So everybody needs to go home The guy at the self checkout is doing just enough so he doesn't get fired which is OK on paper, but it's frustrating if you have to deal with that as a customer. The guy just acts like he hates his life and it's your fault for being a part of it. If he was walking on the way to work and someone offered him another job he would take it. And he smells horrible. I could understand if you had a hygiene problem, but your attitude was better, but his attitude is just as bad if not worse than his hygiene. And then he has the nerve to treat other people like he smells. It's insane. The cashier with the salt and Pepper hair is just over it completely but as over it as he was, he was the most helpful to me. I wish I would've remembered his name so I can give him a shout out, but I think he was turning off station number seven at about 6:50 PM. But he was an older guy. Over it, but still willing to help. 4 wheelchair carts and NONE of them work! I was just at this location at all 4 carts were parked in their charging locations. None of them were charging. Three of them had broken plugs. I charged one of them and as soon as my brother with a bad hip/leg was taken off, the battery died within 30 seconds. I came here to pickup some of the premade food. I feel like this food for less has a bit more than the other food for leases that I've been too. I picked up a rotisserie chicken for $8.99 and it's a lot smaller than the Costco $4.99 classic chicken. Though I can say the meat was tender and moist. There are a bit of homeless or shady people outside occasionally and one person just hovered around the grocery cart area which was so annoying I just didn't get s grocery cart. Basically I scanned my Kroger membership app, doesn't go through then asked for help she said "it was too dark, barcode can't go through" like she was blaming me; I didn't make this app, not my problem. Before I scanned and it went through smoothly, then I inputted my phone number into the machine and it doesn't reduced the amount from my deals and I asked for help again, and she responded with "oh you didn't clip the deal", Clearly I did! Fully stocked & clean store. The employees at the deli & cashiers are always in a good mood even when it's full and chaotic. They're also really good about collecting the karts and making sure they're not blocking parking spaces. Surprisingly the music is great too. The self check out is a bonus! read more

Haven't done grocery shopping lately, and with all the fast food we've been eating lately decided to make a green juice grocery run. Sometimes the supermarkets close to home won't have all the ingredients in one place, we would have to go to two markets sometime just to get : cucumber, spinach, parsley, kale, lemon, celery, and apple. Was pretty impress at how fresh the produce were today at Food4Less. No wilted leaves, no browning, no wrinkles, just fresh greens. This is a ok Food 4 Less location. Its just the customer service sucks here when you need help. I used to come alot when I lived in Baldwin Park. Once in awhile when I visit friends here, income here to shop a little. They have a nice deli and meat area for food. They still give you the Ralphs fried chicken and deli foods. SInce they are really owned by Ralphs. Lots of parking here since its a huge shopping center off of Valley Blvd. Security here, so don't even think about stealing. Big store tho. I went to Food for Less , in El Monte on Garvey. to return an expired freezer item I purchased earlier that day . I experienced the worst customer service from Zandra, who was a cashier. I asked her who could I speak to for customer service. She yelled at me and said "THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE " in front of many customers . I was mortified. I said okay, and turned to find someone to help me. Some of the employees working, were able to guide me to the manager, Jesse who was very kind and helped me with my return, and apologized for Zandra. This lady has issues. She needs some customer service skills. I spend quite a bit of money on my groceries there , and would like to be treated with respect. Zandra needs to take some classes on how to treat people. Sooo. I came in today and had the RUDEST Asian old man as a cashier. He was throwing everyone's groceries as we bagged them. I saw him talk to the girl in front of me just as he did to me. He was very snappy and rude. He talked to me like I was an idiot because I pulled the card out of the machine to soon. And he explained to me like a child how the machine works. Like he's not the moron at his age still working at a grocerie store. I called the manager on the phone to explain how rude he was and that had me on hold for 20 min it probably would've been longer if I wouldn't have hung up. Clearly just hiring a bunch of uneducated idiots at this store. Also the refrigerators do not work well at all ! And it's hot in the store so everything was melting so quick. I've been shopping at this store for 20+ years and have never really had a bad experience with the staff. Food for less offers great deals and good quality cuts of meat. They have a large variety of things. The store was just recently remodeled so some of the isles shifted, but overall you get the bang for your buck. Cons- store is in a busy shopping center so parking lot is shared with other retailers. If you go earlier or mid day parking is easy to find. Holidays it will be a struggle, but its like that everywhere. read more

