick stop in. They have a large variety of items but the store is small enough to be in and out fast. This is the one grocery store my son doesn't complain about when we shop here. The staff has always been very friendly and the lines are typically short. I'm sure I will have quite a few more check-ins here! read more

Great place to shop, things are nice in appearance and never alot of people like some of the larger chain stores, great prices too.

I was surprised by how clean the store was and by how large the selection was, just judging from the exterior. I didn't do a whole lot of shopping. But the cashier was friendly any funny:) prices seemed pretty regular. I feel like no grocery store will compare to the deals at Kroger. How ever this will be my propane place! This Food Lion is extremely clean. The meat department had some of the nicest meet in all of Spring Hill. Produce was very fresh and grocery was fully stocked. It is very convenient so as I do not have to drive all the way down to the Kroger marketplace and Publix were traffic gets nuts. read more