Good prices, fresh greens, good meat cuts, and great weekly deals. The down side.. parking sucks, only a few paying lines open at a time, sticky floors, and parking really really sucks. Prepare to get your car doors​ ding and dented because people here are careless when it comes to putting away the shopping carts where they belong when they're done with them, even if they're a few feet away from that cart spot. They leave them anywhere at all times. Lazy asses. The same people who don't care about your car get mad if you leave carts by their car. Stupid, I know. Be responsible! The store prices compared to other markets are sometimes good but still check your weekly ads for competition. Food 4 Less sell some of the lowest price I had see form the market in many items. They were selling huge 32oz Gatorade drink for only 79 cents was a such bargain that I don't see anywhere selling at that price. The brand they sell is pretty well-known, sure they don't had organize one but for that price can't complain. A lot of item here are super cheap and this is usually my idea shop when I doesn't go to Costco. I don't see point going Walmart when there's Food 4 Less in grocery whise, is clearly Food 4 Less has better price. Walmart still triump in apparel and other application. At work, we are sponsoring a battered wife get back on her feet, so one of the things needed was a gift card for Food 4 Less. I've never shopped at one before, but it seems it is a sibling of the Kroger family, as the receipts look similar and the food aisles the same. In this part of El Monte, it could get a little dicey, but the people shopping were all families with their kids and elders. I would say you might get a better deal at Food 4 Less because the overhead looks more reasonable, and the food quality is about the same. It almost has a warehouse feel to it, and possibly competes at the same level as COSTCO. I certainly appreciate the opportunity to help another individual, and look forward to next year as well. read more

Everything I came in for they had in stock and it was SUPER CHEAP! I bought some Ore Ida fries for under $3 and some frozen Burritos for under $3, i got 4 items all for under $3.00 each! Whereas if I purchased the same items at RALPHS or Albertson's (which most of the albertson's locations shut down) it would cost over $3.50+ each item I knocked off a star because the young chick at the register didn't know how to count change and had a bitter bitch face, no thank you or hello's or even a grin. I come here often especially at night since they close late friendly and helpful cashiers.

I always go here for groceries. But how disappointing that the staff would put nice strawberries on top and super rotten ones on the bottom. Bought 2/$4 and was able to use only 7 for presentation. And since it's Easter I have NO TOME TO GO BACK TO COMPLAIN OR GET MY MONEY-plus travel time! This is disgusting and paying customers should be able to garner more respect for their time & dollar. This is another reason why El Monte has such a sad reputation. Money can't buy class and ethics-no matter how much they sell homes for here. The people/staff make a city. I've been to this supermarket several times and every single time I've gone there, the cashiers are very rude and look miserable. They never greet you, not even a smile. Majority of the time the cashiers are having a conversation between each other. Even though it's not in the same class as Pavilions, Vons, Ralphs and other fine supermarkets doesn't mean their business and customer service standards should be below average. I blame management for this. I've even seen them behaving the same way when they are on the cashier. The prices is why I go their but I try to avoid going in if I have too. Cheap, fresh and affordable. I like to compare grocery stores in the more urban locations to places like Whole Foods and Trader Joes. So here's what I think: 1) You'll get a better deal on those fresh produce items and fruit. They're not going to be prepackaged, so you gotta know what a fresh piece of produce is supposed to look like, though. 2) You're not going to find a lot of healthy/quality options of pre-packaged foods. There are aisles of pre-packaged foods. 3) There are more store brand items or cheaper Kroger options, for better and for worse. 4) There's no hummus or any of the mainstream staples, varieties and so on. So you'll spend your buck well here, but only if you know how to shop will you get the freshest and best quality ingredients. read more

I work close to this location and I am glad it opens early in the morning. They always have everything I need and it's nice to see former students working. There is usually only one checker before 8am, but the cashier is always kind and works quickly. Bagging your own groceries makes the process go so much smoother. The fresh pain in the morning smells great and always tempts me ask I walk by the station. I did not buy any fresh fruit or vegetables on this trip - but I love that Food 4 Less offers great produce at really affordable prices. I wish they would abandon the plastic bags - but one city at a time. I guess I am used to it because I live in Long Beach. read more
